Albie: is this because you are 'gud' or 'good' and i am being encouraged to aspire to be like you or 'be on your level' and therefore 'get gud'?
“That’s clearly what it is. And everyone needs a little more Albie in their life, that being the case.” He was genuinely taken aback, but in a good way. It wasn’t very often people went out of their way like Albie currently was. And without any ulterior motive; altruistic. “Yeah, man. Of course I’m in. How could I say no to an adventure? And a surprise adventure at that. I feel giddy. Where are we going? And I might need my shoes?—Are you saying it’s a possibility to go barefoot?” he teased with a grin. Andrew threw some shoes on and after checking to make sure he had his phone, wallet, and keys, he stepped outside to follow Albie.
“Don’t get too giddy,” he warned, chuckled and twirling his car keys around his finger, “I don’t want you to be inevitably disappointed when its not as amazing as you were expecting.” He rolled his eyes fondly at Andrew. “Yes, you do definitely need shoes, is that better? You can opt out of the shoes in every day life, that’s your choice, but for this conservative and a-typical adventure, in my car, shoes are needed I’m afraid.” His face lit up, expression impish. “There is no way I’m telling where we are going,” he shook his head resolutely, “but there are two phases to his surprise. The first involves getting food, though we’ve got quite a long drive first.”
“It’s, uh… It’s white rum, I think. I’m not really sure…” Adam shrugged his shoulders and glanced down into his glass. He couldn’t remember what he ordered. That probably was a sign that he should stop drinking now, but he didn’t see it. “You want a drink?” He turned to look at the guy then, offering a crooked smile.
“Oh, well, that’s really nice of you, thank you,” he smiled in reply, perching on the stool next to Adam’s, the man looked a little wobbly and Albie was naturally concerned. Best to keep an eye on him. “A lemonade, if that’s okay?”

“You know, you could definitely just visit without buying anything- I have a feeling way too much of your paycheck goes to flowers. There are perks to befriending me by keeping me company, you know- sometimes, if there’s enough that are cut wrong, there’s some cast-off bouquet.” Emilio grinned, “Anyways, I already run into you at Munchie’s, so we might as well get acquainted aside from plant-based business.”
“You read my mind,” he laughed, recalling the times they had bumped into each other before. “I’m actually on my way there right now for coffee and cake, do you want to come? They have this raspberry cheesecake and it is incredible. When I eat it I think like... I could probably die happy."
Andrew was a bit shocked to say the least, opening his front door to find Albie. But as the other man spoke, Andrew leaned against the door frame, smile on his face and his arms folded. “Nobody is naturally this adorable. What is all this? A drink? What?” He almost wanted to ask him if he was on something, but then remembered Albie was pretty friendly without any help. Andrew straightened his posture, slowly taking this so-called drink from him with a slightly confused expression.
“Maybe I’m scientifically enhanced to make me nicer?” He chuckled, shrugging and staring at the floor a little embarrassed. “No, really, you just deserve something nice, Andrew, you really do, so-uhm... surprise! If you want to come, I have the car outside and you just need yourself and your shoes maybe and then we can go on this adventure.”
Carrie stared at him not entirely sure what to say or to think for that matter. She couldn’t quite hide the fact that she was highly amused, though. “It’s not a very good kidnapping if I give you permission,” she said pointedly. She wasn’t entirely certain why he was here, she had barely known him for a month and they weren’t exactly the closest two people could be. But still, she definitely was surprised. She looked down at the drink, “Is it drugged? Am I going to drop down dead?” She teased, obviously joking. “Where is it you’re kidnapping me to go, then? Then I may or may not give you my permission to do so.”
“It’s not drugged, you’re not going to drop down dead, I’m not a psycho. I’m just trying out this thing where I do nice things for people with no gain for myself, and reach out to people I might not know that well yet.” He stumbled along his little practiced response. “Also it’s a secret where we are going, it’s part of the surprise. I promise it’s fun though.”
“Too bad you aren’t one of the cute ones,” he grinned back, happy with his come back. He looked back at the man’s next words. “What? Because I’m barely 25?”
“No, because you’re a meanie,” he countered, smiling gently and shaking his head. He started the pancakes, mixing appropriate amounts and humming along to a song in his head. “Only I don’t think you are really, you’re just pretending.”
Stevie leaned casually against the door frame while she listened to him, a piece of toast hanging out of her mouth and a pencil stuck in her messy red hair, keeping it pinned into an even-messier bun at the top of her head. She liked the way he talked so much about everything and nothing all at once, probably because she liked knowing she wasn’t the only one who frequently went on tangents like that, sometimes for no good reason. She took the toast from her mouth and smirked. “Albie, do I look like I’m ready for an adventure? –Spoiler alert, the answer is yes. I should just probably put some pants on.” She gestured to her seagull-print linen shorts. “Does this adventure end with you shouting your love for me from a rooftop? ‘Cause I might still be waiting for that to happen.”
He looked momentarily panicked as she hesitated, eyes wide like a caricature. “You scared me there, please never do that again,” he exhaled, cheeks flushing red with delayed embarrassment. He hadn’t thought this plan through beyond wanting to surprise her, not everyone coped well with spontaneous plans, it all could have been a disaster. “It just might do, if that would top the day off for you,” he beamed, “but the first round of the surprise involves you just getting your shoes and some pants and coming with me.”

