Someone on Twitter pointed out that in every Walpurgisnacht Rising trailer Madoka looks very Bunny and I can't unsee it
i made this at 4am and it was a lot funnier then but we persist
los angeles is not known for having a good or even decent public transit system but in the past few years they’ve been expanding the train lines and have been pushing to get people to ride the trains more often, which includes making official la metro merch and, well:
this is a restock because they sold out in less than a week the first time
It is implied through gameplay mechanics that the two kingdoms at war in chess both formally permit regnal polygamy, allowing the King to take at least nine wives of equal status, and that marriage can be bestowed as a military honour, but curiously that honour - in stark contrast to the conventional attitudes of the aristocracy - can only be bestowed upon soldiers of the unlanded class, leaving great questions to be asked of the material interests and stability of these kingdoms' aristocracies
also, their horses lack limbs & their castles are small
yknow the smallness of the castles is FAR from their most interesting distinction from the noticeably immobile ones we are familiar with
i call this joke "chuuni margarine". thank you
this is probably my favorite tiktok of all time and I finally got around to showing it to my dad the other day and now he comes home every day and tells me about all the places he saw crumbling concrete and says "guess they didn't add enough chinchilla flakes"
My dad has worked in construction is whole life, primarily with a company that does concrete foundations, and I immediately sent him this back when I first found it on TikTok, and he IMMEDIATELY shared it with everyone he worked with. They apparently still quote it on his job sites to this day.
I love this text post so I drew it
i hate that concerns about urban gardening/foraging safety is often met with "What are you, a cop?" scorn. I believe it's a suspicion of anything that hinders the punk/anti-system urgency to jump in immediately and do whatever feels right.
Safety, ethics, and sustainability are all a part of urban gardening and foraging. I'm sorry that means you need to do homework before you can do anything, I know that sounds lame. But life is complicated.
I know anti-intellectualism is viewed as activist these days, but like, surely you don't want to literally eat lead, right?
Let’s check in and see how those rascally solarpunk kids are doing, surely they’ve learned by now that…..
Daily reminder: Leafy greens like kales uptake all those delicious heavy metals in urban soils like lead and cadmium.
Don’t eat sidewalk-crack kale.
Here's some cool references from the EPA on safe urban gardening:
REUSING POTENTIALLY CONTAMINATED LANDSCAPES: Growing Gardens in Urban Soils
Steps to Creating a Community Garden or Expand Urban Agriculture at a Brownfields Site
No tech CEO or NYT bestselling novelist will ever match the creativity of a humble French postman who decided on a whim to spend thirty-three years building a surreal, majestic palace with the bricks and mortar of his dreams.
Couple of interesting additions:
1. Ferdinand Cheval tripped over a stone and was inspired by its shape, eventually stating, "It represents a sculpture so strange that it is impossible for man to imitate, it represents any kind of animal, any kind of caricature. I said to myself: since Nature is willing to do the sculpture, I will do the masonry and the architecture."
Here's the tripped-over sandstone in question, which explains some of the abstract design:
Oh, and also:
2. He tripped and started this when he was 43.
This is actually such a crucial part of healing from neglect and abuse and I have to add to this.
Because indeed, people who like you will not roll their eyes and sigh at the idea of accommodating your needs, they will value your voice and be upset with you about injustice done to you, not at you for "being difficult". They will be happy when you find a way to live a better life, and help you to get there. If you are struggling, someone who loves you wants to see you smile, not tell you to smile because "you have it so good".
“They’re just looking for attention.”
Oh, a human being is seeking a social response? Human being, the social animal wired to make and track social connection? A human desires the vital blood that permitted their species to survive for millennia? The human being who was born completely helpless and primed in every way by nature to seek attention and help from their community?
Wow that’s crazy. How embarrassing. Humiliating even. Should we isolate them from community? Should we call Wire Mother?
this has gotta be the most perfectly shot and paced house tour I've ever seen
