It had been a long while since Alecto had been anywhere but her house and work. Her feelings were everywhere and seeing Peter at the fundraiser had only served to make them worse. She didnât know what to think anymore. All she knew was that attending (even to find Molly) had been a bad idea. Alcohol and Alecto had never truly mixed and she had only gotten in the cross fire. Absently, she traced the line of the scar left from ramming into something sharp before being thrown to the floor that night. A bruise now dark mixed with yellows forming almost everywhere on her body. Alecto ached and her head was pounding. Not knowing how to feel about her best friend was starting to take its toll on her. Her stomach growled and her fingers immediately laced near her belly button. âI should get food,â she said to herself, âAnd probably out of the house.â
Alecto took one look to the picture of her and Amycus that she had on the mantel. Her heart pulling at the thought that she might run into her brother again. But nonetheless, she shook her head, pulling on her black sneakers and throwing her auburn hair in a messy bun. Without much more thought, she shut the door and made her way to the cafe where she had last seen her brother. Half in hopes that he would be there. There was too much that wasnât said that needed to be. Instead, she had started crying and allowed her heartache to grasp her. Alecto was shaken from her thoughts when she saw Remus through the window of the cafe. Without thinking, she opened the door and slid herself into the booth. A tired smile playing on her lips. âHello Remus,â she said rather lethargic.

there is no shame in loving
peterpettiewâ:
Peterâs eyes grew big and his face became beet red. âAlecto!â He gasped. Of course she didnât understand what he was telling her. He let a soft smile appear on his face as she said his name, âBunny, Iâve told you. Rabastan and I have a past, way back from Hogwarts. Nothing has changed between us.â He arched an eyebrow just as quickly as Alecto let go. Something was up, she was acting squirely, though he wasnât going to try and pry to make her open up. Â
Peter looked at her, trying to remember if he had seen Mollyâs face in the crowd. âI donât think Mollyâs here, buttercup.â Though, if Alectoâs here, Molly had to be here, right? Peterâs face still burned hot and flushed from Alectoâs comment. âNo no no no no, oh god no Alecto, nothing like that.â He shook his head, âRabastan and I were, yes going to âdo the doâ in the bathroomâŚlike back at Hogwarts.â He responded rather quickly, in a slightly mocking tone. He rolled his eyes and chuckled. âI donât see any beds near by for Rab and I to use. Am I wrong?â He raised his eyebrow towards her and smiled.Â
A mischievous look cross her childlike face. Alecto was never one for pranks or the like. Though she was known to partake in some parties thrown in different houses in Hogwarts. Even if those parties were more often than not in the Gryffindor common room. One of which is when she ended up losing her innocence to Peter. Her cheeks flushed at the memory of waking up in his bed. Peter was the only man that she ever felt comfortable enough to do anything with. Let alone see her naked. âWell, I hope he satisfies your insatiable ass,â she teased, poking his belly button with a lilac painted nail.
A smile split across her face as the embarrassment was clear on her best friendâs face. Rare were the days when she could do this to him. It was normally the other way around and Alecto was beaming with pride. âThere is an upstairs isnât there?â she said slightly louder, âUse one of the Blackâs beds. Iâm sure you couldnât make too much of a mess, right? Unless itâs been that long since youâve gotten your rocks off.â

Alexander bit back a laugh as the woman next to him snorted on her drink, obviously surprised at being addressed. It would be impolite to laugh at a stranger, and a McKinnon could never afford to be impolite (unless that McKinnon was named Marlene). âSorry, didnât mean to startle you there.â He said instead, a smile curving his mouth upwards.Â
In answer to her question, he looked around, nodding his thanks at the bartended came back with his drink. âOh, yes, itâs been fine. The open bar certainly helps,â he chuckled softly, his gaze coming back to land on the woman next to him. She was unfamiliar to him, which was strange, because usually the McKinnons made it their business to know everyone. He held out his hand to her, charm seeping through his every action as he tried to make a good impression. âAlexander McKinnon,â he said, introducing himself.Â
She gave a polite smile. Knowing full well that he was trying not to laugh at her. Which would have been fine if he had. Alecto was used to being laughed at for most of her life. If not made fun of. But this wizard didnât seem like he was trying to me malicious in his actions. Which made her feel a little better about the fact that she had just snorted her drink in front of a total stranger. Or someone she assumed to be a total stranger. âItâs okay to laugh,â she said, wiping off the liquid with the back of her hand, âIâm more or less used to it and itâs entirely too easy to startle me. So, itâs alright.â
Alecto took his hand with her free hand. Stretching her arm across her torso as her eyes met his. Her mind searching for any sort of recognition of his face. But there wasnât any. That didnât go without saying that she had a terrible memory. She let her arm fall back to her side as she beamed at him. âAlecto Carrow,â she said proudly, âNice to meet you, Alexander. Alcohol tends to help every event, donât ya think?â

