Halcyon ♛ Sehun and Kai

Sehun was a bit oblivious to the fact he had offended Kai. Most of his attention was at the weapon in his hands, not the person sitting opposite him. He hummed softly as he thought, still not taking his eyes off his work. He shrugged after a moment, not wanting to waste a lot of his concentration on something as trivial as the name. “How about Aconite? It’s a type of poisonous plant.” The name really didn’t matter to him what they called it. He just knew the higher ups well enough to know its current one wouldn’t be appreciated much. 

He finished tightening up the last screw and put the screwdriver down. He smiled a bit at his handiwork and looked up at Kai. He was perplexed though by the look on the other’s face. What is his problem?

It wasn't that the new name was bad or anything; in fact, it was great, but he was a little annoyed at how easily Sehun just threw aside the one he came up with and picked a new one. What took him weeks to come up with only took Sehun a few minutes as if it was nothing more than picking a meal at his favorite restaurant or a seat on the bus. "Aconite. Aconite?" He said the word a few times, trying it out on his tongue. It was a good name, but still, he threw an incredulous look at Sehun. "Wow, I can't wait to see what you'll name your children, Sehun, seeing how easily you just threw aside my weeks worth of contemplation for something so simple as Aconite."

Kai sighed exasperatedly, "I mean I know it was a bad name but at least acknowledge it before changing it." All the stress over the past two weeks has finally gotten to him which explained his overreaction. He cared more about the name than he really should which was unlike him to be so sentimental over things. But he didn't care. He came up with that name and the least Sehun could do was give him some credit.

Misinterpretations ♕ Luhan and Kai

Luhan caught up with the younger one only to miss the word ‘bilingual’. He had been learning  Korean but he still wasn’t that fluent in speaking it or catching up words. His brows narrowed as he tried to say the word “B..ili.. what?” Luhan couldn’t help but ask what did the younger one meant. Linking arm with him Luhan’s lips curved up in a warm smile. This was something he can understand even if he didn’t speak the language. 

Luhan got a bit quiet as he thought of his room in the boarding house that he shared with Sehun, but more importantly he knew the question about the job would surface. The only thing he was doing apart from being a seeker was playing soccer or … His train of thoughts stopped when the idea came to his mind about the job. 

Luhan chuckled softly and led the way to the apartment. The room wasn’t even a high class one but because of Sehun and him, they had made it look as if they were living a good life by saving up and making it comfortable for himself and Sehun to live in. He switched to Mandarin finding it easier to have a conversation in his own language, “It’s more of a room in a boarding house. I have a roommate though. But he is not there at the moment.” He stopped in front of the good looking building and flashed his usual smile before leading him up the stairs.

"I said you were perfect, that's all." Kai answered with a grin, nudging Luhan with his arm. He let the silence fall over them as they walked to Luhan's current living quarters. It was a nice building, modern but not too expensive looking which meant Luhan was making a little more than enough to afford it. Following him up to the apartment, he grew curious as to the other's occupation and the identity of his roommate. As Luhan opened the door to the room, he decided to ask, "So, what are you doing now?" He adjusted to Mandarin to fit Luhan's preference. He wasn't perfect at it but he was decent enough to make it work. He's been on too many work trips with his dad not to know.

Kai looked around, scanning the apartment. It looked comfortable, everything a perfect balance between reasonably affordable and unnecessarily expensive. Though he wouldn't admit it, Kai was also subconsciously scanning around for photos that would hint to the mysterious face of the roommate, but there were none. Not in plain sight anyways. In fact, there were no photos at all. A pang of familiarity hit him. He couldn't help but be reminded of Kris's apartment and how devoid of personality it was. It had all the key elements of a home but no actual home feeling to it. Like it would be easy to abandon. He kept this to himself as he turned to Luhan with an easy smile, "Looks like you're living it up, hyung." However, he had to admit, this apartment was not as severe as Kris's; at least, it still looked like people lived in it.

