Gears in Maya

First Project of the Quarter for my VSFX160 class. Objective was to create a 30 second rendering of moving gears in Maya2016. All gears were modeled individually and coded using Mel expressions.

Elapsed time: 5 hours

#coding with expressions kinda felt like i was in algebra class again #the coding was super easy #modeling and shading the gears was the hard part #especially I was new to Maya2016 #we also got to use the render farm at SCAD #that way it only took 7 minutes to render out 740 frames of many computers rather than 12.5 hours on just one #the render farm at Montgomery Hall is now my new best friend #I have a feeling we're going to spend a lot of time together this quarter

The Couch Troll

A short film created for my VSFX130 class. Objective was to film a Cause and Effect story while paying attention to exposure, lighting, frame rate, ISO, focal lenght, and the physical position of the camera.

Materials Used: Canon Mark III digital camera, After Effects (editing program)

Actors: Antonio Gil-Herera (couch troll) and Frank Curtin (video game guy)

Music: Mii Plaza, Dies Irae by Yuri Temirkanov

Film time: 3.5 hours

Post-Production time: 12.5 hours
