BIOGRAPHY.

April was born in Atlanta, GA to Gabriel and Andressa Huxley, the middle child of three and lived with the middle child complex until she was a teenager.

When she was 14, her parents sat the children down and announced they were getting a divorce, Andressa fell out of love with her husband and Gabriel was too focus on work, both factors collided in the mother cheating on him and after talking things out they decided it was the best for the family.

It was clear for April siblings that they wanted to stay with their mother yet she felt somehow more connected with their dad and so she moved with him to Crestmont, South Carolina where he grew up in. In a new home, April stepped away from her siblings’ shadow and developed a rather upbeat personality, eager to learn new things and meet new people, something that surprised her mother and siblings on the occasions they met on the years following the divorce.

April also develop an eye for design. She left Crestmont to assist college and majored in Architecture, getting into some interior design program as well as it was what really interested her and was good at.

She stayed in Columbia after graduating, however, April was facing problems with her boyfriend and instead of staying and figuring things out, she bailed, moved back to Crestmont and applied for a position at Lucy’s Designs where she has been working for five months now while she tries to get used to the new routine and make amends with her decisions.

it didn’t take much for roxie to be tempted into something sweet, and one of her biggest vice’s was the array of sweet treats that were always on display when she was getting her afternoon iced latte. she told herself no more than one sweet treat a week with said beverage but she told herself; who was going to know? “if you ask me, if pastry is involved then it’s not a failure. but that’s just me.” she explained, her head turning towards the brunette. “besides, you probably worked out hard enough to allow yourself a treat. and even if you didn’t, i wouldn’t tell.”

April snickered at Roxie’s words. “Oh, you know you and I are on the same boat about that.” She pointed out with amusement. Ever since they met they just clicked and found they have so much in common. “I did!” April claimed overdramatically, as if the thought just hit her. “I deserve it.” She nodded. “And it’s destiny that I found you here. We can have something together if you’re not in a hurry.” She suggested, there was a time were the two of them would get together out of the blue, go out, now with work, it tended to get in the way.

“Thank you again!” Lola called back to one of the employees who had handed her the bags for her order. She had a late meeting at the college today, and had swung by to pick her up refreshments for the meeting. Sweets seemed to keep people happy and they kept their attention during a meeting. “April!” Lola said brightly. “How are you? If you want something yummy, you could always come to my meeting.”

April smiled at Lola, chuckling at her offering and eying the amount of things the woman was carrying. “Looking at all the stuff you got there I might! Though I’d have to get a shower first.” She joked. “How many people are you having for that meeting, girl? Might be important if you’re trying to sweet them.” She teased.

Noah was thankful that there wasn’t an accident when the two girls ran into the street and he was equally as grateful that they’d been running to someone they knew and not a stranger. April has been by a few times to check on them since Noah had arrived in town and he was thankful to have someone who knew Allison around. He imagined that this loss was harder on her than it was on him, after all, he didnt even know the woman. “Yeah, I figured since we were out it might be nice to get some ice cream after dinner.” He looked down at Hannah’s messy face as she held her arms up for April to pick her up. “What about you? Doing okay?” He glanced down at Megan who was already starting to interrupt him to speak. “Auntie April can we stay the night at your house?!” She asked excitedly as Noah shook his head to tell her it was a school night. “Maybe if you ask nicely, Auntie April will come over sometime this week and play with you guys after school hm?”

“That’s good, y’all deserve it.” April snickered, bending to pick up Hannah and using her hip to support the kid’s weight “Yeah, yeah, I’m good.” She started answering Noah’s question and just when she was about to turn the same question to him —because she was quite interesting in how he was handling being the girls’ guardian out of a blue — Megan dropped a question. When their uncle turned down the idea, April got slghtly defensive, her mouth opening ready to tell Megan it was totally okay. However, she cut herself before screwing things up. Sure, she knew the girls better than Noah did but she realized she had no right in oversteping their guardian authority, it would turn things more complicated in the future.

“Your uncle is right. It’s weekday and you guys have school, I got work.” April clicked her tongue as if the plans ahead for the next day disgusted her. “But we can do something over the weekend.” She agreed, looking at Noah and nodding at him, silently saying she backed him up. “And I can join you for an ice cream if you want.” She suggested.

