Softyβs Guide to Facial Oils
Different oils and how to use them
Common Oils
Argan Oil β good for everyone; high in Vit E, great for helping heal scars, eczema, and dry scalp. Oleic acid helps regulate sebum production, and linoleic acid promotes healthy skin turnover, which can be good for acne control.
Avocado Oil β intense hydration; lots of fats and fatty acids; may be too hydrating for certain skin types
Castor Oil β promotes hair growth
Chamomile Oil β Sensitive skin; soothes redness and irritation
Coconut Oil β very moisturizing; however itβs comedogenic so it works well for the body, but may not be good for the face (but if it works for you, go for it!)
Jojoba Oil β all skin types; mimics natural sebum so itβs a good balancer for all sin types
Rosehip Oil β skin discolouration & scarring; also good for helping combat environmental stressors like dry air and wind; improve skin elasticity, boost skin cell regeneration,
Tea Tree Oil β acne (but NEEDS to be diluted if you have 100% tea tree oil)
Grapeseed Oil β oily skin & acne; help regulate oil production while keeping skin moisturized; also has anti-aging & skin-brightening Vit C
Maracuja Oil β anti-inflammatory; brightening (has lots of Vit C); sun damage, discoloration, spots, and fine lines; also said to help with anxiety, insomnia and stress?
Marula Oil β irritated skin; v. soothing & hydrating; high in oleic acid; high in anti-oxidants;
Sweet Almond Oil β great for sensitive & dry skin
Less Common
Dilo Oil (found by Kate Sommerville); good for firming
Black Currant Oil β skin that needs repair; anti-inflammatory; even good for eczema
Camellia Oil β Lightweight hydration; absorbs quickly; great for sensitive skin
Pomegranate Oil Ββ anti-inflammatory; reduces redness; brightens skin; packed with Vit A, D, E, & K; goof for combination skin
Hemp Seed β light moisture; good for dry, aging skin
Pumpkin Seed Oil β blemish prone skin
Evening Primrose Oil β soothing & anti-inflammatory; great for sensitive skin
Skin Care DonβtsΒ π
Please donβt put lemon (or any citrus fruit) juice on your face! πLemon juice increases photosensitivity and can lead to chemical burns. There are safer alternatives, such as regulated AHAs for exfoliation or vitamin c serums for brightening.
BAKING SODA IS BAD FOR THE SKIN. Iβm sorry, but itβs a fact. Your skin is acidic at a pH level of about 4.5. Baking soda, or sodium bicarbonate, is very alkaline at a pH of 9. Throwing off your skin pH like that is not good for you. Toothpaste has the same problem; plus toothpaste has a bunch of skin irritants in itβs formula.
Donβt use nose pore strips.Β Theyβre a huge gimmick. Those black dots on your nose are sebaceous filaments, not blackheads. Look it up. Theyβre natural and can be minimized through proper cleansing and BHAs. Pore strips can make your pores LARGER and also cause broken capillaries. Iβd personally like to tell Biore to fuck off with their shame-based marketing.
Avoid hot showers/baths.Β πΒ I know, it feels great! Unfortunately, the hot water strips your skin of its natural oils, leaving your skin dry and unhealthy. Also, if you feel lightheaded after a hot shower/bath, that means youβre dropping your blood pressure with the heat. Again, not good for you.
If a product burns your skin, DONβT USE IT. The burning does not mean itβs βworkingβ. You can have a tingling effect from exfoliating products, but they should never burn.
Donβt over-exfoliate. I want to cry when people say they use scrubs every day! You should exfoliate physically 1-3x a week, depending on your skin. You can chemically exfoliate more frequently, but you still need to be careful. Raw, red, and flaky skin is not cute.Β π‘
Donβt use a bunch of new products at once. Patch test; itβs always worth it. It sucks when you wake up in the morning with a bunch of zits and irritation and you donβt know which one of the 5 new products you tried was the culprit.
STOP TANNING!Β βοΈοΈ Sun exposure is THE worst thing for your skin. Sun exposure accelerates aging and puts you at risk for skin cancer. Avoid excessive sunlight and wear sunscreen every day.Β
Be wary of essential oils. Sensitive skin can be easily irritated by these seemingly natural ingredients. Natural is not always full-proof.
