“He’s pretty cute, don’t you think??”
“He just kind of wandered over here...”
SKY FERREIRA BY TODD COLE - L'OFFICIEL NETHERLANDS 2013
crybabywallace:
“We’re doing something wrong just by being here,” Zoe shot back, hand dipping down underneath the collar of her jacket to tug up a black bandana, the fabric becoming a half-mask that covered the lower half of her face. “They see us, they catch us, we don’t walk. There’s no bargaining with them about whether we look like we’re doing something wrong.”
She could feel the other woman’s hand reaching for her, fingers grazing the sleeve of her jacket. “You good at climbing fences? I got a car, but I’m bookin’ it, ‘n you’re gonna have to trust me if you wanna come along.” Trust me was implicit as run.
If they started running, they’d be reaching the point of no return... Alaska wasn’t good at making that kind of jump. She’d rather be careful, even when she wasn’t doing the smartest things in the world. They’d fire without question, and Aly liked having that small glimmer of hope that she’d be able to talk them out of it. But, the only thing more suspicious than two girls running, was one girl running and another being trapped like a deer in the head lights. So, Aly followed after her.
Alaska hated running; not the physical act, but the idea of fleaing something.... it was something she was doing more and more of as time went on. “I-I guess?? She stammered. She was going to have to get good at it, then. “I coming,” and Aly was off. She could see what the redhead meant, now, as the pair started weaving
yarakerrin:
“Are you sure about that? Because…. it looks pretty damn scary,”
“Depends what your fears are.”
“People. I think mostly uncertainty.... fear of the unknown. So people, who I don’t know.... a lot of them,”
corbininman:
“It’s a lot of death to be around. A lot of worry for the people close to you.”
“But is it really worth it to go back there...?” Alaska asked honestly, loosely gesturing towards the city.
deesharpe:
“That’s a terrible story.”
“If I don’t walk in on someone getting nasty – either with themselves or with somebody else – then it’s an off day.”
“Could definitely be worse,” she shrugged. “Damn.... pretty normal thing to do around here...?”
sophxc:
“Parties, dates, trips to the city, coffee with friends… I’d wear them to anything. There is such a thing as casual designer wear, you know.”
“That’s true I guess, I think I’d probably just find it hard to rationalize... I don’t like going into the city much. But you don’t mind it?”
zane-sinclair:
“The effort was there, Blondie, but.. not quite.”
“It’s enough to break the ice - hey, I’m Zane.”
“I tried, I really did,”
“Aly, actually, but I suppose ‘Blondie’ works too. Ahh.... now I get it. Smooth. Nice to meet you, Zane,”
rosaliestorm:
“Oh my GOSH, and just… cheese plus pizza plus the crust? Yup. You can’t survive going without.” She joked as well, laughing at the thought. It was a joke - first world problems at its finest, something Rosalie would have gladly done without if she could have changed things in her life. But, ultimately, she couldn’t and this was just what life was. “Ugh, maybe you can come as my ‘date’ if they have one anytime soon. Or just like whatever, maybe I can get you an invite. It’d be nice to not be by myself for once.”
“CPR. Sometimes, your adrenaline just.. you know, kicks in and ribs break.” She shrugged. It wasn’t something she’d ever be comfortable with, but she was relatively immune when it happened. At least, in the moment. She tried to wait to have feelings until after. “Uh..” She paused, deciding lying just wasn’t the answer for this, “My Dad.. well, he didn’t want me to be a doctor. He kind of decided for me once I said I wanted to go into medicine, but I took it in stride, and I love being a nurse. I just.. I do different work. I get to be there for every moment. I’ve delivered babies, I’ve held people’s hands as they’ve died, I’ve brought people back from the dead, and I’ve just been there for the patients who are struggling with everything. I get to be more of a trusted friend than a medical professional, and besides, I get to give the good drugs. People usually like me.” She answered, the sincerity clear in her eyes. It was the one topic she could ramble on about happily, even if it hadn’t been the exact path she would have chosen, had her father not been around. “Perfect. I’ll meet you upstairs, then, I’ll start pulling out the ingredients. Just yell if you get lost.” She teased, as she turned on her heel to begin putting the food together.
