It is half past seven in the evening and Mr. Waylon White has finally finished doing the laundry in a nice laundry room. He wants to now go and see what his daughter is doing in her bedroom. He is expecting to find her playing with rag dolls there because she does that a lot. White is a tall mustachioed man. He teaches English at the best school in the country and lives the kind of life which can only be associated with moneyed people.
Waylon is a single father; he had adopted a girl from an orphanage some years ago. The two of them live in a cottage which is owned by his parents. His parents do not live there anymore; they live very far away but could return to living with them in the cottage again someday.
“Are you playing with your dolls again?” shouts Waylon from the first step of a wrought iron staircase.
“Yes!” Bellerose shouts back from her room.
“Can you come downstairs for some time? I want you to help me make dinner tonight.”
“I will come downstairs after five minutes!”
“Alright! Come straight to the kitchen then.”
Waylon also wants to spend some time with his child in his bed after they have had dinner. He wants to read a book with her before it is bedtime for the two of them but he doubts if it will be possible to do that.
“Bellerose will probably want to try styling her hair into a braided bun again in her bathroom after we have finished having dinner.”, he thinks as he enters the kitchen, “I will not let her do it! She must spend more time with me!”
