it does actually kill me that iroh and ozai must have loved each other as kids the same way azula and zuko did before it all went wrong

like before they were the dragon of the west and the “pheonix king” they would’ve just been iroh and ozai. iroh would’ve chased his little brother around and ozai would’ve snuck into his big brother’s room at night to stay up late and tell stories

and eventually they would’ve grown apart, ozai resenting iroh for his claim to the throne and iroh not being able to do anything about it except watch his little brother, his best friend, get angrier and meaner. definitely didnt help that azulon favoured iroh too

all this to say, i cant imagine how iroh felt watching his brother hold his nephew down and burn off half his face, wondering if he was still allowed to love him after this
