Only one of the American zeppelins/airships that didn't meet a disastrous end. The Akron, Macon and Shenandoah all crashed. Los Angeles was decommissioned and dismantled.

LZ 86 served on the Eastern Front until it crashed over Romania in fall of 1916. Seen in profile here, it offers a good view of the placement of the upper machine gun platform, one of the crewmen standing there to offer scale.
