PART 6: THE CHALLENGE XOXO (Seth Rollins x fem!reader)
Summary: Her relationship with Seth deepens as a new challenge arises. Unbeknownst to the new Judgment Day, she knows just the person who can help her overcome the obstacle.
"NOT ALONE" MASTERLIST
Notes: English isn’t my first language, and I apologize for any mistakes I may have made while I wrote this story.
Sorry for having to wait ages for this, but here it is after a G. R. R. Martin esque hybernation and disappearance. I finally sat my ass down to finish this chapter and this is the type of lock in I need for my bachelor's thesis (fanfiction is much more important tho, sadly I can't wrestle in the type of English literature they ask of me).
Please know that this is my first ever multiple chapter fic and the first ever fic I’m writing for Seth or WWE. As I already mentioned, for the sake of the story and the plot I had to mess with the true WWE timeline a whole lot. The story starts a few weeks after Summer Slam 2024 and I took the liberty to change Seth’s, Rhea and Damian’s, the Judgment Day’s and the IC Women’s Championship’s timeline and/or story. I hope you guys understand and don’t mind the changes<3
Warnings: swearing, WWE-typical violence, self doubt, referenced mental health issues, after SummerSlam 2026 the writer aka me decided to reference some Shield trauma

23 DAYS UNTIL THE WOMEN’S IC CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
The air ran out of her lungs as one of Seth’s arms pushed both of her shoulders down, while the other had a firm grip on her hip, not giving her a single chance for a kick out.
One – two – three… she counted in her head tiredly as he finally leaned back to sit on his heels, leaving her enough room to collect herself.
“Nice one.” Seth still praised her as she brushed her hair out of her eyes, not feeling like her performance was praise-worthy at all.
God damn, he pinned her the exact same way he pinned LA Knight yesterday on Smackdown, where he had to make an appearance out of spite due to the amount of shade he had gotten. And she went to Iowa with him because – well – she didn’t want to stay at home alone and miss out on the chance to practice with Seth, who – fuck him – still made her run before they could get to the current WWE arena.
And fuck her, she watched that match from his locker room as she comfortably crossed her legs on the couch, almost falling to the ground from how hard she was rooting for him and from the awe his in-ring demeanor caused – because that was exactly what she wanted to be: confident, smart and cunning.
She watched this exact match yesterday, she had seen how Seth Bucklebombed Knight into the corner and how he grabbed him by the shoulders to throw him into the middle of the ring, only to then pin him and win the match. God damn her for letting Seth pull the exact same thing on her only a day later.
“Doesn’t feel like it.” she finally answered as they were both panting and wiping the sweat away from their foreheads.
“Just because you lost, it doesn’t mean that you didn’t do one Hell of a job.” Seth explained as he got up to his feet and looked down at her still resting form. “We just had a solid half-an-hour match with great moves. Your form for the kicks was perfect, you own the Stomp and the Pedigree by now and you almost successfully pulled a Razor’s Edge on me – which is fucking awesome. It reminded me of your Tag Team Match with Priest and it’s good to know you didn’t forget the move. And – if you’re asking me – this is a must do for your Judgment Day feud. The crowd will love it.”
She felt her face turn red from the praise and her mind managed to push the memory of Damian to the side. She just smiled up at him shyly as something – probably the part of her that was hungry for praises of any kind – in her belly fluttered.
“You just don’t want to let that Tag Match go, do you?” she chuckled to not give him the time and opportunity to tease her.
“Never. Not when it’s in my top ten.”
“Huh – never thought I’d catch you with this bad of a taste, Coach.” she joked as she sat up, letting her elbows rest on her knees.
“Don’t push it.” Seth warned, but a smile was hiding in his voice. “So--“ he clapped his hands together to get her attention. “--this match just proved that it’s time to teach you a new move.”
Yes, finally – the excitement made her giddy. Learning something new from Seth turned out to be an endless amount of fun – thankfully – otherwise anxiety would’ve made her unable to accomplish anything new decently. And she liked to have fun with him – even if he was a pain in the ass sometimes, who always managed to get the upper hand.
