…Turns away from him for a minute to pull himself together, and then offers Alan a bag of fresh, if somewhat greasy, churros.
“Th-thank you, and please come again…” Maybe the cook would hug him.
He grabs the bag. Honestly, greasy churros are the best churros.
“Thank you... I will.”
Perhaps in the past he’d have been more curt and irritated, but he’s softened quite a bit.

If they’d actually known each other better, Alan might have been slightly offended. Right now, he was more confused than anything.
