Fergus had only put the hedgehog down for a moment, wanting him to keep him company while he worked and the next minute he looked Sonic was gone. Honestly, he had no idea the little guy could move that fast. As the bell chimed above the door he winced slightly, not good. “Okay, so…I’m not saying I lost him, but for the moment I just don’t know where he is,” he held his hands out innocently in front of him. He ran a hand through his hair as he took a quick look around again. “You didn’t happen to see a small little spiky guy did you, about this big?” he asked holding hands out to the size of a hedgehog. “If not, you might want to watch your step. Sonic is proving to be excellent at hide and seek.” 

Aislinn had come into the shop to get her wand checked. It had taken a banging during one of her practice duels and she needed it fixed immediately. What she had not expected was to run into Fergus who immediately began to speak. Was he ever quiet? “Sorry? Who- what is Sonic? And why would I have seen him?”

“Good taste,” Violet nodded as she looked over her shoulder at them. “Really? I always liked the flirting part, it was a bit of harmless fun for me. Plus getting showered with compliments is never a bad thing.”

“They’re never true. Or even if they are, they’re said only to seduce you so they hardly count. A waste of breath, in my opinion. If the goal is to have sex, then just have sex.” Aislinn would much rather be complimented out of the blue, and even then, people would argue she wasn’t particularly ‘good’ at taking them. She accepted them easily, but perhaps too easily, in a way that had people thinking she was vain. Which wasn’t the case of course. “Don’t you ever get frustrated? You want to have sex but instead you’re both just standing there talking. It seems ridiculous to me.”

“Sure, that sounds like it would be fun,” Laurel nodded at her, with some truth to her words.  She did agree that training against the dummies was boring, and she was interested in the different strategies that her coworker would use. There was always a chance for learning something and Laurel wasn’t about to pass that up. “Both? Really?” she asked, keeping her breathing steady despite wondering if the statement came from general curiosity or from something that Aislinn had noticed that Laurel hadn’t been careful enough about, “Why is that?”

“Good. We’ll plan something tomorrow then.” There weren’t many things Aislinn got particularly excited about. But anything to do with duelling - especially finding a new duelling partner - would always put her in a better mood. At least until they were duelling, then she would be someone completely different until it was over. When Laurel seemed surprised, or perhaps confused, the brunette shrugged. “Why am I interested? Because you’re great at what you do. You always get the job done. You don’t take shit from anyone. I’m just interested in you. Is that wrong?”

3. Your character walking in on mine having a tea party with stuffed animals.

It wasn’t very often that Laurel ended up having a strong lead, and even rarer that she actually knew anything about them.  And yet here she was, following someone who had a young child, which only gave her mixed emotions.  It hurt, knowing that at the end of the trail that a child was going to lose her parent, and yet considering that her mother was a murderer, it was very possible that the woman wouldn’t be the best role model for her daughter in the long run. 

She had a feeling that there was something hidden in the little girl’s room, it was too put together. Too clean. Too staged for it to have had a child in it recently. And so as she sat down, Laurel tried to put herself into the mindset of the person that she was following.  The small table in the middle of the room served as an excellent vantage point, allowing for her to look around the room from a completely different perspective. She could guess that it was the spot that the mother had played with her daughter, the toy tea set still placed set on the table, the toys still sitting in their chairs as if there was nothing wrong. Laurel registered Aislinn’s footsteps down the hall, they were the same ones that she had heard plenty of times at the auror office and only half-paid attention to them stopping in the doorway as she tried to process all of the information that the room had to offer. 

“As much as I’m sure that it looks like I’ve lost my mind, I’ve been trying to put myself in the mindset of our killer,” Laurel stated, before her coworker could ask anything, “There’s something off about this room and I’m trying to figure out exactly what.”