“Once again, you did well.” he made that clear once again before he continued: “The reason why you lost is because you had no way of getting out from that headlock once I caught you by the shoulders. But--“ and that was how she already knew something fun and morally grey was coming. “--thankfully Lyra has something good for that which we can borrow.”
Still, her lips curled upwards at his words, because after the chaos she was able to cause out there in the ring – something she thoroughly enjoyed doing – she was all in.
“Using her own move against her and that costing Lyra the title.” she spelled Seth’s plan out loud. “As you said – the crowd will love it.”
For a moment – and only one –, right before Seth’s smirk turned into a grin, there was something in his eyes, something that made her warm all over. He looked down at her like he appreciated that she’s able to follow his train of thought and make it her own, and because of that he somehow adored every single thing about her. Then, the moment passed and she didn’t feel as heavy anymore. Her throat didn’t feel as tight as before – she could finally breathe again.
“Exactly.” was all he chose to say.
“So – which move are you thinking about?”
Seth shook his head as he raised a hand. “Not so fast – this one we’ll have to break down into two parts, otherwise injuries can happen. And we don’t want that.”
No, they really didn’t.
“So today we’ll teach you the Rope Run. This is a great way to get out of a headlock or an aggressive grab if you’re cornered. And when you perfect this one, we’ll teach you how to end it in a Tornado DDT. How does that sound?”
Rope Run Tornado DDT. Fuck, that one looked good.
She still remembered how she focused on that move of Lyra’s as fear made her throat tight after Finn told her the match between them is planned. And now – now Seth trusted in her abilities, he knew she’d be able to pull it off and she’ll have a chance to use her feared move on Lyra. The feared move Finn knew about, and fuck him, she really wanted to let him know that she wasn’t scared anymore.
“Like a plan.” she answered. “I need this move. Seriously. Bálor knows that I--”
“I know.” Seth interrupted her with a smile. “That’s why you’ll learn it and show him how good you are, Champ.”
Her smile softened.
Seth knew her well. And he cared about what she wanted to prove. That alone could make her emotional on a whole different level.
“So, ready to learn?” he asked as he extended a helping hand.
And she took it – almost immediately.
She was on her feet in seconds, standing face to face with Seth as her smile turned into a grin.
“Where do we start, Coach?”
16 DAYS UNTIL THE WOMEN’S IC CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Rope Run Tornado DDT wasn’t that hard to learn. Not when Seth was her coach, who knew her strengths and weaknesses very well.
With the way he taught her the move – breaking it down into two parts to make sure the move-set would stick – it didn’t take her half a week to learn how to get out of his headlocks with ease. Soon she had Seth on the ground more times than ever before, yet he still continued to kick out – damn him.
He was still able to push his thighs up no matter how hard she pushed him down, her forehead almost meeting his as she put her body weight on his shoulders as well. Still, eventually she found herself on her back, with her legs hooked over Seth’s arms as he counted to three while breathing heavily.
Yet no matter that she always lost he never forgot to praise her for a job he thought was well done and perfectly executed.
Then, it was time to learn something new again. They were soon sitting in the middle of the ring as usual, as Seth held his phone out showing her what he would teach her next, her chin almost touching his neck as she peeked over his shoulder to look at the screen. And if learning Lyra’s move came as a surprise, then what he showed him next was a complete shock.
“Are you sure?” was the first thing what came out of her mouth, then she realized how rude it must’ve sounded and they were way past wanting to intentionally hurt the other. “I mean, are you sure you want me to bring this back?”
It’s been a while since Seth had used the Seth Walker from his arsenal, and he mostly did it when he was still part of a whole different era. An era of his she respected like many others, therefore it felt odd that he wanted her to learn it and bring it back to the picture. He wanted to give it to someone who has never even owned any of the singles titles beforehand.
“Why not?” he asked as he put his phone away, hiding his old self in black behind the lockscreen. “Someone has to. And it has to be someone I believe can master it and give it the love it deserves.”
She smiled as she looked away for a moment to collect herself. When she turned to look at him again, Seth was facing her, waiting for a response which got delayed from the sudden shock of being so close to him that their noses almost collided.
She swallowed. She really hoped Seth knew how much she appreciated the trust he had in her when no one else did.