Knew You Were Trouble || Kai and Krystal

Krystal slowly clapped at her friend’s impulsiveness. “Good job,” she muttered dryly. She listened as Kai explained his plan in detail. There was a reason she came up with the plans and he was the hitman. “You didn’t factor in two things: if she left someone in the office and if she booby-trapped her desk. You know how she’s been meaning to booby-trap it ever since people just started randomly picked up codes she was solving and messed up her desk…” They just needed to find a way around that. The first method would have been easy, as they could just tell the person that Yoona sent them. The booby traps posed the bigger threat. Most likely the way to deactivate them would be some complicated computer code or password that would have bee in any foreign language Yoona could speak—thing is, she spoke at least five languages.

"The plan has promise… And I say it’s high time Queen Yoona’s been pranked. Oh and, we will have to deactivate the CCTVs in that office." Heaven only knew what technological booby traps that place had. "And to make things fun, how about a bet?"

"Yea, we'll have to do that," Kai agrees almost absentmindedly as he tried to remember the location of the cameras on the tech floor. After much thought, he got an idea. He walked over to the front desk, handsome smile and all, and asked the receptionist for some name tag stickers. He walked back with a roll of them and showed it to Krystal. "We can cover the camera with these. Yoona's too technologically advanced to expect something so simple." Kai wouldn't be surprised if Yoona found someway to have backup footage even if they did deactivate all the cameras. This was the safest bet and also the easiest. He really didn't want to go through all the work of getting past all her security she undoubtedly has set up.

Hearing Krystal's suggestion, Kai raised his eyebrows, a playful smirk dancing its way onto his lips, "A bet?" His fingers rubbed at his chin and pondered over the idea for a moment before his smirk turned into a wide grin. "Sure. How about if we get caught we have to dye our hair a certain color depending on what the other chooses?" He looked at her, waiting for a response.

Junyoung hardly talked but he kept his eyes opened as he scanned the area that was crowded and quietly observed them as it was his habit. With Kai and Siwon he had no problem to be there but he was satisfied to be out of the Seoul Spies building and mingle with others. 

Even though they had been ordered to mingle in and enjoy the time, he was more than glad to obey that order. As the younger one observed the crowd he was forced to break his concentration when he heard Kai and Siwon talking and Siwon questioning him. Shaking his head Jun gave a polite small smile to refuse the offer of coffee since he didn’t drink any at all “No thank you. I’ll pass the offer.”  

Looking around at the stands Jun shrugged being fine with whatever though he was anxious to see what the lecture would be about. Looking at Kai and then at Siwon, the younger male just crossed his arms lazily “We should. I’m curious anyways.” He looked at Kai wanting to know his opinion .

Kai continued sipping on his coffee, watching the exchange between his two group mates. "So, we're going to check out the stands?" He said, not really to get an answer, but more just to repeat it. Kai shrugged and headed towards the big glass door against the wall of lounge. It opened to reveal a pool that filled the entire area between the buildings. Kai couldn't remember the last time he went swimming in a pool or even lounged beside one. Seoul's been so rainy lately or rather, always. He wondered whether or not they'd have time after the lecture to visit it. So Kai decided to voice this concern, turning to Siwon, "Yah hyung, I want to go to the pool later." Caffeine made him a little bit whiny. That and plus, it was early in the morning. Even though Jun was the youngest, it made no difference to Kai's maturity level. He'll start behaving better later.

Kai made his way across the boarded walkway that led to the hallway, which he presumed led to the room that the convention would take place in, but not passing the chance to smile at a girl he saw looking at him. Kai walked past oversized mahogany doors, and into a room filled with stands of all sorts. Most of them were filled with brochures and uniformed people enthusiastically showing demonstrations and such. Kai rolled his eyes, dumping the cup in a trash can and stuffing his hands in his pockets. "Alright, where are we going first? And I swear, if there's not a weaponry booth here, I'm leaving for the bar." He looked expectantly at Jun and Siwon and suddenly wondered how Sehun usually puts up with his behavior.

They arrived at the hotel, spies flowing into the building and roaming throughout except that they weren't spies as of the moment because it was simply a small getaway to attend a convention they have been cordially invited to. Kai didn't really mind as long as there was a bar he could get even slightly buzzed at to make everything go a little bit smoother. Kai spotted one down the hall and wondered how he could sneak past Siwon to go grab a beer. However, after much pondering and staring longingly at the drinks that sat on the table, he decided against it. He didn't want Siwon to rat him out to Lee Sooman or any of the other heads about this too.

