This is important. Do not feel bad when you are doing good things for yourself. You might read this and think, of course. Not me, I don’t. And if that’s true, great! For the rest of us, It’s really easy to forget the sound of your inside voice shaming you. Because, “that’s normal”, “everyone thinks those things”. Not you, anymore. When you’re doing something for you, it’s important that it makes you happy, that you enjoy it! The added stress on your mind and body that comes from shame DEFEATS THE PURPOSE of doing something to make you FEEL GOOD. Ex: you’re trying to eat better. When you go for the healthy meal, think about how delicious it is (to your cells at least), and how proud you are of making that choice and taking action to be healthier. DO NOT think about all the times you ate pizza instead, or why haven’t you started eating better sooner, or how much this is “gonna suck”, or my body’s already too ___ , or other hating on your body. Ex: a spa day. ENJOY it 🥰 soak it up. You deserve it. DO NOT think, well other people deserve it too, but they can’t afford it, so I shouldn’t. Or, I have so much work to do, why am I here “relaxing”. Either go home and do what you’re troubling about, or release any guilt you might have about being at a spa: ENJOY HER 🧖♀️ Ex: you’re getting yourself a sweet treat, let’s say ice cream. DO just fuking enjoy the ice cream. Love every bit of it! You’re having it because it makes you feel good in SOME way, and that feeling good holds value! DO NOT think, this is so bad for me, I’m f*cking up my diet, I’m not going to the beach after this, I can never eat right, why am I like this. NO! STOP RIGHT THERE. We usually have a weak spot (ahem, what area of life do you struggle with, I bet it’s lurking there). There’s joy and happiness in everything, and unless you’ve built a case against it, that joy and happiness comes naturally. Start recognizing when you’re building a case against it, and ease out of that. Ps DO NOT HAVE GUILT OVER NOTICING THOSE BAD THOUGHT HABITS. Be excited that you’ve found a way to be happier and be easy on yourself when you’re trying to change a habit.
