i can’t believe this stupid series finale was so bad it brought me back on tumblr after five years and here i am at 1am, talking and arguing with strangers about a fucking tv show instead of writing my thesis, i feel like i’m sixteen again fml
the massive shade jensen threw at cw and the series finale in that one pannel a week before the episode actually aired, when asked about his favorite creature on the show he answered « vampires ; i always like playing dean going into a vampire nest, because i kinda feel like he understands it the most, and he knows how to battle these things, and he has fun doing it »

Oh well he was thinking from an audience perspective because it sure as hell did not sit right with us either
show runners started writing a show about two brothers, and they liked that idea. they introduced a new character in s4 to boost their failing viewings and initially expected said character to only last for a couple episodes. the thing is, the fans ended up liking castiel so much he eventually stayed for twelve more seasons while his appearance in episodes directly influenced the show ratings. ever since, everything castiel and misha collins brought to the show went against what the show runners had expected in the first place. the chemistry of his character and dean’s character, the annihilation of every single one of dean’s love interests because suddenly, none of them made sense anymore, the queerness it brought to the show was frowned upon by the show runners so much they deliberately went against in in every single story line, until they realized they could get money and new audiences out of it.
the thing is, the show runners only ever cared about the brothers. actually, scratch that. they only ever cared about sam, who was supposed to be the main lead until jensen ackles started portraying his character so well that more and more people were rooting for dean, which ended up in dean being given more screen time, and more plot lines, which was bittersweet seeing how much the writers loved torturing his character.
but the show runners cared about sam. so they killed castiel off, their third lead, their third main character whose viewings literally depended on, two episodes before the grand finale. and then twenty minutes into said finale, they killed dean off, because that’s what he was supposed to do. the protective big brother with a savior complex, daddy’s little soldier, the one who could not even imagine having a life of his own, who could never be free. they killed him off like none of what castiel said in his epiphany mattered. they killed him off like they were in season 2.
show runners started writing a show about two brothers, and they liked that idea so much they couldn’t see past fifteen years of character developments and storylines, and both professional and fan feedbacks. they reclaimed their precious show and robbed us of everything we had come to care about like it was nothing, like it was a one shot, six episodes long mini series.
people believe spn fans are pissed because the series finale is poorly written. but that’s not really what we are pissed about.
we are pissed, because the show runners realized their story wasn’t theirs anymore, because this is what happens when you milk a story for fifteen years, it evolves beyond your initial expectations, and it’s supposed to. but the show runners didn’t like that, and they reclaimed their story in the most violent and disrespectful way, and this is why you can watch the series finale straight after the very first episode and still understand everything. because every single developments the show has ever made has been looked upon and discarded like it was nothing.
this is the most agressive “if i can’t have it the way i wanted it, then neither will you” i’ve ever witnessed in a tv show.
People are comparing the Game of Thrones ending to Supernatural’s ending…please don’t disrespect Supernatural like that. GoT’s ending was so bad that it made people stop talking about the show and refuse to rewatch the show. Season 8 of GoT had sets that didn’t even look like previous seasons and they left a Starbucks cup in one of the scenes. It was clear that the writers did not care about the show anymore - they just wanted it to be over. While the Supernatural ending had a lot of issues with it, it did not sink to that level. It was clear that they did try to make a good finale, they just made some poor writing choices. If those writing choices had been better, it would have been a better episode.
didn’t it though ? everybody who has actually watched spn for the past fifteen years said something was up with this season. that the writing was rushed, that the characters were ooc, that the storylines didn’t make sense (and that says a lot about a show that never even bothered to make sense in the first place), that the aesthetic of the show was off... that everything was off really.
it’s not just about bad writing, because spn has been poorly written for the past five-ish seasons. this is not what the fans are having an issue with. we are pissed because everything the writers have created for the past fifteen years, everything we have come to care about, has been flushed down the toilet. because major storylines went unresolved. because characters have been killed off for no reason (when they didn’t just disappear w/o explanation), not even shock value. because main characters didn’t even look like themselves anymore. because we could actually see the actors struggling with poorly written intrigues. because the series finale deliberately went against everything the show has ever stood for until now. because “family don’t end in blood” and “free will wins” were promised time and time and time again, but never given. because even main characters, lead characters, were treated so badly the actors actually spoke against it. because the audience, who even stopped caring/watching/expected endgame for two queer characters got queerbaited only to boost the series finale viewings. because major arcs, revelations, and plot lines went by, unquestioned, unsolved, and unfinished.

that is literally all we asked for, we didn’t even have to see him, and they could not even do that, how incredible

they literally wrote it, they literally acknowledged it, they literally had dean say it “if you don’t keep on living, all that sacrifice will be for nothing” only to kill him off ten fucking minutes later ? really ? REALLY ? so it really was all for nothing
you know what ? i would’ve been okay with this shitshow of an ending if it happened after season 2 or something like that. but you can’t reasonably write a show for fifteen years if this is how you’re gonna end it. that’s not an ending for a 15+ long show. that’s not.
You can’t give us character developments, and relationships, and build ups, and tensions, and lessons if you just want to suddenly flush those down the toilet once you realize your story has gone beyond what you initially expected and you want to regain some kind of control over it, you can’t start storylines if you’re not gonna resolve them, you can’t make a whole show about how “family don’t end in blood” and “free will is all that matters” if you decide to end with an episode that is basically saying the exact opposite. that’s just plain disrespectful. to the actors, to the crew, to the fans, to anybody who has ever been emotionally invested in your show, even in the slightest way. stop wasting people’s time.

