Sleeping and Travelling

I (we) spend an average 1/3 (8hrs a day) of my life sleeping and with some easy techniques and a few changes in sleep habits these statistics can be reduced by a lot. 

I have always been "lucky" about my sleep. In recent years I have been travelling ...

... 100-130 days a year (and should do more), travel most of the world and sleep 35% of my nights in hotels (sometimes business lounges during long connections). 

Lucky because even though I suffer from some tired legs (and body) and time zone adjustment (aka jet lag https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jet_lag) I always manage to sleep as I keep up my evening and morning rituals.

When I get home and rejoin my family I again maintain and reinforce my routine which consists of: - going to bed at the same time (22:30) no matter what - waking up in the morning at the same time (6:30 autumn/winter - 6:00 -spring/summer) - avoid staying up late to do extra work (I have the whole day for that) - go to bed tired knowing I could not have done more for that day (otherwise remorse will keep me awake) - weekly regular exercise (not a 7/7 type of person but easily 4/7) morning when I travel, lunch time when at home. - eat healthy food and control alcohol intake (even though I like my glass of Prosecco* wine or a pint of local beer)

Frankly some of the tips that I find on the internet like hot baths, scented candle, herbal teas, don’t effect me much. All this being said I am human after all and I like to enjoy life so I do break the rules sometimes and walk over my rituals.