LESTRANGE POLITICAL FUNDRAISER. the black manor open starter
Alexander had always made it a point not to choose a side in the current political climate. The Death Eaters, the Order. His siblings may have chosen to fight, but things were different for him. He had a business to help run, a family legacy to carry on. He couldnât afford to get caught up in a fight over which side deserved to rule. Really, he didnât care who ended up winning this fight, so long as they continued to let the McKinnon family business succeed the way it always had.Â
So his attendance at the Lestrange fundraiser had nothing to do with loyalty to Rodolphus Lestrangeâs campaign for minister. Alexander knew enough to know that the two candidates for minister were puppets for the two sides of the fight, and just as he wouldnât choose a side, he also wouldnât choose a candidate. But it was important for the McKinnon family business to have his presence here. Besides, it was an excellent time to network, and the free alcohol certainly was a bonus.
After Rodolphus made his speech (a mediocre job, Alexander wondered who wrote it for him and whether he could convince the man to hire the McKinnons in the future), Alexander continued to scan the party, looking for someone to chat with next. The glass of scotch in his hands was nearly empty, so he decided to stop by the bar before hitting his next target. Making a beeline, Alexander ordered another drink and then leaned back to wait for it, looking over to see someone to his right. âEnjoying the party?âÂ
Normally, she wouldnât be drinking. Under any other circumstances, Alecto would be having a pumpkin juice rather than a gin and tonic. But tonight was different somehow. Dances had never been her thing and neither was getting all dolled up. Yet there she was with a sea of people sitting around and gossiping. A sea of people who were equally dolled up as she was. Though her feet were aching in her heels and she had since taken them off. Alecto thought that alcohol was fitting to the vibe she got from the night. Finding herself perched at the bar, heels in hand.
âAnything fruity,â she told the bartender as she turned her attention to the crowd. There was still no sign of Molly anywhere. No sign of Arthur either. Not that she really thought her best friendâs man of interest would be there. But it was a thought. A familiar face in the sea of discomfort she was feeling. As soon as her drink bumped into her arm, Alecto beamed and her eyes lit up. She thanked the bartender and took a big drink as someone came to sit next to her. Not expecting anyone to come ask her questions, she snorted the drink up her nose.
âOh, um, yeah?â she said, pressing the back of her hand to her nose, âI guess so? You? Are you, um, enjoying it?â

peterpettiewâ:
Peter really wasnât in the mood to be talking to anyone else but when his vision cleared and he was able to focus on the person that had been following him down the hallway. It was Alecto. Of course it was Alecto, thoughâŚwhy was she here? She very much didnât like being at the Black Manor.. it was obvious, it was on her face. âBunny..â He whispered. His eyes were big and full of confusion. âWâŚWhat are you doing here Bunny?â Peter stumbled closer to the small, little witch. She was beautiful, always a ray of sunshine in Peterâs eyes.Â
He knew he was going to have to answer her, except he didnât know exactly what he was going to say. He hadnât told her he was working with Bellatrix, he hadnât told her that he was living in Bellatrixâs back yard. Alecto hated Bellatrix - only because she scared her. Quick Pettigrew. Think of something. Think! He put his hand up against his forehead. Rabastan. Peter had been with Rabastan most of the evening. Of course, use him. Peter looked at her brown eyes with hits of green in them from her dress. Alecto looked like she had tears in her eyes. He got closer to her holding his arms open so she could come hug him. âIâm here with Rabastan. He wanted me to be his plus one to this stupid event.â Peter rolled his eyes as he felt her nestle into his arms, he laid his lips against her forehead and kissed it. âYou look beautiful tonight Bunny.â He said softly. Â
Peterâs eyes darted around the room. He couldnât let her see through his wall. âI was suppose to meet Rabastan in the bathroom. Not very romantic if you get my drift, but itâll do.â He let out a drunk laugh, in hopes of Alecto catching his vibes. He smiled as he held tightly to her.Â
Alecto didnât understand. She tried desperately to wrap her head around why Peter could have possibly been there. Why he was linked to Rabastan Lestrange. But nothing seemed to be making any sense anymore. Her head swam and her brow furrowed with confusion. âRabastan?â she said incredulously, âHow are you and--and Rabastan Lestrange?â Nothing was coming out right. Her thoughts were riddled with too many questions. Alecto felt sick. Sirius Black had messed with her perception and all she could see was Peter standing next to Bellatrix with a grin. Even though she could feel his arms around her. Slowly, she brought her arms around him as well and as soon as she pulled away she folded her arms across her chest.
âIâm looking for Molly,â she said shaking her head, âWhy are you... Glory hole?â she whispered, leaning closer to him, âAre you doing the do in the bathroom like back at Hogwarts? You know that beds exist, yeah?â

