Reylo is canon and everything hurts
Honestly guys I get that most of you are mad, but actually liked the movie and I feel like the Reylo fam is now becoming very toxic by criticizing and basically shitting on every aspect of the movie that did not meet your expectations.
My biggest fear was that they wouldn’t acknowledge they had a romantic relationship.
He dies right after they kiss. I know.
But I strongly believe he will live on through her.
Plot holes aside, even if you think it makes no sense for Rey to be a Palpatine they did confirm something most of us Reylos defended since the The Force Awakens:
They were to halves of the same whole.
The were a dyad in the force.
In order for the force to become balanced once Palpatine was defeated, they had to unite in a way that would not have been possible if both of them were still alive.
And you also have to acknowledge that Ben Solo could not simply go on and live his live as if Kylo Ren never existed. He was a dark and evil part of him who did awful things and did not deserve absolution simply because he saved the woman he loved. The resistance would not have received him with open arms. He would have been subjected to a trial and probably sentenced to exile… or worse.
You might want to counter argument with 30 different possible endings better than this one, but well, unfortunately we were not in charge of bringing closure to the saga. JJ Abrams was. And while I admit the script had a lot of plot holes and things that I’m still trying to make sense of, I do believe he did deliver a satisfying ending to this pairing and the saga.
I do agree that the ending was very abrupt and from the editing you can tell they cut things short to wrap it up in a… weird way. But let’s just wait and see!
With the Bluray we will certainly get extra scenes and once the majority of the audience has watched it I believe the cast and crew will give us more explanation to what exactly happened to Ben, since I don’t actually believe he’s dead, and that he simply became one with Rey when he transferred his life force to her.
Anyway, in summary: Please don’t let the Reylo fam become a toxic environment.
I love this community and I hope, once everyone cools off, we can go back to discussing this epic love story optimistically ❤️
This is probably the best post-TROS post I’ve see. So far. Read it. Read it AGAIN. Take it to heart. Was the movie perfect? No. Could some things have been done better? Yes.
But come on, y’all....right after TFA, Reylo was considered a crack ship! Those of us who saw it straight from the get go we’re mocked and ridiculed at insane levels! And now, guess what? We were the ones who were right all along! We saw the story that was being told, and quite frankly, in those early days, there were very few of us who actually believed it would have a canon happy ending.
Personally, I never believed that Ben Solo would survive the trilogy. As a storyteller myself, I saw too many narrative obstacles to his living past his redemption (and I always knew he was, somehow, going to turn away from the Dark Side). He had done too much, committed too many crimes. I know he had been manipulated his entire life, but that alone cannot excuse everything.
Did he deserve better? Of course he did. My heart aches for the little boy he was and for the broken man he became. His story is tragic. But the way he CHOSE to end his journey was truly a beautiful thing to behold.
