It’s Mermay. I had so many plans for drawings and didn’t make any of them, so here’s one of my drawings that I hadn’t posted, found on my laptop months after being finished XD.

I can’t believe the thing that got me out of my who-knows-how-long absence was the desire to draw something silly. That’s for my Evolved Desmond AU and also… you cannot convince me Desmond isn’t a Vines child.

Evolved Desmond AU

Time to remember that I have a Tumblr. Long story short: my Assassin’s Creed hyperfixation is still alive, and now it’s going to be your problem too! Assassin’s Creed × Prototype crossover idea, because I’ve wanted to write something for the Alex/Desmond ship for way too long.

Desmond sacrifices himself by activating the Eye — but he doesn’t die immediately. He’s still alive when Abstergo retrieves him. On the way, though, Alex Mercer — returning from his little world tour back to Manhattan (after the first game, before the second), completely disillusioned with humanity and already planning a second outbreak — bored and just fucking around, utterly wrecks their vehicle.

Alex is already being followed by several Evolved, and he basically hands the Abstergo people over to them to be torn apart, watching as the power intoxicates them, how easily humans shed every last trace of their humanity. And then he notices the body bag with Desmond inside — nearly dead. Maybe because of memories of waking up in a morgue, maybe out of sheer curiosity, he infects Desmond.

Like, if he survives and becomes Evolved — good for him. If not — not Alex’s problem.

Except Desmond has extremely high Isu gene markers, and combined with Alex’s virus, he mutates wrong. Externally, the changes might be subtle — but internally, something shifts hard.

Other Evolved have something like an instinctive submission to Alex beneath all their ambition and sadistic tendencies. Desmond, as a strange, incorrect hybrid, doesn’t have that. And he is very much not on board with the whole “killer, terrorist, monster” worldview, grumbling that he didn’t save the world just to watch it die all over again.

So Desmond stays close to Alex, trying to restore his faith in humanity, hissing at the other Evolved and sabotaging world-ending plans whenever he gets the chance. Alex gets angry, threatens him, sometimes snaps and gets aggressive (yes, manhandling is welcome), but he doesn’t kill or absorb Desmond — instead, with near-scientific fascination, he tries to understand what exactly Miles has become after the virus.

Over time, it turns into a twisted game of tug-of-war. Desmond tries to show Alex that humanity is still worth saving and give him hope again. Alex, meanwhile, tries to prove that humans will never change and to pull Desmond over to his side.

The virus’s constant hunger helps him there — because nothing motivates you to finally acknowledge your superiority as a predator quite like the void in your stomach, stealing your thoughts and forcing you to tear into your victims without a shred of guilt.

The other Evolved watch this in confusion, because this is not what they were promised. And Mercer’s new pet unsettles them far more than they’d like to admit — because Desmond monopolizes Alex’s attention, distracts him from their plans, and actively sabotages their work like a little cheeky bastard.

And the fact that Alex still hasn’t put an end to this? That’s a very bad sign.

For some reason, I keep seeing Desmond as that cat you tell “no” to — and he does the thing anyway.

Alex probably has a twitching eye 24/7.

And here's a messy wonky doodle, because I was too lazy to do something normal.

Honestly, I am too fond of him (for some reason) to be mad about yet another defeat. 😂

Honestly, I think I was going somewhere with this. Like, I had a point...

Anyway, this was heavily inspired by mythology, that one episode from Love, Death & Robots — Season 3, Episode 3, “The Very Pulse of the Machine” — and the whole melancholic feeling I get when I think about the tragic endings in legends, games, and other stories. It’s hard to express that exact feeling (especially with the mess in my head) — the ache we get for someone, even if they’re fictional — it’s more about the atmosphere and the vibes, the kind that don’t always make logical sense.

Still, I wanted to participate in Codextober, at least a little, and decided to weave all the references I drew from into something whole. Does it make sense? Good question - I don't have the answer.

Promptlist DNB christmas

A promptlist for DNB christmas event has been created!

The event has a total of 50 prompts, 25 days with 2 prompts each; a main prompt and a sub prompt. You can choose if you want to use the main or the subprompt or both.

The event will last from december 1st (sunday) until christmas day (wednesday, december 25th)

You can draw or write or something entirely else; the possibilities are endless. Anything creative counts. More information will be on the event post.