He trusted her enough to teach her his own signature moves, those he still used to that very day. That by itself was something she found surprising – shocking even. Maybe she was too used to her loved ones wanting to one up each other with greed and jealousy, to understand that sharing doesn’t necessarily mean wanting to steal the other’s spotlight. Coming out of that unhealthy relationship was still hard, but she was learning. Still, Seth wanting to teach her one of his past moves from a time of his life which she knew was a sensitive topic, was something else entirely.
She forced her lips to turn upwards despite the mix of feelings within her. “So, let’s break it down?”
“Yes.” Seth nodded as he got to his feet then reached out his hand to pull her up into a standing position. “This one – it’s great for avoiding attacks from behind and turning them into a counter. It’s better to kick the opponent though, since with too much momentum from them you can easily find yourself thrown over the top rope.”
She nodded as she followed along, hiding a frown when his voice began to sound all too serious, without even just a tiny bit of fun. This was different. And she disliked it right away, just as Seth disliked her uncertainty and negative mindset about her own capability.
“So--“ he clapped his hands together. “--starting position. Come here for a moment, Champ.”
She took one step toward him, leaving him just enough space to turn around. She let her arms hang on her sides lazily as she patiently waited for Seth to tell her what to do with them as usual.
“Hands on the sides of your opponent’s head.” he continued to explain as his hands touched her cheeks, then blindly travelled downward until his thumbs were hooked under her jaw – and after the first signs of him putting pressure on the thin skin, his thumbs massaged the possibility of some redness away immediately. “Raise your hands and push my back, as if you were trying to free yourself.” she did as he said. “Now you kick yourself up – look out, Champ.”
Seth kicked himself up, using her hands for more momentum. She soon found herself under the pressure of his body weight as he basically did a handstand with her body as a helping surface. Then he was out of her sight as her body was pulled back, back and back, until she hit the ground and Seth landed effortlessly above her head.
He looked down at her, just a tiny bit of smile hiding in the corner of his mouth.
“And then you go for the pin. Immediately, okay? You don’t let them collect themselves.”
She blinked nervously as she breathed, her chest rising and sinking heavily.
“Okay, Coach.” she blew tiny strands of hair out of her eyes. “And if they still get up then what? Do I just Stomp them?”
The light was back in his eyes so suddenly, she felt her face get hot. His lips curled fully upwards as a small chuckle escaped from them. “You got it, Champ.”
She stretched her arms out, signaling a very polite ‘help me up, damn it’ and Seth complied.
It was her turn to try it as she found herself against Seth’s chest, the crown of her head slightly bumping into his chin. She put her hands on sides of his head, hooking her thumbs under his jawline, his stubble pricking her fingers lightly.
His arms were already raised, ready to push her away to help her with her momentum at first. But she backed down at the last moment, making him hold onto her sides to not let her fall. Something wasn’t right and she had to make sure he was alright.
She licked her lips as she turned her head, so she could see his face if only just barely. “I, uhm—appreciate you wanting to teach me this, but you don’t have to if you don’t want to.”
His fingers along her sides tightened slightly as she felt him talk above her head. “I want you to learn this, because I know you deserve to learn this. Now quit being a good girl and pin me.”
She smiled as she held onto his head tighter. “You sure?”
The laugh that ran along the top of her head, blowing away strands of her hair, was from both joy and light exhaustion. “I’m starting to think that you’re stalling, Champ.”
Pride swelled in her chest from the knowledge that she made him happy. That she made it feel alright.
“You asked for it, Coach.” she joked as she kicked herself upwards and soon Seth laughed again – even harder – as they both landed on their sides instead of their backs.
12 DAYS UNTIL THE WOMEN’S IC CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
She finally had him where she wanted to. After a Seth Walker, in the middle of the ring, on his back, his limbs spread out like a starfish. She didn’t hesitate as she crawled toward Seth. She forced him to stay put as she put her body weight on him, pushing his midsection down, then hooking one of his legs over her elbow.
And one – two – three…
Motherfucker!
She turned around, letting her back rest against Seth’s belly and side. She was breathing heavily, her hair was a mess, and she felt sticky from sweating too hard – but that’s what a half-an-hour match does to a person…
When she looked down at Seth, her opponent, he just smiled up at her, his eyes were still glassy from falling onto his back too hard. Yet judging by the way his lips moved, praise was about to leave his mouth, and this one was supposed to be a real one, after she successfully managed to beat him for the first time.
