“Of course I do,” Jamie smiled as she looked back at Alex.  "Well, I am a Mikaelson.  We have a reputation to uphold.“  Not that she was really the scandalous type like he said.  She just wanted to spend time with him.

Alex rolled his eyes. “Scandelous, seriously? The most scadelous thing you’ve ever done was eat ice cream for breakfast.” He couldn’t help but laugh at his own stupid joke. But it was true. Jamie was good.

Oliver watched the other. “Yeah I gullet that… well why dont we go out…try and get you some nice guy… “he paused…” or we could try and get you that sexy twin back… I mean we always said about being brother in laws right.“ He teased.

Alex rolled his eyes, a small smile playing across his lips. “See.. as thrilling as that sounds there’s a couple problems..” He began, picking up the hot drink, “One… Liam hates me. Two.. god help us if we becoming in laws and three–…” he paused taking a sip, “Jamie would be kind of pissed that I’m cheating on her.”

Oliver watched the other.r “why would he hate you Alex…” he admitted to the other. “And what would be bad about us being in laws?” He questioned. Before hearing about Jamie. “Wait…wait… you and Jamie… since when…and why was I not informed about this.?” He asked.

“Well I’m the reason—..” Alex was cut off by the next question, “Wouldnt he horr—..” and once again. When the question of Jamie came up, Alex’s eyes widened. He could of sworn he mentioned it to Oliver. Oliver was like his brother. “Yeah uh—…” and then it hit him. Alex hadn’t told anyone because Jamie wanted it to be a secret. “Been a few months… with her.. I mean…”

Oliver’s eyes were wide as he listened to Alex. “Dude you should be telling me things like this… I don’t tell anyone those sort of things.” He reminded the other. “But do tell… I have to admit it’s not something I foresaw.”

“Uhh…” Alex shrugged a bit. There were genuine feelings for Jamie…. but at the same time he didn’t know why they started dating. Alex liked her, yeah… but there had always been an uneasy feeling. Keeping it a secret made him feel uneasy. “She’s cool.” Was all he managed to say. All he managed to think. Jamie was nice… they’d been friends for a while… but to Alex that was about it. friends.

Oliver watcher the male and frowned a little. “Alex…” he started before staying quiet for a moment. “Shes cool is not really something that you spend the rest of your life with someone for…” he admitted. “Are you sure that’s all it is?” He questioned. He didn’t want to push it to much.

“Uh...” No. That was the funny thing about Oliver. He was always able to make it make sense. He got Alex’s head. “I just— I don’t want to hurt her...” He got out, “The last thing I need is for Jamie to hate me because I’m stuck on my ex, who I’m in love with by the way, and have her think I used her.” The words seemed to come out fast. The whole thought of it all made Alex anxious. “And what about Li.. god I pushed him away and every time we see each other we just— argue. He probably thinks I despise him.”

Santa. Of course. Alex thought for a moment. “Well the line will probably be out the door and around the block—…” He mumbled. Honestly, despite that line Alex didn’t mind. Usually Riley would talk to him and the time would fly by. “Plus you promised last year that this years photo with Santa we’d wear matching pajamas and look like total idiots.”

Giggling Riley smiled her head, “It just means that you and I will have lots of time together and we both know that that’s never been our biggest problem.” She mused  about it. “I did and it would be crazy cute! Not idiot like at all.. but do you have them or does this mean we get to go shopping for them?”

Riley and Alex did spend a lot of time together. Most days were spent with Riley. “Need to get them...” he smiled sweetly, “The tackier the better... so— your choice.”

Alex was a bit shocked to see Liam. Not that he’d seen him around. “I uh—…” Alex’s gaze fell back to the empty seat across from him. “Yeah— yeah of course…” he managed to get out, nerves bubbling inside him.

“Thanks.” Liam took a seat. “So, um, how are you?” Laim missed Alex more than he could admit.

