  “I try not to let it bother me because, honestly, it didn’t hinder my ability to get work regardless of whatever it is my agent seems to think,” Glimmer shrugged a little, smiling at Alex with something like admiration writer on her face. “You know, it’s a bit refreshing to meet a man who understands that women’s bodies are their own. That we shouldn’t have to look a specific way. You’re a good one, Alex Boyd,” she said happily, chuckling as he repeated her. “But I’ll thank you anyway! Hmm.. I think you make a good point there. Bad photos sell more copies than good ones.”

A wicked grin tugged her lips at his words and a hum slipped from her mouth, finger tapping her chin gently. “Actually, it’s kind of good for me considering—well, it’s a source of pride to be able to make someone blush in the first place—but you look quite adorable all red faced,” she told him with a matter of fact nod. “Well, we can just share the awkward—yeah? I’ll jabber on too much and you won’t say anything at all. Maybe we’ll even each other out at some point.”

A nod and she was looking around again, a gentle smile tugging up the corners of her lips as she observed his workspace. She’d heard that a  lot could be told about a person from that alone. “Oh, no. No. I don’t mind at all! Whatever the artist sees fit,” she beamed, turning around to him. “I like that.. that philosophy about the whole thing.”

“Precisely. Besides, as long as you can get work and your fans like you what difference does it make?” Alex smiled, looking to her as she spoke before grinning a little and shrugging. “I work with people all the time and I really don’t think that someone’s weight or the way they look makes my job any harder or easier. People should be themselves and personality comes through a lot more when they are happy with themselves over being a certain way for someone else.” He looked down for a moment before looking up at her. “A lot more people should think that way. But.. it’s annoying that it works that way. People want to see other people looking bad because it makes themselves feel better.”

He shook his head, looking down again and trying to hold in his embarrassment. “I don’t look adorable at all. I got the nickname Chameleon at school because of the fact I turn red so easily. But sharing the awkward sounds good. We can embarrass each other.”

He watched her as she looked around, smiling to himself. “I just think it’s nice to have a few different mediums to work with. Digital is easier, for me anyways. But I love working in the darkrooms..” He grinned as she turned to look at him before jumping a little as the alarm for the food sounded.  “Seems like food is ready. Shall we?”

  Pulling out his walking stick to help guide him, Callan also listened for Alex’s footsteps to assist. He hesitated at the mans question, most people didn’t notice his condition right away do his glass eyes. “I’m blind,” He said simply, kindly, hoping things wouldn’t get awkward.

“Oh, wow…” Alex turned to look at the man, feeling a little stupid that he hadn’t noticed. “I honestly… but your paining…” He paused for a moment before turning to look at Callan. “I don’t mean to sound so awkward but I’m honestly surprised. Your work is amazing.”

“Heck yes! Haven’t you seen this before?”

  Braiden chuckled for a moment and looked at the man’s face. “You sure you don’t want another coffee? I honestly don’t mind at all.” His eyes became sincere and he truly didn’t want the man to be upset.

“It was my fault, honest. I wasn’t watching where I was going and in all fairness, I have two left feet. I find it hard not to make a fool of myself.” He chuckled a little before looking up at the man again with a smile. “I’m Alex, by the way.”

Rock climbing || Alex & Emery

  Emery hurried over to the small wall the man was sitting on as she pulled her hair up into a ponytail, figuring that hair everywhere wouldn’t help you climb. “I’m sorry I am late. I didn’t let you wait for too long, did I?” she asked him. She hated being late and hated it when people came too late. But she was only a few minutes late and hadn’t gotten over the 15 politeness minutes.

"Shall we get inside and get our instructions?" Emery could barely stand still, she was excited to try out something new and tho the height sometimes scared her a little, she wouldn’t stop. "I can’t wait to try this out. I bet it’s amazing to be up there. Let’s just hope we are not gonna crash down for any reasons."

Alex smiled, running a hand through his hair before jumping down from the wall. “No worries at all. You aren't that late. I just tend to be overly punctual for things,” he chuckled, repositioning the bag on his shoulder. “I've really been looking forward to this. And it’s good to see you.”

He gave a nod, heading over to the doors and holding it open for her. “Let’s go. It should be good fun.” He headed inside, looking around as they walked through the foyer and headed towards the desk, turning to look at her. “It’s exciting to try new things. I just can’t promise I won’t injure myself. I'm really clumsy and I'm a little scared of heights.”

Rock climbing || Alex & Emery

Emery had been excited for a couple of days, actually ever since Alex agreed on going rock climbing with her. It was something she had never done in her life but she was excited to try it, hopefully with a good outcome.

They had agreed to meet at the climbing school where they’d get instructions and a short tryout. Emery was running a little late caused by her dog that didn’t want to be left home alone. Reaching the place they wanted to meet, parking her car and getting out. Already seeing Alex waiting, she waved at him as she headed over to him. “Hey!”

