every day I think I've seen the worst of transandrobro vileness and then I get the one two punch of "but trans men are denied access to women's shelters too :(" followed by "homeless trans women should be required to remove organs to be allowed into women's shelters"

the insane thing is I truly did try to go in with an open mind too. like "yeah it does seem like a difficult bind cause I know a men's shelter would not always be safe--oh you think trans women have The Rape Organ and we should be forced to have it removed if we want to not be homeless"

why can't a homeless woman just trade one of her organs for shelter? I'm sure she can scrounge up a couple bucks to pay for the removal and survive several more months on the street while she waits for her surgery date

let me know if this is derailing in any way, i feel as though can add something to this.

i am a trans man in a women's shelter. i believe i officially became homeless in july 2025 and ive been residing in this shelter since late august 2025. granted, i have white privilege and ive been 100% closeted while ive resided here but im sure if i revealed that i am a trans man who's been on testosterone for almost a year now they wouldn't shove me out (not that im eager to test it out)

i say all this because i live in texas. we had a bathroom ban pass that included barring SPECIFICALLY trans women from domestic abuse shelters & support

now, if a trans woman in texas like me wanted to try my strategy of being closeted to the shelter in order to receive support, she would have an extremely difficult time finding unisex or men's shelters that didn't include needing to pay something daily/weekly/monthly after a little bit of time (sometimes after a few days, how is that nearly enough time to find a job??). she especially would have a difficult time finding transitional housing like i did, which is LEAGUES better than a regular shelter. i only know of three lgbt and trans accepting housing program in my area, one is for youth specifically and usually full, one got shut down, and one is a 30 day hotel voucher program. everything else in dallas-fort worth is for young (cis) women, single mothers, homeless families, or men over 40 specifically (trust me, i looked through every single transitional housing option in dfw when i was first homeless)

so yes, trans men get accepted to women's shelters. and utilizing my same strategies to get accepted, a trans woman would have much much more trouble. i love you my sisters, im sorry its so hard for you.

if i ever wrote a character that was not meant to be eggy but the girls started telling me she's 100% a trans girl i wouldn't be saying "art is subjective, though He wasn't written with that intention" or any of that bullshit, i'd be saying "woohoo", "fuck yes", "this is the best thing to ever happen to me" and things of similar nature

I'm gonna say it, I do think that even the laziest person imaginable should have a roof over their head, food in their stomach, and access to healthcare

a lot of people are reblogging this saying that most "lazy" people are actually just disabled or that the concept of laziness itself is a product of our society's obsession with productivity. this is all true, but it is not my point.

even if someone WAS just lazy and simply didn't want to do anything but lie on the couch and watch tv, they should still have these things. it's irrelevant whether some people aren't actually lazy because everyone, including hypothetical lazy people, should have their basic needs met.

if we have the resources to do it, there is no defense of letting people die because they don't want to work, and much less because they can't.

I don't want lazy people to have basic necessities because they "actually" deserve them because they ARE working or CAN'T work. I want lazy people to have basic necessities because they are people, and we shouldn't leave them to die when we have the resources not to.

and to be clear regarding that last bit. it is entirely within your right to be bigender and nonbinary and do drag shows and hang out with gay men as a trans woman BUT ALSO if you cant understand that there are still people, within and without the queer community, within and without the transfem community, who want us to be Sorta Men and Not Reeeally Women, and the importance of saying I LOVE TRANS WOMEN WHO ARE WOMEN AND NOT MEN
