persepolis wrecked me each time i watched it. i think my favorite moments are "life isn't pointless, it isn't absurd. some people gave their lives for freedom, you pretentious prick" and "we were so eager to be happy that we forgot we weren't free". satrapi just had it so clear that the small moments of being alive and finding true joy are possible and important within an oppressive regime......