Alex got ready extra early, hating the idea of being late to anything, let alone having someone waiting for him. He had always enjoyed trying new things and rock climbing seemed like a fun idea.

He waited outside the climbing school after getting there almost a half hour early. He sat on the small wall, surrounding a small flower bed with his camera bag hooked over his shoulder. He tapped his heels against the brick work, looking around, hoping she hadn’t bailed on him when she didn’t turn up on time. A bright smile spread across his face when he saw her, giving a small wave in return. “Hey, Emery. You made it!”

  "Oh, I don’t want the half-finished painting," Callan shrugged, the easel folded up still in his in its case. "I don’t care, surprise me. Make me guess where we went after I get my food or something."

Alex nodded a little, heading down the street towards his favourite restaurant that wasn’t too far away. “Oh, I see. Yeah. But I guess it’s a shame. It was a really beautiful piece. “ He shrugged a little before turning to look at Callan. “Make you guess? Won’t you just know when we get outside and you see the place?”

      “Are you supposed to be back here?”

"I believe so. You are Brielle, right?" Alex smiled, putting out a hand to her. "I'm Alex. I was asked to take photos of your show."

A quick flick of his wrist and the potion was finished. Slowly filtering it into a vial, a bead of sweat rolled down his brow. Storing it safely in a box, he took off towards the local coffee shop. With a deep breath, he threw himself behind someone, stealthily removing the vial and pouring the concoction into the stranger’s cup. Taking a caramel lattee to the back of the store, he watched as the woman took a sip. A small chuckle escaped him as she slowly pulled slug after slug out of her mouth discreetly. As she threw them away, he marked the potion as a yes. Standing up to throw away his trash, he bumps into someone, throwing coffee everywhere. “Oh god.. I am so sorry. I’ll pay for a new coffee, that was so my fault.” He shoots an apologetic smile at the person.

Alex stumbled back a little, trying his best to stay on his feet despite the fact that he is a very clumsy person to start with. He looked up at the man before shaking his head a little. "No, it's fine. Accidents happen. Don't worry about it. " He straightened himself out, running his hands over his shirt.

  "Great, I’d love to get some food. I’m starved, give me just a moment to close up shop," Callan agreed, feeling down the easel to fold it up. Taking the canvas he had been working on, he just leaned against bench — walking away. "Ready?"

"Are you just leaving your things here?" Alex asked, looking over at the canvas. "But yeah, hey, I'm ready. Anywhere in particular you fancy?" He smiled, beginning to walk out onto the main street.

  Sighing, Callan thought — but a smile soon lit up his face. “Teach me how to photograph something beautiful then. That can be my payment,” Callan offered, raising his eyebrows. Waiting.

Alex smiled in delight at the idea. He'd never been asked to teach someone how to take photographs before but the idea really got him excited. "I think that sounds perfect. Would you like to go for a bite to eat? We can discuss the idea further."

     “Oh, really. He’s on my ass all the time about it—saying something about unflattering paparazzi shots. No joke. I’m pretty sure he has no couth whatsoever,” she laughed, giving a small shrug despite the fact that she wholly agreed with what he had to say. It was just a shame that the status quo seemed to be set in stone. “I think people should be themselves too. I realize that I’m not some stick figure, but I like that. My curves are pretty much natural. I really can’t do a thing about them. So I just ignore him when he tells me to work out,” she winked, her expression growing into a grin. “Well, thanks, Xander. I’m sure I could prove you wrong at some point, but I’d like for you to keep believing that.”

   She grinned at him, nudging him gently with her hip at his words. “Cute, huh? Well, I do try my best, but I think it can border on annoying when I get nervous or what I really get excited about something. Embarrassing, I’m.. embarrassing,” she laughed a little, stroking her fingers through her hair. “Never?!  Well, people have most certainly been slacking,” she nodded definitely. “You’re very welcome. Hopefully you’ll like them,” she nodded, taking the glass and nodding her thanks before sipping it carefully.

   Walking to the studio, looking around, smiling softly. “I wouldn’t have you sued, don’t worry. I trip over my own feet—I’d cover you,” she shrugged, setting her things down before taking a look around. “It’s great,” she smiled. “I can’t wait to get started.

“I wouldn’t let them get to you. No one should have to worry about stuff like that. If you’re happy the way you are, stick to your guns,” he told her, giving a small shrug. “I don’t think you need to change if that means anything to you. I really don’t see the big deal about people thinking girls would be tiny little things. Women should be allowed to look the way they want. If no one likes it, as you said last night. ‘Fuck ‘em’.” He chuckled, shaking his head. “No. Don’t thank me. I think it’s impossible for anyone to look terrible in photos. If the photographer is decent they should be able to capture your good side no matter what. Paparazzi set out in hopes of getting bad pictures of people.”