With a sigh, Kai gave up on his mission and turned to the tables of breakfast foods set in front of them, settling for some coffee that was located against the far left of the room. It was still only 8 and Kai guessed it might not be such a great idea to be drinking so early in the day after all. Though, he's not sure if him being sober during the lecture is totally required. He doesn't even know what the convention is for, just that it's educational and suggested that he pays attention in order to learn stuff. That's also what they said about school, but Kai's never found any of that true and he's not sure how much he'll learn from this convention either. After Kai grabbed his much needed cup of coffee, he walks back to his group and faces the other two members, Siwon and Jun. "So, what do you guys want to do?"

Misinterpretations ♕ Luhan and Kai

Embracing Kai made the older feel as if nothing changed. They were still in China, he was still in Beijing. It was as it had been in the past. Luhan inhaled in deeply, inhaling the scent he had missed so much. Burying his face into the other he closed his eyes as he unconsciously let it slip about the amount of time he had been in Korea only to be snapped out of the dazzled phase he had gone into. He just realized what he had said and stayed quiet as the other asked one question after another, throwing the train of questions at him. All the questions that he couldn’t answer even if he wanted to.

He wanted to tell Kai so badly how he had partially ran away from home but he couldn’t tell the part where he had joined the seekers. Luhan watched the younger one pick up the bags, he also bent down to pick up the can that had fallen out of the bag, he smiled at the words that were said to him in Korean. “I am still like this and you know it.” He replied in perfect Korean as well as he picked up another item from the ground and puts it in the bag looking at Kai eager and curious to see his reaction on Luhan speaking Korean perfectly.

Kai waited for Luhan by the edge of the park near the sidewalk, turning to look at the elder with a big grin when he heard him respond in perfect Korean. "Wow, looks like someone's bilingual. Congratulations, hyung. I'm so proud of you," he told the elder and he meant every single word. As Luhan made his way towards him, Kai linked arms with the blonde just like they used to and walked down the street. "So, where are we heading? I want to see the place that's been keeping my hyung cozy for the past year and a half," Kai said, walking slowly and awaiting directions.

Kai has been waiting so long for this, to be able to walk hand in hand with Luhan and gaze at the Seoul sky, which was mostly just grey and composed of air pollution but even that looked brighter with him around. Everything seemed unreal, but the warmth on his arm told him otherwise. And if this really was a dream, then he hoped he would never wake up because he couldn't bear the thought of losing Luhan again, especially when he's come so far. It just wouldn't be fair and he's not sure how he'll take it this time considering he almost got alcohol poisoning when Taemin left him.

Sehun nodded a bit at the older’s words, pulling the device back toward him and picking up a screwdriver. He half listened to Kai speak as he tinkered with the prototype, knowing almost exactly what was going to be said in the presentation, having been through many in his years of being in the weapon design section of the ammunition department. Nothing the other said really caught his attention, either as incorrect information or just plain odd. The only flaws he caught were minor and easily fixable. 

"Nothing needs to be added, but you need to fix the cost a bit. It ended up being more expensive than we originally estimated. For some reason the cameras for it cost twice as much as they told up they would be." Sehun didn’t look up the entire time he spoke, still working away at putting together the spider. "Also we need a name for it. They aren’t going to like to call it spider-like bomb."

Kai nodded at Sehun's advice and proceeded to change it on the slide as well as the note cards he made just in case someone forgot their lines or simply wanted to rehearse beforehand. Neither of those were probably going to happen seeing as they knew the project inside and out but it never hurt to be prepared. And there's also the fact that Kai had a tendency to overdo things when he was nervous. He never let anyone know of this because it made him seem like a complete dork and workaholic. However, Kai has worked with Sehun for long enough that the latter already knew of all these things so Kai didn't really care what he thought anymore.

Hearing Sehun suggest that they change the name made Kai look up from his computer, puzzled and slightly offended. "Alright, I guess. We can change it. What do you think we should use instead?" Kai couldn't see what was wrong with the name, but he supposed it couldn't hurt to try to find a better one. It's not like he spent all his sleepless nights coming up with it (he did) or he went through lists and lists of possible names just to find the perfect one (guilty) nor did he spend every second of his day searching the internet for tips on creating weapon names (nah, he didn't do that but it sounds quite helpful actually). Kai waited for Sehun's without a doubt masterpiece of a suggestion, not turning back to his computer because he didn't want to miss it.