“Son of a bitch!” she cursed as she dropped his leg before he could even say a word. “You let me win!”
Seth pushed himself up onto his elbows, so their faces could be on the same level – and this way he could also get his hair out of his face, since quite a few stands had managed to escape his bun. He didn’t push her off himself though, he let her sit there and lay against him to calm down and catch her breath.
“I did not.” he argued as he examined her face.
“Don’t lie to me, Rollins!” she clapped back as she wiped some sweat off her forehead.
Seth chuckled. “Okay, there goes my last name, so let’s get serious.”
She gave him a look from the corner of her eyes as anger seeped inside her. And she didn’t want to let it out on Seth, she really didn’t – not when he was the only one who stayed with her, the only one who helped her and when he was someone she actually liked. But it broke out of her anyway and it didn’t want to leave. Not soon enough at the very least.
“I let you win – because after what happened on RAW you needed it.”
She swallowed and continued to avoid his gaze, otherwise the wrath would have turned into angry tears.
“Look, Champ, don’t let one bad day at work keep you down, alright? It was a bad day, you got teamed up on and it’s not your fault. It happens to everyone at least once during a feud.”
She closed her eyes. It might happen to everyone, but it can’t happen to her. Not right now at least. Not when she had such a good winning streak.
Her promo to call out to Lyra went to shit. The new Judgment Day attacked her, and the boys were unmanly enough to hold her down while Liv did whatever the she wanted to. She was taunted, laughed at – and she never felt more like her old self, the someone she needed to bury.
She felt weak. And she didn’t like that. She hated that. She hated how it reminded her how it felt to be both weak and scared. And no matter how much ice cream Seth fed her afterwards, the feeling just didn’t want to go away. It only got worse as the hours went by and her call log stayed empty.
She shook her head. “Lyra had to come out and help me. Fucking Lyra, out of all people. The one I should fight, not expect as backup.”
“Because you did one Hell of a job! You made sure Lyra hates Liv more than you – her opponent!”
She snorted. “It sure as fuck doesn’t feel like I did a bang up job.” she wiped her eyes as she turned away even more – the tears started to fall, damn, she hated that she was an angry crier. “Rhea wasn’t there.” she continued, getting to the part that hurt the most. “She didn’t come to help and neither did Damian. Lyra had to come and help me, you understand? And it’s not like I expect them to hold my hand, because I want to win alone. But still… and-- and now I’m back to thinking I can’t do this--”
“I was halfway through gorilla when Lyra’s music hit.” Seth blurted it out before she could finish, causing her to finally look at him through the tears. “And you can ask anyone there, I was cursing Mami and Papi to Hell and back.”
“But you said--“ no one should know what to expect from her…
“I didn’t care.” Seth shook his head. “I wasn’t gonna let my student get teamed up on. And look, Rhea and Damian aren’t my business. I can’t tell you what to do or not do with them, but they aren’t here. You are not alone, but they aren’t here and they are even pissing me off now.” Shockingly, he did sound angry – he spat their nicknames out with obvious venom and seemingly even talking about them could set him off. “And don’t worry about this one bad day. It happens, and on the brighter side, the audience – your loyal audience – was booing them out of the stadium.”
Seth sat up to give more meaning to his words, he slowly pulled his knees toward himself, so she could still rest against his legs without having to change her position. “And don’t you come at me with this ‘you can’t win’ bullshit again. Have you seen yourself wrestle lately? Have you heard your promos lately? You both look and sound like a Champ to me.”
A few more tears fell – these ones from hearing something she needed to, and those words came from the current most unserious wrestler in the business. She laughed and it came out like a sob.
“Thank you.” she smiled at him and Seth reached out to wipe the tears away, his thumbs gently massaging the sensitive skin under her eyes.
“Anytime.”
She tilted her head as she looked at him. “But I don’t need pity wins, okay? Don’t make me think I am someone I’m not.”
Seth chuckled as he let his hands fall to his sides. “Believe me, Champ, you have no idea who the fuck you are.” when she swallowed and tilted her head backward to collect herself, he continued. “And I swear I may have been able to kick out, but you sure as Hell made me think about not wanting to.”