He let out a laugh as she nudged him, “Come on. I’m trying to keep my cool here. Don’t make me start blushing again. It isn’t good for anyone.” Alex shook his head, disagreeing with her opinion. “Well, I wouldn’t have thought that you could be annoying. And as far as embarrassing goes, between the two of us, I think I get that one. I can’t even talk to some people. I get too nervous and stutter like a crazy person.” He chuckled, looking up at her as she spoke. “Nope, I’ve never had homemade cookies made for me before by someone other than my mom. I’m sure I will enjoy them.”

“It would be appreciated but I don’t want you injuring yourself either, so just be careful, okay?” He gave her a smile before nodding to his cameras. “You don’t mind me taking a mix of digital and film do you? I prefer film but sometimes digital is easier to work with. I just feel that film is more….. I don’t know how to word it. It’s more precious. The idea of having the negative that can be damaged so easily…”

  Finally after a short wait outside the door had clicked in-front of her, striding in Victoria glanced down at the text with his address as she pushed the elevator button. By sheer luck the doors immediately slid open and hesitantly she pressed the floor number, out of habit she pulled her hand gel out again and rubbed a small bit between her palms. With a quiet buzz the lift came to a stop and the doors slid open in the clunky manner. She needn’t reference her phone again as one of the apartment doors directly in view from the lift was open.

Running a hand through her hair to push it from her face she approached her photographer a faint smile curving her lips, “well –– I assume you are my photographer for today”.  Offering a hand to him she continued, “as you already know I’m Victoria but please call me Vicky, I believe you are Alex Boyd right? The magazine told me that but unfortunately very little else.” They always tried so desperately to keep it all neat and formal however Victoria could care less for formalities that usually came with photoshoots. It was an entirely different matter for interviews but those were few and far between, and one must always present a professional view to the public. This wasn’t open to the public and thus Victoria would rather at least attempt to enjoy it than simply make stiff small talk all day.

“So go ahead show me to your studio, or atleast I’m assuming we will be shooting in studio today. Oh –– and I apologize in advance I’m not particularly the best model in the world, but I believe they just wanted photos of me in my Doctor’s coat so hopefully you can make up for my lack of experience”.

Alex waited by the door, smiling as he saw the elevator doors open and the blonde stepped out. He took her hand, giving her a firm handshake. “That would be me. It’s an absolute pleasure to meet you Vicky, and yes. I’m Alex.” He gave a nod, heading inside and held the door for her. “Yeah, magazines tend not to like giving too much information. You’re actually lucky they gave you a name. I’ve had people turn up not even knowing who I am.”

He lead her inside the apartment and through the living room to a room that he had made into his studio. The backdrop and lights were set up ready and there was a range of both digital and film cameras set out on a table beside his laptop. “This is my studio but we don’t necessarily have to stay in here if you don’t want too. They didn’t really give me much to work with other than they want you to look ‘natural’.” He smiled, turning back to look at her. “Would you like anything to drink? I think, if you wouldn’t mind and you have the time, I’d like to get to know you a little before we get started. I tend to find it’s easier to work with people when you know a little bit about them.”

“Don’t worry about it. I’m sure you’ll be just fine. I’m sure we will be able to get something they can work with. But like I said, if you’d like we could always head out into the city and get some shots. Sometimes it’s nice to have something a little different, you know?”

  "Whenever you’re free we can get a jump on our confidence lessons," he grinned, giving a nod and wrapping his arms across his chest. "Yeah, that’s probably true, to be honest. My dad was only around because he had a serious thing about working from home," he shook his head a little, still smiling. "I can imagine, yeah. It’s a good thing. Broadening your horizons," he gave a nod, chuckling a little. "I definitely get that. Definitely. Never was good at photography, though."

"I'm a photographer. I'm free pretty much twenty four hours a day unless I'm on a shoot somewhere." He laughed a little, shaking his head. "It is true. That's what parents are for. To try us ." He paused, listening to Finn as he spoke. "Oh, really? Did you give it much of a try or was it just point and click type of photogrpahy? he asked, trying not to come off as rude. "Photography has been a passion of mind since I was seven or eight. My parents bought me a camera and I just took it."

  Callan laughd, rubbing the back of his head. He’d never gotten quite so much attention when he painted at this park.”I’ve never sold anything before, but I would be interested, I guess. I’d prefer just giving you something, if you really wanted it. Its… my passion, so,” Callan trailed off, not sure what to do with the praise.

Alex smiled, looking over the paining again. "I couldn't let you give me a painting. As kind as that is I'd rather give you something in return." He paused for a moment, thinking. "I know how it is. I'm the same with my photographs. It may be a passion, Callan, but at the same time, we all need to eat at the end of the day."
