can we please talk about how the most miserable people on this website have such a backwards-ass idea of how to deal with intrusive thoughts. like, "it's only an intrusive thought if you perform exactly how disgusted you are by it!!" this is The opposite of what they tell you to do like actually. if you spend all your time wringing your hands over every single bad thought you have that only reinforces it!!!! you need to let it go. it's a thought it cannot hurt you and it isn't what makes you. and you don't need to performatively retch over how despicable the thought may be to an imagined jury. You should be starting a recipe book. I don't give a shit if you're only 20-years-old. The modern web is rotting away bit by bit before our very eyes. You have no idea when that indie mom blog is going down or when Pinterest will remove that recipe. Copy it down in a notebook, physically or digitally. Save it somewhere only you can remove it. YEAH.#it's so frustrating. and part of me knows that it's just jokes and that it's not that deep... but I feel like it kind of is sometimes?#there's a lot of gender essentialism wrapped up in it pretty often- especially from the f/f side of things.#there's this really pervasive idea there that a bisexual woman choosing to be with a man is debasing herself #(in fandom/character spaces AND real life ones)#and that the man will inherently treat her worse than a woman would #(or even that bisexuality is just compulsive heterosexuality)#and that f/f is more pure. which feels like rebranded 'women are pure and dainty and men are bad predators' terf shit.#and it's so hard because every time I get annoyed at fandom biphobia I feel like I'm pulling a 'won't anyone think about the straights'#but like. idk! if you think that f/m relationships are genuinely inherently worse solely because of the genders involved #then maybe you SHOULD examine that a bit 😭#there's possibly some weird ideas about gender in there.
