So this story book I'm reading, has a main character who is a transmigrator.
That gives him intel, about the world they are in, that the other characters don't have.
So this fella just drops facts about crucial points, basically gaining ancient powers relatively easily, coz he has a cheat sheet. And helping others along the way coz he already knows stuff.
And. No one questions him why or how does he know all this... just accepts it as is.
Not to mention the pov shift between characters that feel a bit jarring.
The way things are just stated, as it is, without the literary description that other well written stories have. Gives of the feeling that this is a game play. Rather than a story. The main character, is a player, who just goes step by step completing quests, and the other characters just miraculously fall in line.
And since he already knows a lot. Any challenges he is to face, is dealt with smoothly, making the achievement feel less impactful. And as it was attained through a cheating way. The achievement feels disingenuous.
I suppose, as a person who has had to always work so hard for every litte achievement. Reading about this lout is annoying me. I cannot relate to his character at all. Even though his goal in life is to gain all this powers so that he can have an early retirement relaxed life - which I'm all for. But he's going about it in such a breeze of a manner. Like.... what.
I'm still reading it just to know how this ends. It's book 1 though. In a series. And I don't know if I'll stick around for it all.
Plus his dynamic with friends/ other character, like... there's no sincere connection, since he doesn't seem intent on making any connections. Stuff just happens to him and he just goes along with it.
He also happens so have a whole lot of useful tools that are critical in helping them achieve their goals. Yet there is just a brief explanation of where n how he got it, by paying a shit tonne of money. Coz yeah, he's rich. Solves lots of things that one.
My friends like it, so I thought I'd give it a try. But now.... I wonder why they like it. 😅
