The thing about platitudes is that they actually are so important to integrate into your world view or self view but they sound so trite when you're at the point where you really need to hear them. "You're not alone"? Beautiful, life affirming, brings tears to my eyes. "Believe in yourself, never give up"? SO fucking important, that's literally your only chance to improve your life. Unfortunately you can't say these kinds of things without feeling like a jackass because of how common they are that they just sound unthoughtful, and I remember what it's like to be in a really bad place mentally and things like that all sound so stupid lol

I want there to be evidence of something we don't fully understand and can't explain. but then 99% of the "proof" out there for that stuff is like. the most obvious scam you've ever seen in your life.