She chuckled too as she sighed. “Oh, I am going to give them Hell next week…”
“I’m sure you will.” Seth nodded and he sounded absolutely sure that she was capable of doing that.
They shared a smile as she crossed her arms. Her tears stopped, although her eyes still seemed slightly red and her cheeks still seemed wet under the lights. But she felt better, much better – and she knew Seth could see it too, judging by how his body language changed back to its usual relaxed self.
Seth Rollins was the only person on Earth who could calm her down. Her old, dumb self would laugh at the thought. But even she would have to accept that he was right. And she wouldn’t let one bad day ruin her training.
She cleared her throat. “What about Round 2, Coach? You said I fight best when I’m angry.”
“Are you sure you’re up for it?” Seth asked with a raised eyebrow and when she nodded eagerly, he let out a tortured whine as he let himself fall backwards until his back touched the ring. “I swear this must be revenge for all those leg days…”
And she laughed so hard she had to close eyes, not allowing herself to see the honest grin Seth had on his face.
7 DAYS UNTIL THE WOMEN’S IC CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Seth was right. He spelled out a truth she didn’t want to accept, a truth she could use without regret or getting in too much trouble. Rhea wasn’t here. And if Rhea didn’t want to show up, then she could make her show up to prove her point to the audience, which began to listen and like what she had to say.
‘THIS IS MY BRUTALITY!’
The dark purple light reflected in her eyes, blinding her for a second as she looked at the screen and ramp – the empty threat. She looked at it and felt the false promise of it in her whole heart. That’s what she was promised and that’s what she got – everything and nothing all at once. Seeing it in real life for the first time finally made her understand the weight of it and it made her come to the conclusion – or the ending. That’s exactly what she needed: she needed it all to end. She needed to break up with that toxic ex, she needed to end the dying beast what her relationship with Rhea and Damian was.
She sighed. Yes, that’s probably for the best and it is the best outcome. They didn’t argue, they didn’t turn on each other – they just drifted apart, allowing her to grow. It’s time to say goodbye.
She turned to look at the audience who seemed excited, then her gaze landed on the new Judgment Day and their absolute fear and terror… Then she raised the mic until it almost reached her lips and let out a laugh, causing everyone to look around to try and find out what the Hell was going on. When she pulled her hood down, those who were closest to her in the audience seemed to understand it instantly.
Rhea’s music stopped right as she straightened her back to appear taller, not like she needed help with looking scary when all that rage was inside her.
“Here you go, ladies and gentlemen!” she announced as she pointed at Liv, whose scared little face turned sour. “Here is the greatest Women’s World Champion of all time acting like a scared little girl when Mami is about to appear.”
She chuckled into the mic, and many followed her lead.
“Oh no, wait, wait, wait – let me correct myself, stupid mistake: Mami doesn’t even have to appear to make Liv Morgan act like the coward she is!” she spat out the last few words as she kept her gaze on the enemy. “So let me rewind Summer Slam for those who missed it--” she began as she climbed over the barricade, making her way towards the ring. “Liv Morgan, knowing she can’t beat Mami in a fair fight, needed a wet dog’s help to get the gold.” she turned toward the audience as she hissed. “So technically, we should congratulate little Dom-Dom for being your Women’s World Champion!” the people’s laughter made her laugh too, especially when she looked at Dom’s confused face. “Oh, no, don’t be shy Dom, you should be proud, really. This is your greatest accomplishment other than having the last name of your father.”
Liv said something what looked like an ‘I will kill you’ – she couldn’t hear it through the chants and laughter. Even Finn chuckled behind Dom, which made the latter turn around and huff angrily.
“Nice of you to show up after last week, honey. I thought you would need another week off to--” Liv began as she raised the championship high, showing it off as if she earned it.
“Last week? You mean last week when you needed – one, two… – three people’s help just to land a punch?” she interrupted as she took a step toward them. “Every time I come out here – every time I outwrestle you and even out-bitch you, I prove a point: you couldn’t win that championship alone, you can’t keep it alone and you will sure as fuck lose it like the coward you are.” Dom put his hand on Liv’s shoulder to calm her down, but she brushed it off immediately.
