it is a privilege to learn about racism instead of experiencing it your whole life.
It's often smart to look at where you live and who you are through the eyes of an "outsider".
As a child growing up in the United States, I remember learning in school about other governments and especially about their politicians.
Mostly, I learned how politicians in other countries were getting unfair bailouts, were accepting bribes (donations) to pass laws etc, how they had militarized police to protect them, how the media helped pump their agendas, and how they were among the 1% of population. K-12 Education taught me that was corruption.
I was taught how lucky we are to live in a democracy with fairly voted leaders and how our politicians were public servants…. but now that I’m older and I’ve taken off my rose colored glasses toward my country I realize that it’s exactly the same in the USA.
If you donate quite a large sum of cash to a politician it’ll swing their vote, gerrymandering is prevalent all over the country displacing votes and constricting voter rights, media outlets *cough*FOX NEWS*cough* are incessantly biased toward certain parties, the U.S. has police that are becoming more and more militarized with diplomatic immunity, and the large majority of our politicians are part of the 1%. Have you ever googled your politicians net worth? Try it.
All I’m saying is that… life becomes more clear once you take off your rose colored glasses and see things for what they are.