“Uh...” God you look so pretty. And I totally miss you and am still in love with you... but see I have a girlfriend but she isn’t you... He thought, but what a stupid thing to say. So, Alex just picked up the drink and took a sip of it, shrugging, “You know..” He set it down, “Work—...” I miss you. “Hanging out with Jamie...” Would rather be with you. “Normal kid things...”

Alex swallowed and grabbed the nearest bag of chips. It had been a hot moment since they had alone time together. Usually going out to a restaurant or a movie… there were always people around. “So where are we going exactly…?”

“We’re just going upstairs.  There’s strict rules that no one is allowed up there but it’s my house so..” That rule didn’t really apply to her.  It was just the general masses that couldn’t come upstairs.  “There’s definitely no one in the loft area.  We can watch a movie or something.”

“I mean.. the first thing on the list always is getting a photo with Santa!” She didn’t care how childish is was, what mattered most was enjoying all these little things with Alex.

Giggling a little, Riley nodded her head in agreement. “It just melts in your mouth, it’s heaven! I think my favourite is always Candy Cane Hot Chocolates. Ahhh Alex they’re soo goood!”

Ace listened to his brother and soon his hand was simply playing with the cup instead of drinking it. “ uh… it’s a lot to adjust too… but I’m getting there slowly… I mean not just coming back..but expecting a baby and being told there is one is hard too.” He admitted.

Alex’s eyes widened. “Wait did you say…?” This was news. Alex knew full well throwing himself into work meant having to update himself on everyone else’s lives around him later on. “No joke..? You’re pregnant? Well– not YOU.. but… Char…?”

Ace watched the other and sighed a little. “Was… she was..when everything happened…. and she lost it…afterwards. so knowing there should be a two year old running around this christmas is hard. ” ace stated.

Alex swallowed. He had no idea of the miscarriage and it broke him a bit more. “I—I’m really sorry— for—for everything…”

Ace shook his head to the male. “Alex it’s okay… I have never ever felt any anger or that sort of emotion to you for it. Your my baby brother… I am suppose to protect you, and I did…and I am never going to be sorry for that.” Ace assure him.

The problem was... Alex has already convinced himself. He convinced himself that it was his fault. Ace would still be here. Charlotte wouldn’t hate him. Alaska would be happier. Life would be better. And a part of him would of rather it been him instead of Ace. “I should of just walked home...” he mumbled, “And you would still be here...”

This was the time of year Alex kind of dreaded. It was a weird time. The time between fall and winter; Halloween and Christmas. Crisp weather suddenly turning to a bitter cold. It was the time of year that people were often walking around grumpy and cold. And today.. Alex was content. He occasionally liked cold days so he could sit in the corner of the cafe, some christmasy gingerbread drink, and jotting in his notebook. It’s been a while since his brain shut up and he was actually at peace. When he saw someone approach where he was sitting he looked up, smiling up at them.

Riley saw her best friend she smiled and quickly went up to him after getting her drink. “Alex! How’re you?”

“Ace taught me well.” Alex shrugged slightly, smiling a bit at the fond memory. When the clock stuck 12 am on November 1st Ace would remind Alex that Santa was watching. Every. Single. Year. “He’d never admit it but… he had a soft spot for Christmas. Why else would he make me try every item on the christmas menu…. every year?”

Smiling about it she nodded her head, “He did.” It was something that she thought was cute watching her brothers bond you could say about it. “Bug him enough and he would go on about how much he loves it.” She smirked now at this point laughing. When he passed away Alaska did her best to take over that job but a lot of the times she would steal his drink and only give him a sip or two. “So, how many if you had this year?”

“So far...” Alex took a sip of his warm drink, “Three peppermint chocolate hot chocolates... half a sugar cookie... and a slice of some loaf.” He smiled a bit when his sister smiled. It was rare he ever saw the sight. And when he did, his heart grew even bigger, “However once the gingerbread rolls in— consider me a lost cause, Alaska...”