WHEN: FRIDAY EVENING
WHERE: BLACK MANOR; LASTRANGE POLITICALÂ
It had been an event that Peter had been dreading since he had heard word of it throughout the time of Peter living at the Black Manor. He wasnât one who enjoyed to get âdolled upâ. But because he was the baby bird - he had to be there. Peter stood there in front of the mirror, adjusting his tie, fiddling with the loose ends of his curls that wouldnât stay still. He let out a sigh, mumbling softly. âHere goes nothing.âÂ
Fumbling the the ends of his suit jacket, Peter walks into the Black Manorâs ballroom. The room was full and bustling, lots of huge big name people from the Ministry here in support of Rodolphus. Peter stayed close to the back of the room, he stood with his back against the wall, he took a drink of the firewhiskey he picked up from a waiter walking through the room. Peter had been drinking hours before the event so without warning, he was already bloody past plastered. Peter watched the faces past in front of him, he said his helloâs and goodbyes, he smiled his smiled that he knew he needed to show.Â
Peter kept his chin high as he slowly stumbled through the ballroom. He just wanted to get out of there. He was almost to the door when the power went out and in that moment of darkness, he knew - he needed to leave. This wasnât a place for a rat. The lights came on and in a blink Peter was out the doors. He couldnât stay there, it was a death sentence just waiting for him.Â
He found himself in the hallway leading to the way back of the manor where the guest house was before Peter was stopped in his tracks by a voice. He stopped and turned, leaning on wall. âYâŚYes? CâŚCan I..I help you?â Peter let out a hiccup in the middle of his words. His vision was blurred so he couldnât see who was following him. Though in this moment - he was either going to die or he was going to be able to lay in his bed and sleep. He took a step closer, âWhat do you want?â
Knowing that Molly was involved with a raid was unnerving. It was driving her insane and without further thought, Alecto made the decision to go to the event. Silently, she rummaged around her room and pulled out her old school trunk from her closet. Kneeling next to it she blew the dust from the top and smoothed her hands over the chipped wood. It felt foreign to her to see her trunk in front of her. With a sigh, she flipped the locks on it and tipped the top off. It fell with a loud chunk and Alecto winced at the sound. She knew that Molly wouldnât want her going too. She knew that this meant a fight was bound to happen between them. Not that fights hadnât happened before. But she knew this one in particular would be bad. Alecto wasnât a fighter. She couldnât fight when her parents pinned her and Amycus against each other as kids. So if fighting was about to happen she was as good as screwed.
Running bony fingers through her curls, Alecto began to dig through the numerous things she had thrown in the trunk throughout the years. Fifteen minutes later and she found what she was looking for. A beautiful green and beige dress that her mother had bought for her years ago. It had always been too long for her short legs and while she had grown some during the years since she had bought it...there still was much progress to be made. Alecto pulled the dress from her trunk and laid it on her bed while she shut her trunk and shoved it back into her closet. Finally, she turned and stared at it with hands poised on her hips. âLetâs get this party started,â she sighed to herself as she hastily removed her clothes and pulled the dress over her head.
Half an hour of struggling with it and pins to make it both look natural and for her to be able to walk without tripping later. She was finally ready. Alecto pulled her curls into a makeshift messy bun that she could all but hear her mother fussing over should she see her. But Alecto didnât plan on seeing her mother or Amycus there for that matter. Slipping her dainty feet into a pair of green flats, she apparated to the Black manor. It terrified her to say the least. Andromeda was two years older than she was and could snap her like a twig if she so wished and Bellatrix? A shiver ran down her spine at the thought of the older woman. Alecto scanned the crowd for Molly but the ginger was nowhere to be seen. But who she did spot--was Peter.
Her heart dropped to the pit of her stomach as she fought the urge to run to him. Siriusâ words echoing in her head. Seeing him here just confirmed what he had said and Alecto fought the tears that welled in her eyes. âPeter?â she said, voice barely above a whisper as she slowly walked to him, âWhy are you here?â
goodoldfashioned-tonksâ:
Sir. In any other setting, it would have made Ted laugh. Here though, despite standing beside the most brightly dressed person there, it only made him perplexed. Had she no idea who he was? âMoral supportâŚthatâs really good of you,â he told her, âIâŚnot really.â Or at all. âMyâŚfiancee was here though, so I supposeâŚsimilar to you, Iâm here for moral support.â
Alecto beamed. Validation was something sh thrived on. Being that she never got it as a child she supposed she needed it as an adult. Shoving her hands in her jacket pockets, she moved her gaze to her feet. Feeling suddenly bashful. âMy --,â she cut herself off, not knowing what to call Molly, âsister is here and she knew James. Not as well as the rest I imagine. But she did know him. More than I did at least.â Her golden brown eyes lit up at the mention of a fiancee. Alecto was a sucker for a good love story. âOh! Whoâs your fiancee? I bet theyâre lovely!â
