He’d drilled for this, mentally going through the steps that would happen as he was told. Still, Grant’s hands were shaking as he pushed them into the scrubs that was offered by the nurse. He pulled a cap on over his head and then gloves before he was ushered into the delivery room and given a short stool beside his wife, a sheet spread over her lap and hanging up some between him and her stirrup held legs. He offered her a little smile. “It’s okay. It’ll all be okay.” This time, it was his mantra to hold onto his sanity in the middle of everything. It seemed that the drugs they’d pushed into the IV drip in her arm was starting to help with the pain a little bit, she didn’t seem to be as consumed by it. Grant took her hand on his own, thumbs interlocked. “I’m scared too,” he admitted, his eyes a little wet in the emotion of the moment. Grant was nothing if not a good crier. “…but we’re going to be all right. And soon our little son or daughter will be here with us and… it will be perfect. You’re perfect. You’re my life. And I love you so very much.” His other hand touched the top of her head and he leaned closer, lips finding Dianna’s for a long moment before the door opened up and the rest of the team streamed in. Grant straightened up a little bit. “Just remember ladies and gentleman no flash photography… that was not a pun,” he added to the ‘flash’ part. “Anything below that waistline is mine. As is anything above.”
As the pain subsided in her lower back and abdomen, Dianna could finally find it in herself to focus on something other than the contractions that had been taking over her body -- her husband. The man now sat right beside her, who was doing everything in his power to assure her - and probably himself, too - that everything was going to be okay. She’d be fine, the baby would be healthy.. they’d be great parents, it’d all go wonderfully. At leat, as wonderfully as possible when you’re pushing a small child out of your body. The blonde wondered in that very moment how she’d managed to get so lucky to be married to someone as fantastic as Grant. He supported her and loved her throughout absolutely everything in life -- this, especially. She smiled softly over to him, beads of sweat rolling down her forehead - she was sure she looked like the biggest mess on the planet, but it didn’t matter - her hand in his as she breathed deep and heavy. “I love you an I can’t wait to meet this little one.. for you to meet this little one.. to be parents,” her voice was breathy, but genuine. “This sucks.. this part fucking sucks,” she sighed, “but I know I’d do it again.. if the edgame is having a new little baby to hold.” The actress kissed him back, very slowly, until the medical team came walking through the door. Dianna rolled her eyes at her husband’s comment, knowing that he could truly get a little posessive if he actually thought someone was looking at her in an inappropriate way, but she knew that he knew they were professionals. It was all just part of the job. Soon enough, everything and everyone was in place and as soon as a contraction came on, it was time to push. The woman tried to mentally and physically prepare, but there was no preperation for how strenuous the whole process actually was. She managed to hold back screaming the first time, so much so that her face seemed to simultaneously be turning bright red and blue. As soon as it was over, her body fell back against the bed and she breathed in deep. A good hour of pushing later, she could finally hear that sound -- a baby’s cry. The cry that sent a flood of emotions rushing through her body and in an instant, tears were rolling down her cheeks. “A couple more pushes, Dianna. Then your baby’s here,” the doctor spoke as he held the child’s head. A couple more pushes and there he was.. she felt little kicks on her thighs before the doctor held up the newborn, “It’s a boy. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Gustin, you have son!”