“I have taken everything from you!” Liv screamed in frustration as she marched forward and grabbed the top rope.
She made a confused face as she acted as if she needed the audience’s help to figure out what she meant. Her grip on the mic was firm, the only reason why her fingers shook slightly was because of the anger and happiness she felt as she got her revenge.
“Everything? You mean those guys?” she chuckled. “Oh, you can keep your mutt, and the guy who did the dirty work for you and-- honestly what does JD even do, I could never figure it out.”
Liv’s face began to turn red as the crowd chose her side again and laughed at the new Judgment Day like the joke it was.
“I’m sorry, but every week you crawl out here to try and make a point: I am the greatest champion, I have the greatest faction, I took everything… And yet you fail every time, because someone always has to take a punch to save your ass.” she took a step back as she smiled up at Liv. “Truth is, if they banned interference tonight, you'd lose before the opening bell. Without little Dom-Dom you never become Champion. Without Finn you never have the Judgment Day. And without that?” she pointed at the Women’s World Championship and as response Liv tightened her grip around it, making her laugh. “That’s it! You know it, deep down you really do – you have to hold onto that real tight because otherwise people might realize you’re only keeping that title warm for someone else.”
The cheering – damn, it felt good. Too good. It gave back everything – everything what was taken from her last week when she was overpowered. Now they were overpowered. Only she didn’t need three puppy dogs for that, not when she had thousands of people as willing participants.
She threw the mic up and then caught it, before throwing it once again, only this time making it land in front of Liv’s feet.
“See you around, Champ!” she shouted as she raised her left arm, giving the signal that she was done and the music can start up again. “I hope you enjoy the music, I borrowed it just for you!”
‘DO OR DIE--’
She smiled at the people as she turned around, waving at them as a silent thank you for the active participation. She had done what she wanted, she had given them reason to be angry, she was sure they would even argue.
“Don’t you go too far away…” Liv shouted through the music, and she turned back in confusion, fully and wholeheartedly believing that her job was done. “Don’t you-- Don’t!”
She laughed when Liv’s voice shook from anger and the crowd didn’t even want to let her talk.
“You always come out here – you always accuse me of not being able to fight alone… Well, I’ll tell you what, you can only fight alone because you have no one to help you!” Liv let out a mocking, evil laughter. “What, you want to prove my point too? Saturday’s Night Main Event has one empty spot! So why don’t we go and show everyone just how alone you are! If you come alone, we will make it a two vs one, but don’t you worry--“ she hated how Liv pulled the shit out of that Y. “--we will go easy on you and give your Papi enough time to show up if he wants to.”
Her shock caused her first reaction to be panic. She panicked as Liv laughed, and she got angry when Dom joined in. Then the raging dark clouds disappeared from her mind as she realized that those four don’t know shit about her…
Suddenly, her lips curled upwards without her even realizing that they were doing that. It was the fans’ cheering what told her she was unknowingly doing that – the cameras must have been quick enough to catch that small millisecond of a reaction.
“See you on Saturday!” she promised as she waved them goodbye.
Saturday – her match against Lyra will be on Monday. Good, it’s doable. It will be too late to let Lyra get ready for her. It will be too satisfying of a moment to let herself worry about what Rhea and Damian would say.
She chuckled. Shit, they think she won’t have a Tag Team partner? Well, they are fucking wrong.
She still felt nervous. She wouldn’t be herself if she wasn’t nervous. But as she walked past gorilla, as she made her way back to her locker room, she had time to make her pulse normal, and she did her absolute best to convince her mind that everything was alright. And even if something was wrong, there was nothing in this world Seth and her couldn’t solve – as a team.
Her mind was racing. Worry collided with common sense as she stepped into her locker room. She could claw her own skin off from the stress. She could punch herself for stressing at all.
Seth was resting on the couch when she arrived, his legs thrown over the armrest lazily. His hands were playing with another horribly over-the-top pair of sunglasses, which matched his hot pink suit. The TV was on and she could see the Judgment Day she had left back there in the ring argue with the crowd as it slowly booed them out of the arena. He had watched it all play out – of course he did, they made it a ritual to watch the other’s matches and promos.
