Poverty reflects the challenge that all living things strive for, and that is the struggle to live when in the face of adversity. It is one of many forms of this struggle, and perhaps an overly-neglected one. Those living in poverty usually cannot afford every basic necessity, which in most cases results in everyday life being nigh-impossible.
In the area that I live in, those in poverty are practically invisible to me, though that doesn't mean that they are non-existent. having looked at statistics for my area from just 4 years ago, I noticed that of the amount of people living in poverty, more than 90% of them lived below half of the poverty line, which is absolutely unbelievable.
"If you come to know the people here, you will recognize that you're in the company of one of the wealthiest communities in the nation."
In a town where I'd always heard about how the population was among the most prosperous in among its neighbors, the very idea that people could be this poor in the same area was inconceivable. I suppose it is a testament to the 0% of children who live below the poverty line.
I wish that I could see where those living below the poverty line were. I've no first-hand experience around anyone living there in America, and to find a solution, one must understand that problem. I don't expect to find the solution, but I must still try.