Donβt be aggressive towards your acne! BHAs and tea tree oil are great PREVENTATIVE ingredients. Once you have active acne, time (and AHAs) are the only thing that will make it go away. You canβt scrub it off, sorry.
Donβt pay a premium on anti-aging skin care.π°Β Anti-aging is all in prevention. Stay hydrated, limit stress, donβt drink (to excess) or smoke, and use sunscreen. No cream will undo years of damage, even if it costs hundreds of dollars.
facemask & sheetmask tips
Cleanse before any type of mask.
Always moisturize after facemasks or sheetmasks to better lock in the benefits.
If you feel sticky after sheetmasks, applying moisturizer afterwards will take care of that. Donβt wash anything off.
If you use toner, tone before a facemask or sheetmask.
You donβt really need essence when putting on a sheetmask because a sheetmask is basically essence but if you still want to, it goes before your sheetmask (or facemask )
Serum goes after sheetmasks / facemasks since its a thicker and stronger treatment or you can skip essence and serum all together on a mask day.
Basic Skincare Tips
-Donβt use a product with mint in it, mint is irritable to the skin (esp. to acne prone).
-Try to avoid products with alcohol in them; they can dry out your skin!
-NEVER apply essential oils on your skin if they are not significantly diluted. It will burn and damage your skin!
-Wear sunscreen EVERYDAY and re-apply every 2 hours
-Avoid picking your skin/touching your skin as much as possible!
-Every skin type needs to moisturize!!! Yes, even oily skin! (remember to also moisturize your neck + body)
-Rosehip oil will help heal your acne scars (apply before you go to sleep).
-Drink lots of water!
-Work towards consuming less sugary foods + dairy products (if you can), and instead eat/drink more antioxidants like green tea, dark chocolate, berries, pecans, etc.
-Exfoliate once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells.
-You do not need to have a 10 step routine, or a million products to have healthier skin. Applying too many on acne prone skin will just cause more inflammation.
-You do not need to use a toner. For some people toners are very beneficial, for others it dries out their skin. Find out what is best for you!
-Donβt put sugar on your skin; it is too harsh of an exfoliant!
Korean Skincare Explained Simply
As you know not all of these steps belong just to the Korean skincare routine so itβs useful to know this anyway. Btw Iβm just explaining the main steps.
Double cleansing- itβs the idea that washing your face with one type of cleanser doesnβt clean your skin good enough so you cleanse with an oil-based cleanser followed by a water-based cleanser.
Exfoliating - about twice a week after cleansing to get rid of dead skin so your skincare products work better.
Toner - gets your skin balanced after cleansing and prepares your skin to absorb the rest of your skincare products.
Essence - a lightweight/watery treatment after toner that gives your skin another layer of hydration and can be specific to a skin issue you might have. Basically,a lightweight version of serum while also preparing your skin for serum.
Serum - applied after essence and similar to an essence but usually thicker and stronger. Serumβs are effective because they are concentrated treatments for any skin concern and you can choose one specific to your needs.
Ampoule - has a higher level of active ingredients,itβs basically a stronger serum. You can say that ampoules/serumβs are the same thing though except that you can mix ampoules with your essence, serum, or moisturizer to give your skin a big boost.
Moisturizer - last step in your skincare routine to lock it all in before sunscreen.
Skincare tips β¨π§
1. Always keep a bottle of water bottle nearby. Hydration is π, your skin will thank you!
Β 2. DONβT POP YOUR PIMPLES. EVER.Β
3. Honey + green tea=a mask that will reduce dark spots and acneΒ
4. Exfoliate 1-3 times a week, get rid of that dead skin/sebum build up π·Β
5. Coconut is great for your skin + removing makeup! (Use it wisely tho, could clog up your pores)Β
6. You can never go wrong with face masks!!! Treat yourself to a nice face mask every now and thenΒ
7. Cut toxic people out of your life and remember to moisturize dailyΒ
8. DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACEπ π½Β
9. In my opinion lush has the best skincare products, all organic and theyβre cruelty freeπΆΒ
10. Change your pillow cases regularly if you donβt alreadyΒ
11. Sunscreen is your best friend, always apply before leaving the house to protect your self from harmful sun rays/premature agingπΒ
12. I know y'all have things to do but get at least 7 hours of sleep to rejuvenate your skin!Β
13. Pat your face dry instead of rubbing when using a towel.Β
14. Listen to music and chill and try to keep the stress minimal, this will do wonder for your skinΒ
15. Rose water is bomb for your skin and the scent is a bonus πΉΒ
16. Your skin is an organ so it will reflect the state of your insides, eat beneficial foods and drink plentyπ§π¦ππππ

SMTM5Β βWhere Are They Now?β
BeWhy
Mr.Byung Yoon has been up to quite a bit since we saw him on SMTM5. For one, he won season five which was probably one of the most talented and successful casts in SMTM to date (even if they couldnβt remember their lyrics despite all that). After SMTM, Bewhy was traveling, living life, and making music. Heβs appeared on quite a few different variety shows (in person, and just by being mentioned) in the time between SMTM5 and now as well. In late 2017, he released his album The Blind Star.Β BeWhy also graced North America with his presence on The Blind Star Tour.
