“No, not a threat,” his voice trailed off as he continued examining the device in his hand. “It’s for your own safety. This seems to be motion activated, one sudden movement and it could blow.”
Her edginess was evident, but who could blame her? She had been trained to always be alert, on a perpetual fight rather than flight. That kind of conditioning made people guarded, cynical even. And while he had never seen himself as a soldier, he understood her: people were out there to get you, you had to be three steps ahead.
“Typical me, isn’t it? To be the one behind things that go boom?” A jab at that resentment she probably still had for what he had done to Supergirl. With pliers in hand, he cut off the cable and the artifact powered down with a soft hum. “There. Sometimes I even surprise myself.”
@agentmatahari from here .
She was still as a statue, hesitant to even breath as her brain went through a million scenarios which involved mostly her punching the millionaire in retaliation for this scenario. She felt panic settle in the back of her throat as her solider instincts took over, she was the epitome of calm and collected in the face of danger , eyes open as she waited for him to do SOMETHING. She knew Max , as much as she didnt like it, and she was aware he wouldnt intentionally harm the Agent anymore. Atleast she let herself hope so .
As the artifact shut down , spinning on her feet to face him and charge towards him, grabbing the pliers out of his hands before setting them down on the table. Her breaths where just barely out of line, only the most careful eye to detail would notice such a thing as she tilted her head at him, lips pressed into a thin line as she almost taunted him in her serious sort of way.
“ What brings you back Maxwell? I thought you had left National City for good after the last fiasco . Its been months since I’ve last heard of you much less seen you, you’ve been off grid. You can see why that is suspicious. “
Her mind whirled a mile a minute as she stared him down, and she frowned as he brain went back to the first time they met, her questioning of his lonely lifestyle and finding herself caught up in his passionate eyes. How Naive she had been, she had sworn she would never let this man get the better of her and her sister ever again, though even now her fate had just rested in his hands. Oh how she loathed the scenario, how unfortunate her luck was for him to show up just as her heart was in pain of refusal of another almost lover. It seemed that whatever higher power was out there was out to play a cruel trick on her.