"I can’t help I was in the middle of something and on the other side of town a hour ago." Sehun was being truthful. He just neglected to say it was a mission for the seekers and a hour ago he was actually it the middle of a fist fight with some gangsters. He didn’t really think that information was completely necessary at the moment. At least for Kai it wasn’t. Once he had finished his fight he had run home to change clothes and wash up some before making his way here.

He took the metal pieces and looked over them, switching two wires and tightening a screw. He didn’t need to consult the blueprints at all. He had committed this design a few others to his mind as he worked on them over the last few months. Nothing was better for Sehun than putting together the prototype of one of his prints. He felt a strange sense of pride fill his chest whenever it happened. It would be short lived this time, for Sehun had already warned the seeker ammunition department. These bad boys weren’t going to be used alone for long. 

He sat back in his chair after he had finished fixing up the prototype wiring and sighed softly. “Everything is in order now. Do you want to keep building or do you want me to take over for a bit?”

"Whatever you say, Sehun." Kai replied, nodding at the other's excuse. He wasn't all that concerned about Sehun's whereabouts so he dismissed it. As long as he didn't ditch him, Kai was fine with whatever the younger did. Looking away from the computer at Sehun's question, he shrugged. "You can take over if you want. I'm almost done as far as the external metal assembly goes. I'm just scared I messed up the wiring." He watched as Sehun took the bug and fumbled around with the wires.

Kai turned back to his computer, opening up a power point that he's been working on for the presentation. "Also, we need to go over some of the key points for this design and its uses for our presentation on Wednesday." He scrolled through the slides, reading aloud certain things such as its benefits, costs, and different ways it could be used. Kai looked at Sehun, making sure he understood what would be mentioned during the presentation. He was probably obsessing a little bit too much over everything, but he really wanted this to be perfect. Lately, things have been difficult for him, especially since Taemin left. He was in the middle of beating himself up over being such a shitty and this project was his much needed distraction. After Kai was done running through everything, he turned back to Sehun and asked, "Is there anything else you want to add?"

Misinterpretations ♕ Luhan and Kai

The blonde knew he wasn’t supposed to come here in the first place, but he couldn’t think of another place to go. He had originally came here to look for Kai but had gotten mixed with the seekers. That was a whole different story. Luhan looked away as the grip on the cube tightened, he didn’t think the cube would even be a distraction at the moment. He did miss Beijing, he did miss speaking in Mandarin but it was worth it for him to see Kai and keep an eye on him waiting for the right moment to reveal himself. He kept speaking in Mandarin with Kai feeling at ease at the moment for speaking his own language. “I do miss Beijing a lot…” He did miss his family but it wasn’t to the extreme. He ignored the language part as well. He instantly looked at the one on front of him while biting his lip hard, “Don’t say that.”

Dropping the bags on the ground he didn’t care about the contents in the bags right now, the older one couldn’t help but pull the younger one in his tight embrace. “Don’t tell me it was a waste because it wasn’t. A whole year and a half wasn’t a waste.” Luhan unconsciously let it slip how much time it had been for him to be here in Korea. He was being sincere at the moment about what he said. He really didn’t had the courage to let go of him and move on. It wasn’t that he hadn’t tried, Luhan knew he couldn’t.

Kai watched as the other dropped his bags and turned to wrap his arms around him in a hug and everything felt like home again. Kai's arms automatically came to wrap themselves around Luhan's small body and buried his head in the other's neck, only pulling away when he heard the elder mentioned how long he's been here. "One and a half years? And you never told me?" He looked at Luhan, astonished. "What have you been doing for that long? Where have you been staying?" His arms moved from around the other's body to grip his arms. Kai looked at Luhan, inspecting every detail of his being. He didn't look too skinny, not more than usual anyways, and the bags under his eyes weren't nearly as dark as Kai's. His clothes seemed to be in good condition and hair freshly dyed. Luhan's been living well.

