Friday Talks Plus Assignment.
This was us being shown a very simple way of using ambient light to make your images more interesting and to blow out the background, and also using the flash with a reflector. The shots obtained from a 5-10 mins of shooting where good editorial pieces and could easily be printed. All about preparation.
This was the image that we got given for our group and we were to take our own interpretation of the image, paying attention to the lighting, composition and facial expression, pose etc.
This is what we came up with. We walked about Glasgow looking for light and if there was any windows that we could use as the image has soft reflections and has been shot through a window. So we thought about keeping the window aspect of the image but maybe trying some different compositions of that and try some with some interesting backgrounds if we found any. Walking past a restaurant in town called “Doner Haus”, we went in and asked and they were more than happy to let us shoot indoors. Even giving me his contact details for future work.
After taking some shots and trying some different background we settled on trying to get the fairy lights in the background as to blow them out and give that soft, taking through glass feel.
Happy with how they turned out, if we had more time would take some time to shoot more in the resteraunt
This is what i came up0 with from the image that we had been given. As the background was what we enjoyed about these images from this location, Wish the light had been maybe 2-3 hours after we where shooting. This would have allowed us to use the longer side of the building and have more opportunities for different styles or angles.
Me, doing something new in life. 😉
Currently working on a long form project about old firm fans. A new approach to my work but equally as enjoyable.

Glasgow Green during the Commonwealth games.
I know I've not been on here for a while (long story) but need a little advice.
As you can see from the image above taken on an iPhone 5 that there is a big bit of dust stuck between the lens and its cover. Does anyone know if this is an easy fix or will I have to send it back to Apple for repair?
I know I could photoshop it out but that would become a nuisance very quickly. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Alex
The Photocopy club will be setting up shop this week at Old street tube in London. We will have zines, prints, work from the archive and more. So come hang out and bring your own zines to swap and sell.

An Old Street Station pop-up gallery in three parts, featuring Satta, Puck Collective and The Photocopy Club.
Bringing three strands of Huck‘s interests to life – photography, craft, and illustration – Pop Pop Pop is a six-day celebration of DIY culture in the belly of one of London’s busiest Underground stations, Old Street, Shoreditch.
Huck is inviting readers, visitors and commuters to watch artisanal skate company Satta, creative art collective Puck and DIY xeroxed photo experiment The Photocopy Club set up their interactive installations over day-and-a-half periods to lift the curtain on the pop-up gallery process, show the curator mindset at work, and engage in zine-swapping and deck-shaping shenanigans.
As well as the exhibits and working artists, Huck is inviting the local creative community to come and be a part of Station Sessions – ten-minute quick-fire Q&As hosted at Pop Pop Pop and broadcast through the Huck website. Tackling contemporary questions like, ‘How can you make yourself heard in an age of digital noise?’ and giving advice to young upstarts looking to get into the game, Station Sessions will deliver quick, insightful lunchtime digests to your desktop.
Pop Pop Pop will also host a launch party on Thursday May 22, 6-8pm, to celebrate our newest issue, Huck 44, featuring Tommy Guerrero on the cover, and enjoy the installations over some White Russians served by Jimmy’s Iced Coffee. RSVP on our eventbrite.
Set-Up Schedule Pop along to any session and watch the gallery spring to life.
