Birthdays, Bull Rides, and Baked Goods
My birthday may have been on a Monday but that didnāt stop some badass people from celebrating it with me.
At work, Kitty baked me a pie. Nay, not just A Pie, she baked me a bourbon pecan pie. *gasp* I told her months ago that pecans were the nut of my people (Texan) and she obliged with bourbon-Michael-Phelps-pecans. Needless to say it was dagum delicious. Oh and quick background on Kitty- she bakes everything from scratch. Sheās hardcore.
Once home, I had just enough time to āsuit up!ā and drink a glass of champagne. Then it was off to Peterās Sushi Spot. Iāve had a lot of sushi in my day and so far Peterās is batting 400. (Iāll write a strictly sushi size up later so we donāt lose focus here.) We sat down to eat, drink, and be merry and it was amazing. A year ago I didnāt know anyone at the table and today we were laughing and conversing until we were blue in the face. Then Isaac unveiled the grand surprise he kept warning me not to snoop around for- an enormous two layer, cream filled, caramel-drizzled, snicker doodle cake. So. Damn. Delicious. From Midnight Sun Cakery. The best part was the giant sugar disc on top that read āHappy Birthday from your Breastest Friends.ā The Ladies really out did themselves this time. Not only did I not expect it, but it was the perfect gift! Last year I had to bake my cake AND eat it alone, but letās not talk about that birthday haha. They called me up as I was cutting the cake and it was a perfect harmony of my Texas loves and my Alaskan family.
Then it was off to the Gaslight pub. My favorite bar in town, not just because there is a mechanical bull, stripper pole, and three separate bars- no. The hoppinā jams provided by a legit DJ are what keep me going back. Though on a Monday night it was safe to say we def brought the party. More friends showed and I was bought a slew of drinks and shots including: a red headed slut, lemon drop, a Washington Apple, slippery nipple, Johnny Vegas, rumplemints, and a couple of good old G&Tās. Then I was made to ride the bull. Luckily this wasnāt this Texas galās first rodeo, ooooh no, but it would be the first time riding this beast in a dress. Needless to say, I jumped up on the bull with the most lady like grace I could muster and 58 seconds later I landed with that same grace. Gave a bow and thanked the high heavens there were no wardrobe malfunctions. I wasnāt alone in riding, Timely and Isaac both gave it a whirl, and of course bull operator man was a lot more realistic when they rode. There were a few drunk patrons that tried but they were soon disappointed when their cheering section wasnāt as outspoken as mine. Shout out to Krystal who was my DD for the evening (man Iām going to miss this when she has her baby).
At last the night was over, but not without watching the Terminator (original) and finishing off the champagne. I have a good feeling about 26.