Alaska couldn’t do anything but laugh at this point. She didn’t know the other girl all that well, and she definitely didn’t like having to lie to -or rather, mislead- her, but Alaska was enjoying this bit of familiarity. Compared to her current life, all of these things were so tedious, unimportant, irrelevant... but for a split second, she could pretend they weren’t, and the other girl understood the ‘finer things in life’. “That would be really nice, thank you,” she replied genuinely, though she was skeptical as to if or how she would follow through. “Are your parents really strict about dating, too?”
Her eyes went wide at the sheer thought of the scene Rosalie depicted. “That’s.... wow,” because really, what more could be said? It was crazy, in a remarkable way. “So.... he chose for you.... but you’re also kind of happy about it?” she asked aloud, though it was really more of her thought process. “Like, are you happy even though he chose?” her eyebrows furrowed, trying to understand what the girl was saying. Alaska’s lips turned upwards towards the end, “People must definitely like you, then,” she chuckled quietly. Aly nodded, turning back to the machine in front of her. She couldn’t help but smile to herself, watching her, quite blatantly, disgusting and dirty clothes fall into the pile in the washing machine, knowing that soon enough they would be clean again. It was a simple thing, one she’d taken for granted for so long. Closing the door and setting it up, Aly headed back upstairs from memory. “I found some fabric softener too, if that’s okay,” Alaska announced her presence as she walked back in to Rosalie’s place.
zane-sinclair:
“So, heres a good one for you. How much does a polar bear weigh?”
“......About half as much as two polar bears...?”
sophxc:
“A hundred gold? I’d by a bunch of designer clothes.”
“You?”
“What would you wear them to?” Alaska asked curiously, an honest question.
“Honestly, the very first thing would be a pizza.... personal favourite. After that, I don’t know.... maybe the little things, like new shampoo, probably some clothes too, yeah...”
“HEY.
agentfalke:
alaska-onfire:
What do you think you’re doing? I’m pretty sure that’s mine, thanks,”
“I’m confiscating it.” Ulrich flashed his badge before slipping both that, and the object in question into his inner pocket.
“ID, please.”
“It’s a water bottle. Check it-- nothing but water in there,” Alaska replied, rather persistently.
“I don’t have any on me, I was just going on a quick walk to get some fresh air,”
rosaliestorm:
“Seriously. I don’t know how people live without it.” Though, Rosalie probably could live without pizza, the melodramatics were fun to play out from time to time. She wouldn’t be caught dead being heard saying any of this in front of her father, of course. “Sounds perfect, then. Seriously - it’s like a staple of living here, you just have to own everything. So, if you like something, it’s yours. And, I can alter most things, if they don’t fit.” She thought of the beautiful dresses and outfits that lined the back of her closet, save for special occasions and events, and she nodded, “Yeah. My Dad’s huge on appearances, so we go to pretty much everything.” Even when she didn’t want to. “But, most of the time, they’re fun. Have you ever been?”
“They take all the credit. No one really cares that it was me sitting on top of someone, breaking their ribs, and bringing them back to life while the doctor just told me what medications they wanted me to administer. Not that I even need them to tell me, at this point.” It was an honest answer, but truthfully, Rosalie didn’t usually mind being in the shadows. She was proud of what she did. “But, honestly, it’s whatever, you know? I know every time someone is brought back to life from my hands that I did something right, and that’s reward enough.” Rosalie had stepped back to give the blonde some space, and she was surprised that she knew how to use the machines so well. But, what was she going to say? How do you know how to use a washing machine so well? It just sounded silly, so she stored it away. “Burning with water is always best. Um, so while that’s going, clothes or food first?”
