Waiting for her to come back from the war, meanwhile I remembered I drew some headshots of Yasha in 2022 that I never posted and had started to redraw a few months ago, so I went and finished those up.

I can't WAIT to see what the animated series is up to with her, and I think I may have an inkling ...

... due to Marisha (in Inside the Mighty Nein on Beacon ca. 01:17:30, they were talking about easter eggs) bringing up High Curator Tasha's name with a very pitying and pained face, to which Sam commented that yep, she's coming up.

The second half of Spring Meadows, the wonder of Flying Waters, and finally reuniting with Maelle are all in service of getting Gustave to a point where he is emotionally capable of Experiencing Gestrals.

It is So funny to me to have Maelle Gommage the Curator in the jump tutorial.

Also fun to dress everyone in their bathers for Flying Waters, the best underwater level in gaming history.

I really enjoy how much the level design echoes the mood of the story. Like Gustave's descent into hell in Spring Meadows, the red flowers getting denser as they stumble in darkness towards death in Stone Wave Cliffs, or the bleakness of the Forgotten Battlefield, first surrounded by mountains of Expeditioner corpses and hemmed in by ramparts, then the ascent, after a morale-boosting battle, into the quiet autumnal fields where they lay Gustave to rest.

Une vie à t'aimer is an argument, yes, and almost every other song references it in at least some small way, which means that at the end of Act 2 you come to realise that you have been hearing echoes of this in-some-way-familiar song, this well-worn argument, since the prologue, but only now at the end of Act 2 is the argument laid out for you in full. Everything that comes after is about explaining the finer points of it, gathering enough information to make a decision. The music echoes the writing; the music is in some ways far more explicit than the writing. The music tells you from the very beginning what the story is ultimately about.