Young B
Excuse the fact that this is a photo of him from High School Rapper (a.k.a over a year after SMTM5) but he looks so soft in this pic. Also, itβs hard to find pics of him from SMTM5 because he kinda got buried under everyone else from that season and babely got screen time, Also, he looks PRETTY tragic with that hair cut and dye. Anyway, that not my point, I was wanted to explain why Iβm using an HSR pic and now Iβve explained it to death soβ¦.moving on. As you all know, Young B actually won the first season of High School Rapper. He pretty muh blew up after his songΒ βIn The Morningβ was featured in his audition on the 1st or 2nd episode. Heβs had LOADS of controversy throughout that show. Heβs still going strong though and even appeared on SMTM6. He did pretty well but was ultimately eliminated. After the show, he was signed to Swings Indigo Music record label.
Junoflo
On season 5 we met one of the most universally loved competitors, Junoflo. Junoflo, despite only making it to round 3 was one of the most popular people from the season and arguably from the series. Junoβs popularity just EXPLODED. He was soon signed to Tiger JKβs label Feel Ghood Music. He released a single album which featured new single,Β βDeja Vuβ and a new version ofΒ βInfinite Stylesβ. Then he came on to SMTM6 and had a nice amount of success with his songΒ βTwistedβ. Finally, at the beginning of 2018, he released another EPΒ βOnly Humanβ. Junoflo had been doing great and things are only gonna get better for him. You know Iβm always rooting for a Cali native! Especially on who pulls up and represents us SOOO well like he did!
Flowsik
Flowsik has been making music since SMTM5. Right after the season he actually dropped a song with Luizy from Uniq, a fellow competitor from SMTM5. Since then heβs made song with lots of other artists, most recently Jessi. He also, has a dog name Jack that he keep us updated about a lot on Instagram lol. Shout out to Jack!
Simon D
Yes, I used a pic of him from theΒ βI look like Iβm in a boy bandβ days. Anyway, he was a judge on SMTM5. Arguably the funniest and most interesting one but that could just be cause he partner Gray was a damn ghost the whole season. Where has he been since SMTM5?β¦.EXACTLY!!!! WHERE.ARE.YOU??!?!? Heβs been spotted here and there since the season. He was on AOMGβs tours but after that not much. He recently was on a song with a few of his AOMG members. IDK if that means heβs coming back or if heβs going back into hiding for a few more years.
For right now, Iβm gonna end this. I donβt know if there will be a part 2 because everyone on the show is so popular so Iβm sure no one has lost track of them or wants an update for the most part. But if you guys have some you want covered then I can make a part 3! Also, if they arenβt on this list and they were on another season? Then they were probably put into that seasonβs post.
I have mentioned suicide once today, unconciously. Hope it doesn't turn into a serious thought.

The Shinsengumi was a special police force organized by the BakufuΒ during Japanβs Bakumatsu periodΒ in 1864. It was active until 1869.Β It was founded to protect the Shogunate representatives in Kyoto at a time when a controversial imperial edict to exclude foreign trade from Japan had been made and the Choshu clan had been forced from the imperial court. The men were drawn from the sword schools of Edo.Β Although the Shinsengumi are lauded as brave and determined heroes in popular culture, they have been described by historians as a βruthless murdering death squad.
Gintama has such a weird fandom because most of the people know the anime and have watched the anime and even like it but itβs like way too embarrassing to publicily admit it so like you never talk about it to your friends or beloved ones. its the Boku No Pico of the Shonen Jump.