“I remember when I was younger, we tried to go a month without eating pizza.... and then they came out with cheese crust and that became really popular, and it was too hard not to...” Alaska explained, her story irrelevant in the grand scheme of things but funny (to her) none the less. The blonde shook her head quickly, internally and externally resisting any association with the government, even if it was in the past. “No, I never got to go to them. But I did see a lot of pictures and hear a lot about them,” she lied.
“Breaking ribs??” Alaska furrowed her eyebrows, being unable to even picture that. “Why not be a doctor, then?” she asked, before quickly rephrasing, “Not that being a nurse isn’t good or anything, but... you seem to know what you’re doing pretty well,” at the very least Rosalie had a passion for it, or at least as far as Alaska could tell. “I mean, if you save someone then you save someone, regardless of who you are or how you do it,” she agreed, the depth of her words not resonating with her personally until afterwards. “I can throw the first load in, and then we can get started with that mac and cheese?” Alaska replied, feeling her stomach start to growl as she spoke.
tianasong:
One by one to three by three, the fries disappeared into Tiana’s mouth, the girl diligently chewing as fast as she could. She was a master at food eating on a time crunch and if they held food eating contests for money, she could easily best any one in the district– she was certain of it. The fries were finished, Tiana hunting for any last vestiges of salt on the plate and, when she didn’t find any, her gaze landed on Alaska, her palm coming out, fingers waggling for the promised silver.
“I have no gag reflex.”
Alaska stared at the girl in awe as she watched her food vanish, and while her explanation was supposed to assist in Alaska’s understanding, it only added a layer of confusion. “What??!!” she took a moment in attempts to process it. “How?!”
harleebecks:
Harlee raised her eyebrows. “I don’t think Arin would appreciate being compared to this guy. Or told he looks a little like a dog. Wonder what he’d say if I told him.”
The pendant kept swinging between them until Harlee closed her fist around it. She brought it closer to her face to examine it. “How much is this worth? I mean, it’s nice, I guess, but I can’t imagine it’s that expensive,” she said. She shook her thin wrist that bore a rose gold diamond tennis bracelet. “Not like this.” Harlee brought her wrist back to her chest to keep the bracelet safe. She didn’t know this girl. For all she knew, this bitch was a thief and the necklace didn’t even belong to her in the first place. “How much d’you think I’d get for it if I traded it to some drug dealer for good coke?”
“I was thinking more in terms of the ‘important’ bit,” the blonde clarified. “but when it comes to Arin, I’m sure he’s been called worse things than a scruffy dog,” from what she knew of the male, he had bigger things to worry about.
“I wouldn’t know, it was a gift,” wasn’t a full lie, anyways. Alaska had to resist the urge to steady Harlee’s hand so she could examine it more closely.... it really was beautiful, and obviously expensive compared to Alaska’s necklace. “Wow..... where’d you get that?” The girl had to refocus herself, “Probably not much.... I hear coke can be pretty expensive so I wouldn’t count on this helping out with that,” she tried, keeping her voice steady.

“Hey, can I come in?”
chaolvaldez:

I have a question for you…” she asked, peering in the door. He had said she could come to him with help on repairs of anything, or just anything in general, plus Chaol was one of the few people she actually trusted here.
“…. it’s about this thing I found the other day. I was wondering if you could help me,”
@chaolvaldez
“Yeah. O‘course. What’s up?”
Aly placed the tablet on the desk in front of her. It was broken so it’s not like she had to be gentle with it, there was a bullet hole through the middle after all, but she still wanted to protect what was left in good shape too. “When I went with Arin to where the Treehouse a while back.... I took this from there,” she paused, not sure how he would react. “Arin doesn’t know I have it, I tried fiddling with it a bit but.... nothing,”
“I thought.... I thought if we knew how they worked, we could like, hack it or something. In future,” she added hesitantly, not sure if she just sounded crazy or what.
