do u wanna hear about a kagefuture concept i never SERIOUSLY considered for more than a moment, and was rather an idea i entertained the thought of because, well. it's funny
part 29 and 30, instead of random unnamed food place, would take place at kano's apartment. they wouldn't have left
kano was gonna be forced to cook lunch because why wouldn't he be. ayano's hungry, so duh, he's cooking. he would've been acting sufficiently grumpy about it but wouldn't allow ayano or shintaro to help.
anyways. kano would get so heated about the conversation, he'd end up cutting one of his fingers off. as funny as the moment is it would unravel into... distractions for the communication & healing moments i truly intended with kanoshinaya at this point.
so explore it with me.
why i didn't use it, general reason: im afraid the point of the Serious Conversations kanoshinaya were having would've been completely lost as the urgency changes to something else like one of them getting seriously injured. and while funny, more shenanigans of the sort at THAT point would stretch out the issue to, well, exhaustion. like yes it is funny but also, i would personally get frustrated in a bad way if i was reading this and these idiots still WONT TALK.
other points in logistics of why it wouldn't work:
i would've had to place the shinaya conversation while kano's getting his stupid finger sewn back on #Lmao -> absolutely not. because kano HAD to be there while shintaro and ayano told each other what they told each other. this was non negotiable. kano sitting between the wall, the table and ayano so he'd be stuck there wasn't a random art choice it was necessary to me that he was TRAPPED.
kano being practically out of commission when he's the one most difficult to work with in this conversation -> this was actually what brought in the idea. when i thought of this concept, i hadn't yet thought of "kano locks shintaro up / kano pretends to be shintaro with ayano" bit, so i was still wondering how to exhaust kano to the point of honesty. however, i think it's more satisfying if he is honest on his own terms and not because he's out of it with anesthesia and/or because he's too riled up bc of the situation + again, i think the conversation is already out of the question anyway if any of them gets seriously injured
kano wouldn't be able to be left alone after. ayano stays, she wouldn't accept no as an answer -> i think kano deserved to be alone with his thoughts after everything. ayano too. i did think i could've moved the kano and ayano talk to an overnight, ayano taking care of kano moment, BUT i always pictured kano and ayano's talk going before shinyaki talk + shintaro being there sort of encouraging both was always endearing in my mind. this concept would've simply split them up too much after i spent So Much time trying to get them in the same room again.
if kano gets physically hurt he can't use deceiving -> ayano would see his self harm injuries and that would be another thing added on the pile of things to discuss and i think kano deserves some grace in choosing whether or not someone sees them
why are we still at kano's place? -> since part... 21? seriously? enough. let's get some fresh air!
rushing to the hospital + hospital setting -> too similar to something that will happen anyway. that baby's gotta come out at some point.
jokes i would've used:
ayano in both despair and pride says: ayano tateyama, first aid certified, CPR certified, non smoker! to which shintaro says THIS IS NOT A JOB APPLICATION. DO SOMETHING. with how smart he is shintaro would know what to do but you know damn well ayano is the one doing the dirty work. the bloody work. the grabbing the loose finger work. shintaro's probably stopping kano's bleeding.
shintaro acts more dramatic than kano and comments/thinks he's really forgotten how much people bleed. it really has been a long time and shintaro finds himself realizing how glad he is of how un-used he's become to blood and people getting hurt, especially kano getting hurt, as in shintaro's collection of memories ayano gracefully has never been brutally murdered in front of him like kano has been lol.
shintaro carries kano. kano didn't faint but man, you avoid a conversation for some months and now your finger's in an ice bag? hardly seems fair. might as well get this guy's shirt covered in your blood and make him hold you close for what might as well be the last time....! if only it looked that romantic. shintaro can't lift up kano, so it's not so much "carrying" as it is "dragging"
once inside the car, shintaro tells kano not to get blood in the seats. he only gets blank stares from both kano and ayano. shintaro says Right, and puts on his seatbelt. kano kicks his seat with all the strength he had left in him. i dont actually think shintaro would be that uncouth but hey it's funny
anyways. yeah. i randomly remembered this because i was reading enlightenment's update and i was like, huh, wait, i also... i was a little meaner about it though, huh...
it would've made the comic longer, messier and more frustrating. but you cannot argue it isn't funny. kano would've kept his finger just, yknow, i would've been committed to drawing a scar from then on.
no one can say i torture kano. i could've tortured him more and chose not to. all things considered my comic is very, very kind to kano. "funny" isn't purpose enough to make some shenanigans happen sometimes, which is heartbreaking and i hate it, but sadly it's true.