"Did you find a job or are your parents still providing for you?" Kai was worried and curious about Luhan. Surely, moving to another country was difficult especially if you had no one there to be with you. How has Luhan been holding up so well? Rent in Seoul was pretty expensive and Kai didn't remember Luhan being on that great of terms with his parents. When Kai couldn't rack up a legitimate reasoning, he simply sighed and let go of Luhan to help him pick up his bags. "You're so stupid, hyung." He said in Korean with a small chuckle, wondering if the other would catch on. Kai was actually quite proud of Luhan for being able to do so well on his own and also a little glad that he came. He wasn't sure if his heart could take any more waiting.

Krystal’s lips curved into a smirk as she listened in on the plan. Pranking the uptight Yoona unni was way overdue. She wondered how come no one’s ever done it before, or if anyone ever attempted but never lived to tell the tale. It’s been too long since they pulled any pranks on anyone. The last one they ever did ended up with the victim crying in a club, and they had both been too busy since then. “How long did it take you to come up with this?” She knew Yoona was a thorough woman, and if they got busted for this, it was serious trouble for them both. 

Was he seriously asking her if she wanted in? “Kim Jongin, I am disappointed in you,” she said. “We’ve been friends for so many years and you still ask me if I want in on this? Of course I do.” She laughed as she looked around to check if anyone was listening in. One wrong person in here and the plan was going to go up in smoke before they could even begin. Thankfully, they were alone in the lobby. “So what’s the plan? Please tell me you’ve thought this through properly.”

"About... one and a half hours. Or well, to be fair, I've been wanting to prank someone for a while and when I heard her on the phone, it was like some door just opened up showing the perfect opportunity. There was nothing else to do but take it." Kai grinned. He knew he wasn't the best at coming up with plans, but that was why he had Krystal. He was usually the one to execute while Krystal was the mastermind behind all the great pranks they've pulled. Kai hoped the other would be able to shed some light onto his rather simple prank.

Kai shrugged at her statement. "Well, I don't know. The great Krystal Jung can be spotty at times. I don't want to misjudge, okay?" He watched as Krystal looked around and he followed her, also scanning the room for any snoopers before leaning in, and explaining in a hushed voice, his plan. "First we go up to the tech floor and make sure no one's there. Then we sneak up to her desk and lying on top should be her folder for her project that's due tomorrow. We take it and hide under her desk with some tape. Tomorrow when she comes to work to pick it up, it will be gone. She will go through everything only to find it taped under her desk. Knowing how obsessive Yoona can be when it comes to work, she will definitely freak. What do you think?"

Sehun was late. He was well aware of the fact. Yet, the knowledge did nothing to make him hurry his steps. He knew that Kai wouldn’t care a whole lot. He wasn’t surprised when he arrived to his destination, all the lights were off except for the single light but Kai’s desk. He made his way over to the desk, pulling up a chair and sitting down opposite the other male. 

He leaned forward and tugs a pile of blueprints toward him, looking over them. There couldn’t be any flaws with the prototype or else both Kai and he would get their asses chewed out and the project would be canceled. He glanced up from the papers and over at Kai. “Did you bring all the supplies?”

Kai didn't look up to see who it was when someone pulled up a chair and settled down in front of him. He knew it was Sehun without question because no one else would be up this late. He nodded at the latter's question, eyes still trained on the bug. "Yes, I was prepared unlike someone who is obviously late for a meeting that was supposed to take place at 9. It is now 10." Kai looked up to stare pointedly at the other. He watched as Sehun looked over the blueprints and sighed, "Anyways, I already started assembling the bug if you want to check that out, too. Make sure nothing's out of place." He pushed the pieces to Sehun and turned to his computer, making sure his list of reminders were all noted and fulfilled.

Kai couldn't risk getting the project rejected just because of some silly mistake. They've been working too hard for this to simply go down the drain. It was him and Sehun's first big project together unlike previous ones where they just fixed weapons or suggested ways of improving already existing designs. However, with this weapon, it was actually going to be used in the field by agents and he hopes they like it because it's going to be revolutionary for all those out-of-sight places you wished you could throw a grenade into, but can't.