Cel enjoyed a work out, but she enjoyed cake more and was already stood in her yoga pants with a slice of triple chocolate cake when the woman joined the queue. She took one look at her and assumed she’d attended the same gym. Cel wasn’t a regular gym go-er. Her schedule rarely allowed it. But when she did get to go with a few friends, she enjoyed it. “Failure is a part of life” She replied with her mouth half full. “You should try the whipped cream too. it’s aweeesome.”

April turned to the woman at the when she addressed words of wisdom in reply to her monologue and laughed, pointed at her knowingly. “Exactly. You know how it is.” She said in a joking tone, now she paid the other more attention, she looked vaguely familiar, by her outfit, April remembered seeing her passing by at the gym and she could totally relate as they were both ready for a snack after working out. “I’ll have it mind, thanks.” She smiled. “You go to The Work Out, right?”

Noah was still trying to figure out how to cook for a family of three, or at all really, so most night the girls ate chicken nuggets or mac and cheese but he was starting to feel a little guilty about that so he’d taken them out to eat at a local diner that evening and was following it up with a trip to the local ice cream parlor. The three were sitting at a little table outside the place and he was watching as the little one made a mess of her hands trying to scoop ice cream into her little mouth. “Hannah you are just…a mess.” He smiled softly and reached out to wipe her hands with a napkin. The older child, Megan, was content licking her waffle cone until her eyes lit up when she spotted someone across the street and she let out a little squeal. “Auntie April!” She cried, jumping up from her seat and darting out into the road, Hannah following suit quickly when she saw her sister running. “Oh shit, come on! Girls! You can’t run into the street!” Noah jumped up and ran after them, watching as Megan threw her arms around a brunette woman on the sidewalk. “I’m so sorry, I can’t believe they just–” He cut himself off because it was obvious they knew this woman and he sighed, running a hand through his hair just thankful there hadn’t been an accident.

It wasn’t weird for April to go running at night, there were days when she didn’t take her breaks at work and therefore skipped her spinning classes, then there were the visits to her dad or else the man would work himself to death, and today was one of the later. So tonight, the brunette got into a tank top, leggings and sneakers and went out to blew some energy running; her head going in all directions until she heard her name being called; looking ahead, left and right, April finally realized who was it and a wide smile spread on her lips as she saw the two girls running towards her. As she stopped on her tracks she checked down the street checking for vehicles, although it was a rather slow night.

“Heeey, kiddos!” She greeted them as she hugged them back, looking up as she heard Noah with a half polite, half awkward smile. She had met Allison’s brother just twice, as she was still trying to give the family some space after what happened. “Yeah, these bugs tend to do that. We talked about it with Megan, haven’t we?” She gave the older sister a knowing glance although it was mostly playful. “How are you guys doing? Having dessert, I see.”

Lucy had a busy day. Her business was buzzing with projects after projects, and since it was summer this was always the most successful time of year for Lucy’s Design Shop. People wanted to redo their bedrooms and bathrooms this time of year, out with the old and in with the new. That’s what her father always said anyway. Sitting in her office going over a few things, the blonde realized it was way past closing time. The lights were out in the main space, and another lamp in another office was on. She took a deep breath, ran her hands through her hair and decided to call it quits for the night. Lucy got up and walked into April’s office, knocking on the door Lucy smiled softly “Get out of here April. We’ll be busy designing tomorrow.” Lucy looked at the brunette and continued with “What are you working on?”

When she was focused on something April tended to loose the track of time, especially if it was something realted to work so it wasn’t new for her to hang out at the design shop until past the closing time if no one reminded her to leave. She considered this a good thing, she liked her work space enough to stay in late letting her creativity flow. “Uh?” She muttered as she heard Lucy’s call and not understanding what she meant, looking up with a frown, April then glanced at the clock on the wall and her eyebrows arched in surprise. “Damn. I didn’t know it was that late.” She chuckled, straightening and twisting left and right to help her spine. “Mrs. Keller new living room, It’s very 90′s and since she recently got divorced she wants to change pretty much everything. So she’s starting there. But I better call it a day.” Pushing the chair back she started to get up and gather her things. “How about you? Why still here so late?”

April was getting out of her spinning class, fresh after a quick shower, hair noticeably out of place after the fast work out, legs slightly woobly but with renewed energy nevertheless, working out was something she complained about. She generally didn’t get cravings once she was done, except that today she took a different path and happened to walk past Noora’s, the smell of pastries filled her nosetrils and didn’t hesitate to turn around and walk into the café.

“Well, there’s always a first time to fail.” She sighed nonchalantly as she started to eye the counter. “I deserve something yummy, too.”
