well you look so fine and I really wanna make you mine | Riley
To say that Albus Severus Potter had fallen hopelessly and irreversibly in love was asking for a punch to the face. Albus Severus Potter does not do falling in love. Al makes girls fall in love with him. He does not do the falling in love thing. Nu-uh. Not a chance. No way. He’d sooner jump off the astronomy tower wearing nothing but an old bed sheet than admit for even just one millisecond that he might have developed an infatuation with Riley.
Going for a date to the Three Broomsticks had probably not been a good idea. Especially since Madame Rosmerta had oh so graciously insisted that they have a three course meal (complete with candles) completely on the house. Was the whole world out to make Albus Potter fall head over heels (and quite ungraciously, mind you) in love?
Or maybe not love. Riley… intrigued him. She was loyal and funny and witty and probably had numerous tales that he could tease out of her regarding his sister. And she was a mystery. Oh, there was something about her that he hadn’t quite figured out yet. Something that she was keeping close to her chest.
And now that they were walking back through the forest, stomachs full and in rather a good mood, all he wanted to do was sing and dance and hold her hand. Which he was not going to do because Albus Potter did not sing and dance and did not hold girls hands. Instead, he shoved them deep in his pockets to avoid temptation.
“So, now what?”
Riley was in deep shit. Being one of Lily’s best friends and having spent all of her time at Hogwarts around her had led to also being friends with Albus. Except that it hadn’t stopped there. At least not for her. She’d found him cute and charming, no doubt something that many girls had fallen for. His charm was something that he tended to pull out and use to get some unsuspecting female to fall head over heels. Riley knew that, but even still, she’d fallen for it to. She wasn’t completely invested, she couldn’t be, she had a boyfriend, but there were enough feelings there to let her know she shouldn’t be with Scott.
But that wasn’t an option. She couldn’t justleave. He’d probably kill her if she did. Not that Albus could know that. Or anyone, for that matter. She’d never felt so weak and helpless in her life. Some Gryffindor she was. Today had been one of the best days that she’d had in a long, long time. The meal Madam Rosmerta had provided for them had been delicious, and with the candles it had seemed like the perfect and ideal first date. If only that’s what it had been.
She often wondered why Albus was paying her so much attention. There were probably a hundred girls out there that wanted him to talk to them, but here he was, sneaking her out of school to go the the Three Broomsticks. She had almost hoped that he’d kiss her or something, anything, that would give her a hint as to how much he liked her, if he liked her at all.
“You tell me! You’re the one that invited me out here.” She said with a grin, resting her hands in her back pockets.
Al pursed his lips, turning slowly on the spot. "It was my idea for the butterbeer. Your turn to choose."
Honestly, he'd be happy just sitting down and doing nothing. With her. Doing nothing with Riley. Except for Albus Potter didn't sit around and did nothing with females. Albus Potter flirted and charmed and schmoozed his way around the castle. He'd never really been one for serious relationships. There had been Bri, once upon a time. What was it with his sisters room mates? There was time for all of that later when he was supposed to be grown up and working for a living. Serious relationships could wait. Or so he thought.
Why did he have images of long summer walks around the lake, snowball fights in the grounds, finding a deserted classroom and sitting in front of a fireplace toasting marshmallows? Why was he turning into a hopeless sappy romantic? He'd be teased unmercifully if James could see him now.
Al shrugged. "But whatever, we can just... walk, if you want."
