After spending so much time with the Batfam, Dexter has somehow managed to get roped into going on Patrol with them ⸻ though this does seem to mainly be with Nightwing, Red Robin, and Batgirl. Time passes and, after running around in his own black clothes in an attempt to disguise himself, Bruce approaches Dex one day and offers to make him something. It would be completely customizable, rooted towards Dexter and his history. His heritage. After much back and forth they settled on a Korean Style Hanbok, modernized to fit a little bit more into what is currently trendy, not only in Korea but around the world. It’s made of a breathable but bordering on bulletproof material, a type of kevlar designed by Bruce himself that will keep Dexter as safe as possible when he’s either out on patrol or ( eventually, once he’s quietly inducted ) doing work as a member of the Justice League. But of course, the outfit isn’t enough ⸻ he needs a codename as well. All it takes is a heart to heart conversation with Dick ( @nihtwing ) for Dexter to settle on using his middle name, his Korean name Doyoung, to go by. They tack on a nickname given to him as well, a descriptor of his eyes under the night of the night, how they’re almost blinding. It’s how he starts going by Doyoung : The Blinding Lights Alchemist while on the scene. The name sticks with ease, and it warms Dexter’s heart that he now has something so connected to his history but still private enough to keep him safe. As the costume is made Dexter’s own alchemy gets infused into it as well, gold embellishments becoming prominent aesthetic choices on both top layers. The images are pulled from his own memory and, if someone were to look close enough, they would see broken down transmutation circles for gold hidden within the patterns on the front and the back, with the ouroboros dragon seen on his arms. The same gold is also in the jewelry that he wears, often times of his own making or gifted, resized to fit properly. Though he is typically a long to mid range style fighter, preferring to help from the backlines, when he is forced into hand to hand combat he will ‘melt’ the gold down to cover his fingers and hands, adding an extra layer of protection that has those punches hitting quite a bit harder. His own take on brass knuckles, if you will. Dexter’s scar is also incredibly distinctive, along with the bright gray of his eyes. The steel color is often described as being similar to the milky way or the stars, incredibly bright and jarring in the pitch black of night, but lacking an emotion that makes him seem almost inhuman. The blonde hair he often sports when in this particular costume is also a stark difference from his typical midnight black. He can change the color, and the length, at will with his alchemy, and prefers to do such a thing to help keep his identity as much of a secret as possible. While it is most often seen in a top knot with more gold accents, also of traditional Korean style, he’ll occasionally have it down as well ⸻ though this is only really done upon request. He finds it easier to work with his hair off of his neck and out of his face. Dexter considers his disguise solid enough where, if he’s caught with other members of the Justice League in front of the camera, it’ll be enough where we can still go about his daily life comfortably.