“Whoa, Champ!” he got up from the couch in less than a second as he stepped toward her as soon as she closed the door. “Amazing job as always! I gotta say, that idea with Mami’s theme song was cruel. Honestly, you made me really proud--”
And suddenly as she looked at Seth the world got quiet. Her mind finally managed to shut up and calm down and tell her the truth, which was that she had absolutely nothing to worry about. It was a truth she knew well, but she needed to see him to make sure it was real.
Their eyes met as she sighed.
He had a horrifying fashion sense, he could be annoying and tiring and she could call him every rude word in the book for those leg days – but Seth Rollins was the man she trusted the most.
She looked at him, wide eyed, yet not at all scared as the words escaped from her. “Be my Tag Team partner!”
She both saw and felt him freeze. After the first moment of surprise, his features reacted honestly as he smiled. He didn’t smirk or grin – he just smiled. Under his stupid outfit, she could see her Seth. Her Coach who never let her down and who never planned to do so either. Yet, she realized, even after all the time they had spent together, after the friendship they had managed to build, Seth was still convinced that she would ask Damian and he was completely fine with it. He was completely fine with letting her make her choice.
“I thought it through and that one day tops gives no time for Lyra to get ready for my new moves and I--" she continued to ramble as she swallowed and her face turned hot. “I need you there. No, I want you there. Fuck it… Seth, I trust no one but you to come and help me kick their asses.”
His smile widened, yet this time it still didn’t want to turn into his usual smirk. Not when his eyes softened in the meantime.
“I thought you’d never ask.” he said and even if it was somehow supposed to come off as smug, it did not sound like it in the slightest. “I have been waiting a long time to kick their asses again. I’ll happily do it for you.”
She sighed as if something heavy had finally fallen off her chest. He accepted it – of course he did, doubting him was stupid in the first place.
She smiled at him softly as her insides did a flip, making her realize that she too had been waiting a long time to kick their asses, and she felt actually excited that she would do just that with Seth by her side.
“What?” Seth let out an incredulous chuckle. “You thought I’d say what – no?”
Her expression was the answer to his question.
“You’re out of your mind.” he laughed at her – and playfulness found the both of them again as she hit his arm.
“I mean, you having a match with me wasn’t part of our deal.” she said in defense.
Seth shook his head in disbelief. “As if I’d ever turn down the offer to whoop little Dom-Dom’s ass again…”
She smiled and Seth joined her as they shared an internal laugh about her dumb expectation. Then she licked her lips as she murmured a quiet ‘thank you’.
“It’s nothing.” came the reply and moments later Seth’s usual grin was back again as he added: “So, what, we have about four days to teach you another important move.”
He patiently waited for her to calm down and follow his train of thought as she tilted her head, the cogs turning in her mind, and it didn’t take too long to find out what he was thinking of.
What an attention seeker, she thought, but she couldn’t hide her smile – the smile which widened and widened, then it curled as far up as it could until it turned into a smirk.
I decided to finally come out of my G. R. R. Martin hybernation and see where I abandoned my Not Alone longfic and the conclusion is that it's not as bad as I remembered and I should sit my ass down and finish it.
What a coincidence that you and Seth were in a group called The Shield, because all you've done is use the numbers and the sneak attacks to shield you from guys like me.
I do honestly believe that we'll unfortunatelly be stuck with the Judgment Day until Money in the Bank. I think Roxanne will win the briefcase and she will cash in during Liv vs Becky vs Stephanie.
I sometimes remember that one interview where Becky said she is horrible at getting people over. No, she isn't. WWE creative is just shit at writing storylines for those who are over thanks to Becky. Like Lyra? I don't care about the issues, that SummerSlam match with Becky was my fav of the night and then they just forgot about Lyra up until now. Maxxine? They suddebly remembered she exists too. Why can't WWE creative remember they have midcarders who we as the audience love and want to see more of them?
Don't even get me started about the men. LA Knight and Bron Breakker are crying in the corner.
Gotta watch Raw now for my wife. That means not watching whatever the fuck Roman is doing or not doing. As I ran it past it took him like 10 minutes to walk up to the ring. Buy some better knees bro. And don't you taunt our husband Seth Rollins who outwrestles you any day you spammer.