taeler stared, uncharacteristically quiet as albie explained himself. his face brightened with every moment. “an adventure?” he asked, his excitement and curiosity barely contained. “dude, i’d love to!” things had gotten significantly better in the last month, but taeler often still felt like he was missing on a lot. “aww, aren’t you the sweetest!” taeler teased, mussing albie’s hair vigorously, then took the sprite albie handed him. “where’re we going? what’re we doing?”
albie ducked his head as taeler ruffled his hair, grinning as he realised he’d already achieved his goal of brightening his day a little. “that is one hundred percent top secret and i cannot tell you,” he insisted, miming zipping his lips shut and throwing away the key, “you just need shoes and maybe a coat, i’m driving and you are just going to sit and enjoy yourself for a bit until we get there.”
Emilio grinned at him, shaking his head. “I can’t tell you that! First, I feel like you’re going to have this awful kicked-puppy face so I’ll immediately have to take it back, and second, you happen to come in on some of my slowest days, and I can’t give up that brief reprieve from boring repetition.”
Albie scrunched up his nose, chuckling as Emilio read him so accurately. “Am I that predictable? You know I love coming anyway, whether it’s considered sad or not - someone has to keep you and the plants company. I don’t want you or them getting lonely.”

“It’s like you’re a stranger still but—’ Talon said looking fully confused and fully intrigued in the fact that the man she’d met at a bar maybe a month back was here, at her door. Sure she wasn’t necessarily in the best place at the time, but was she really that transparent? So much so that it appeared to be a potential check up to make sure she hadn’t drowned in a sea of cats? This wasn’t a usual occurrence and in most cases would probably be considered scary. But he remembered her drink, mixed with a twist in a red solo cup. Maybe he was drunk himself. “What was your name again?”
The sad woman at the bar had stayed with him for weeks, playing at the back of his mind. He wanted to help, but he was confused as to how he could manage it. He didn’t know her, surely it wasn’t his place. And yet, he couldn’t get it out of his brain, the urge to reach out. “It’s Albie,” he reminded her, nodding encouragingly as if she’d guessed it herself, “and I fully, hand on heart, scout’s honour, promise hat this is not something weird, I’m not a serial killer, it’s just a random act of kindness.”
Rebecca stood there watching Albie rattle off his plan with a smile, she hadn’t seen him in awhile and had been wondering when he would show up. But it still made her really happy to see him. “Okay let’s go, I’m hormonal and hungry but let’s go. It could be fun.”
“I was hoping you’d say that,” he beamed, bouncing in the doorway like an excited child. “You’ll need a coat and probably some shoes and maybe your cell but that is it.”

“It’s fine.” Hans smiled to show that he really didn’t mind but he didn’t elaborate on what had happened any further. “I can understand in a way. I’m the same when I meet someone I’m interested in. Well, I’m interested in everyone I meet but sometimes I take a special interest in people.”
“I’m interested in everyone,” he beamed, nodding enthusiastically, “people are so exciting, no matter what they do or where they are from. I mean like, how crazy that we are alive and here at the same time - like wow, that in itself is enough to get excited about.”