Kai sat at his desk, blueprints surrounding him and tools scattered all around with what looks like a pile of wires and eight bent needles laying right in front of him. He stared at the disassembled bug, scrutinizing every detail from the tiny pack of explosives snug in the middle of wires and a metallic rib cage to each of the eight camera lenses that sat in front, wiped and cleaned to shining perfection. Its silver shell was right beside it flipped upside down for further inspection. This was him and Sehun's collaboration to make a new weapon: the SK spiderlings. It was a bomb in the form of a spider with cameras to give vision of the surrounding area. When commanded to a certain location, it will explode upon reaching it or you may manually do so with a controller that he has yet to contact the tech department about.

Sehun and Kai have been working on the little bug for months. They agreed to assemble the prototype tonight and so here he was, sitting in the office waiting for the latter. The only light in the room was his since everyone else has gone to bed. But he didn't mind because he liked working in the dark. The ceiling lights blinded him since the windows outside showed nothing but black and the Seoul nightlife which was already bright enough. He really didn't need anymore. Plus, Kai was a creature of the dark as mentioned many times by his colleagues. The only time they saw him during the day was if there was a meeting or something else where attendance was mandatory. He preferred to work at night and it wasn't like he ever missed a deadline. Of course he got scolded for this, but Kai eventually got back into the same routine every time and even Lee Sooman was tired of yelling at him.

Misinterpretations ♕ Luhan and Kai

The moment Luhan was confirmed that it was really the person he was in Korea for in the first place, Luhan felt the mixture of emotions in him which freaked him out. He couldn’t do anything but run away from there taking his bags as well hoping to brush the other one out. He kept running, having no idea where his legs were carrying him. All he knew was that he wasn’t ready to face him yet. 

As he ran away from what was the reason for him being in Korea, Luhan had his memories flashing in front of his eyes as he ran. He remembered every second he had spent with him from the beginning till the end. After running several blocks from the store Luahn’s legs started to give up as he slowed down a little but was caught up with Kai in no time. The blonde stayed quiet as he panted from all the running and kept his eyes on the ground refusing to look up at him. 

Luhan remembered him being the weaker one when they had first met, when Kai had rescued him, he still remembered himself being the weak one when Kai had left and told him to stay in China. Even today he was weak that he couldn’t face him and ask him why Kai hadn’t told him the reason to be in China and that had misled him to be what he was today. 

Hearing Kai speak out in mandarin, his eyes shifted up instantly looking in the darker ones in front of him. “I .. I …” Luhan didn’t know whether to tell the truth or not. Whether to hide the fact that he wasn’t a good guy anymore. The blonde stayed quiet as he kept looking at Kai wanting to hug him tightly and tell him how much he missed him, but something inside him kept him from doing that instead he decided to say half of what was the truth, speaking out in clear mandarin “I came looking for you…”

Kai's heart broke hearing Luhan's response and stood there speechless for a moment. He couldn't believe he affected the other this much. "But, but. I told you not to. It's useless and dangerous especially with my occupation. And you don't even speak the language. Don't you miss Beijing? What about your family?" Kai dropped his hand and sighed. "I'm not even worth searching for. There's probably someone better elsewhere." He was a terrible person (as noted many times by Siwon) and an even worse boyfriend. Heck, he couldn't even make his best friend stay. He wasn't quite sure why Luhan would ever want him.

Also, Kai thought it was just a one time thing. It'd be crazy to think otherwise and people would just tell him he's hopeless and just move on. He's tried but it'd be a lie to say he hasn't been thinking about him everyday since. He couldn't help it. He hears a puppy and is reminded of how Luhan's face lights at the sight of them. He sees some students messing around with a rubik's cube and his mind automatically goes to the way Luhan's brows crinkle as he concentrates on the colored squares. And now, the person that occupied all his memories was standing right in front of him. It was overwhelming.

Yea, maybe they did spend a lot of time together and maybe it was the best time of his life, but still, he didn't expect it to come to this. He's never had someone make such a big life decision for him before and he's caught between being touched and guilty. Luhan had a good life going for him in Beijing. He was going to take over his father's company and he would have money. It would be safe. In a way, he guessed they were kinda similar and that's why Kai liked him. Because Kai lacked love and affection and maybe Luhan did, too.

