How does your state fare?
So much for "Alabama the Beautiful". I guess they've never seen our beaches, or mountains, our lakes? Only our cities like Montgomery & B'ham...
can’t stop with the lolling on this one
Okay, so I lied...this is the last reblog...still cracks me up!
and here we go....
Spring 2012
Auburn University
Auburn, Alabama
Pea River from Williams Boat Landing
Kinston, Alabama
*the Pea River gets its name from its pea green color. Indeed, the Muscogee name for the Pea River is Talakhatchee, which means "Pea Green Stream".
Spring Break 2012
Gulf Shores, Alabama
*How to 'Spring Break' in Gulf Shores link
Smallest (populated) town in the State
Orrville, Alabama
*This darkly clad figure looms over the graves at Old Cahawba Archaeological Site. Located in Orrville, Alabama, the cemetery dates back to 1851 and is located in "Alabama's Most Famous Ghost Town". Looks like a great place to film an old movie...maybe a scary one???? more
Buck Creek Cotton Mill
Alabaster, Alabama
*the cotton mill opened in 1896. The operating facility and the factory site were sold in 1968, and the mill closed its doors in May 1979. The Alabaster Senior Center was built in 2010 where portions of the cotton mill foundation once stood. Supposedly there were blood spots on the floors in some rooms and various cold spots. Also strange noises have been heard. There has also been mention of a 'phantom' in the nearby woods, who follows home hikers (although no harm ever comes to them). Anyone wanna go check it out???
going inside today...
Dinosaur Exhibit at the McWayne Science Center
Birmingham, Alabama
*did you know that Alabama is the best place east of the Mississippi River to find the remains of dinosaurs? (I did NOT!!!) The Alabama Dinosaurs exhibit which can be found in McWane Science Center displays actual dinosaur fossils discovered around the state. Alabama Dinosaurs features rare finds from the Alabama tyrannosaur to the dangerous dromaeosaurs or “raptors.”
Miss Sayre
Montgomery, Alabama
*The Legend of Zelda:
This is Zelda. She was the beauty of her time. Zelda—that Zelda, future bride of F. Scott Fitzgerald… Zelda, the bob-haired beauty by which all flappers are judged (and found wanting). Zelda Road. Zelda Cigars. That Zelda.
A Montgomery Belle, and therefore certainly meeting the requirements to this blog.