I have a feeling this is about spn so lemme just pop in real quick ; the writer of that episode is a gay man, a gay man who’s been trying his very best to include as mich lgbt+ content he could in a show produced by homophobic twats. I work in the movie industry and lemme tell you guys, stop blaming the writers. The writers have little to no creative freedom when it comes to big shows and blockbusters. The producers, the showrunners, the channel executives are the ones you wanna be mad at, because they’re the ones who call the shots. This spn writer gave us what he could with what he was allowed to. And he did gave us a beautiful scene. Let’s just not be mad at him, okay?

Tisbe. is. such. an. underrated. character
I mean, i know you see, i know Angelo Tyrant of Padua ain’t Victor Hugo’s most popular play (sure it’s not as unpopular as Cromwell but still) and i know people who read Hugo for fun are not running the streets and therefore i know this post won’t likely make sense to anyone but STILL
Idc about the drama rules, idc that your characters must be damaged and tortured and hurting and burdened with shitty lives and cruel fate, you had NO RIGHT Hugo, no fucking right to hurt my beloved Tisbe like you did.
One cannot create such a beautiful, complex smart and in the end, fucking selfless character to end up beating the living shit out of them. I mean come on, poor girl being raised by a poor mother but managing to be happy nevertheless because the love her mother had for her was enough to satisfy her until the day that one asshole of an ambassador decides to bloody hang said mother for no apparent reason but the fact he was offended by a motherfucking song. Of course the girl is devastated, WHO WOULDN’T BE, but sweet new girl comes in and begs for her mother’s life and you think, jeez thank god, she can live in peace now but QUE NENNI my friends, her mother passes away a few years later and she becomes an actress and everyone loves her and you think that’s great but nope, not at all, ‘cause she also became the mistress of a motherfucking podestat who happens to be a bloody tyran, everyone either hates or fear him and she has to be with that man who claims to be in love with her when really, that’s just lust, but that’s fine because the girl has a lover whom she truly loves, a man called Rodolfo who is really, the only good thing in his life but NOPE AGAIN, said asshole Rodolfo doesn’t love Tisbe, he loves bloody Catarina, sweet good Catarina who happens to be the podestat’s legitimate wife. Now what, think that’s cheesy, and cliché ? Yes maybe, but it’s also fucking tragic because guess what, Tisbe, who only ever kept putting up with life (‘cause man ! that girl’s heavily depressed behind that bloody mask of sarcasm) for the love of her beloved Rodolfo comes to learn that said guy sleeps with Caty so she goes in, check for herself, threaten that bloody wife, only to find out that this girl she hates for stealing her bloody boyfriend happens to be the girl who saved HER MOTHER all those years ago, she’s shattered really and the podestat also learns that his wife is sleeping with another so what ? He SENTENCES HER TO DEATH no more and no less, and that could be just as great, cause no Catarina, no cheating Rodolfo = Tisbe can go on with her life, but nah man, ‘cause that chick is selfless you see, she doesn’t get the point of living if the only man she has truly ever loved doesn’t love her back, so she sets some plan up, tricks the podestat into thinking she poisoned his wife as he asked her to and start planning Rodolfo and Catarina’s great escape but Rodolfo, OH RODOLFO THAT GOOF, stumbles on fucking Catarina’s FAKE dead corpse (when really, she’s just asleep, jeez) and believes TISBE KILLED HER so he breaks her already destroyed heart, saying he wants her dead, that she killed the only woman he’s ever loved, THE ONLY ONE, YOU SEE, AND TISBE AGREES EVEN THOUGH SHE DID NOT JUST TO SET HIM OFF SO THAT HE CAN KILL HER AND SHE CAN DIE IN HIS ARMS BECAUSE REALLY that’s the only thing she wants by now, dying in the arms of the man she loves knowing he is and will forever be happy -- but who will bloody care about her, huh ? who cares about her happiness and what she wants from life, who cares about Tisbe’s well being ? NO ONE. NOT EVEN TISBE HERSELF. So Rodolfo DOES kill her, and she fucking DIES and that’s NOT FAIR, and I HATE VICTOR HUGO
so you thought Snape and Lily was a sad love story ? You thought Romeo and Juliet was tragic ? No folks, i’m not taking that shit of mutual endless shakespearian love for something poetic and beautiful, i’m not taking that one sided crazy love as something tragic, TISBE IS BLOODY TRAGIC AND SAD AND I FEEL SORRY FOR HER, and i’m not saying that just because i portrayed her on stage and it is rule #1 that actors must have some love and compassion for the character they’re playing, i’m saying that because i genuinely, deeply care about that character, because she’s a soft and fierce woman who got destroyed by men in a men’s world but who still got the final word in that bloody play, i love her alright, and if i could, trust me when i say that i’d kick Hugo’s fucking ass right away