Misinterpretations ♕ Luhan and Kai

Without his knowledge of the other’s presence in the same store, Luhan was doing his weekly grocery shopping. Living alone in Korea meant he had to do everything himself. The blonde was oblivious to the fact that the one he came to Korea for was behind him in the same line. Language had been a bit of problem for Luhan when he arrived to Korea but being in Korea for the last 2 and half years, and being a fast learner, he had picked up the language pretty fast.

Luhan was busy with Rubik cube again; his favorite past time. He had his eyes on the cube as the cashier checked and calculated the items he had bought. Luhan being careful of his health always bought the healthy items, his eyes lifted up lazily when he heard the cashier speaking to him asking about the bag, “Plastic please.” He gave the cashier, which happened to be a female, his famous cute soft smile and returned his gaze to the cube in his hand that was more important at the moment for him.

His hands stopped as he heard noise behind him. His ears perked up at the noise that the basket made when it fell on the floor. He still kept his eyes on the cube as his hands resumed their swift movement, but they slowed to halt when he heard the voice. His eyes stayed on the cube but they were widened at the voice. Lifting his head he instantly turned around and stood there frozen in his place. Facing the one he was searching for and keeping an eye on for the past year and half made him feel numb for a second before he felt another emotion take over him. Looking over at the counter he quickly paid, and grabbed the bags rushing out not wanting to see the other one… just yet.

Kai watched as the other turned around to look at him. Doe eyes met his and he was brought back to the alley where he first met Luhan, in a mess of knives and poorly aimed punches.The man had the blonde pinned to floor when Kai arrived in perfect timing kicking him away. This trance was broken when Luhan suddenly suddenly turned away and bolted, bags sloshing around at his side and Kai close behind. He abandoned his unpaid basket of food to the floor of the store and followed the blonde tuft of hair through crowds of people. He weaved past ahjummas who yelled at him waving their canes and hurried business men cursing loudly at him under their breath. He was still hungry and his stomach growled obnoxiously. He felt like throwing up his previous night's intake of alcohol but this was not the time for that. Right now he is chasing his long lost love and he refuses to stop until he catches him.

By the time he does, they are several blocks away from the convenience store and he's unsure of what to do next. He's always had a hard time knowing what to say or do in front of others, and this flaw multiplies by a thousand and one when he's in front of Luhan. His hand is still on the other's shoulder when he hesitates and asks, "W-what are you doing here, Luhan?" He says it in mandarin, tongue tripping over the syllables from lack of use, but Kai felt nothing foreign about the bony shoulder he now clutched in his hand. Luhan felt like home, a home he's stumbled upon after days of hopeless wandering. A home that vanished after he left it, only coming back at the time he needed it most. It smelled of strawberry shampoo and was always warm with laughter, its rooms lit with bright smiles and doe like eyes. He missed home and now that he stumbled upon it once again, he doesn't think he ever wants to leave.

Misinterpretations ♕ Luhan and Kai

Kai walked down the convenience store aisles, picking up a bag of chips here and another one there, stuffing his already full basket with various candies and snacks along with several cups of ramen. He wasn't sure why he needed to buy so much, but hey, he was hungry and that seemed like a legitimate enough reason for him. Scanning the store once more, he shrugged and deemed his basket full. Kai had gone drinking the previous night and after he got over the pounding headache that sounded a lot like the music in the club, he decided he was hungry. He was craving something salty and totally unhealthy, but when he went to open the cabinets, there were no more ramen. So he put on some pants and went downstairs to the gas station down the road.

Kai stood in line for the cashier, taking note of the blonde in front of him. The color vaguely reminded him of someone but he couldn't exactly put a finger on it. Dismissing it, he took out his phone and scrolled through his messages. The cashier asked the blonde if he wanted paper or plastic bags and the latter replied easily, "Plastic please." But it wasn't the answer that made Kai drop his basket to the ground, phone about to follow before he managed to pull himself together and catch it. Everybody stared at him. No, it was the voice. He knew that voice anywhere, but he couldn't believe he'd be hearing it here- in Korea. "Luhan?" His voice was full of uncertainty and disbelief. No, he couldn't be here... He's supposed to be in China, safe.
