hack?
that’s just garlic confit
Seriously, anyone who didn’t know about how to make this didn’t have parents/relatives who cooked.
Y’all need to pick up a cookbook. Or watch Julia Child.
Sorry everyone didn’t grow up in a household where their caretaker cooker or knew how to cooked. Some of us didn’t grow up in a household with fresh fruits and produce. Some of us didn’t have the money to spend on a shit ton of garlic.
So how about enjoy the video instead of being a snobby bitch.
Guess what? I grew up in an area where people were poor. My family was poor. I know other people who grew up poor in cities and rural areas. Like me, they had to learn to cook because they couldn’t afford to buy prepared food or eat out, not even from the Dollar Menu at McDonalds, because there wasn’t a McDonalds.
We bought a bag of potatoes, a bag of onions, some margarine, eggs, a couple cans of Campbells Tomato Soup, a loaf of Wonder Bread, and we made fucking do. Sometimes, yeah, we bought garlic, if we lived near a store that sold garlic.
We went to the library to check out Betty Crocker’s Cookbook, and we watched Julia Child on PBS. We got ideas. We used our imaginations. We learned to cook since we were old enough to stand on a chair at the stove. Because we all had to. Sometimes an adult wasn’t around, so if we wanted to eat, we took an egg and slice of bread and tomato soup and got creative.
There’s nothing snobby about seeing someone in a middle-class kitchen bigger than my first apartment thinking it’s a “hack” to cook garlic.
It is snobby to look down on people for learning about techniques they haven't heard of or used before, regardless of your background.
When I was younger, we lived very frugally. My family is part Italian, so we knew how to cook with garlic. We still did not fucking make garlic confit, because that simply wasn't something any of us did. Because confit is French.
It's not even as simple as just "cooking garlic". Confit is a French technique, of cooking something low and slow in fat. Most people wouldn't think to do that with garlic. Most people just use it as an ingredient or seasoning, rather than think to cook it on its own. Even if someone unfamiliar with confit wanted to simply "cook garlic", it would take a lot of trial and error to come up with the same technique on their own, as there are literally hundreds of ways one could decide to cook garlic, so even in that case, having someone explain it to you is still helpful.
It costs $0 to stop looking down on people for learning something new.

I talked to a grown man who didn’t even know what s’mores were. I realized that all experiences are not universal.

I feel that if I don’t repost this somewhere every year at some point, I’m living my life incorrectly.
What is even..
Some backstory. In FFXIV, for a very short spurt of time, there was a glitch where the upper body of a model would lock and freeze in place while the rest would still perform animations from other emotes and attacks. The results were pretty incredible for those that could get the lock to happen.
It was quickly hot-fixed out, but not quickly enough for the above video to get made, un/fortunately.

This wouldn’t be even half as funny without the little “whuh~” the guy makes before he gets gatling slapped.
video games are big fans of *grunt of pain* as a token “hey bitch ur getting injured be careful” cue but i think there should be like, a 1 in a 1000 chance for the pc to scream “FUCK” really loud after taking damage
Postal 2 was a big fan of this. “Fuck!” “Augh, right in the stuff.”

I am in psychic agony that we didn’t get 202. What is it? Why do I love it so much?
why is it that whenever I am disillusioned with the world I go back to the epic of Gilgamesh
“It is the story of their becoming human together.”
This is it. This is the oldest written literary work that we know of, and it’s a story of becoming human together.
This is a story about love, and it’s a story about death, and we told this story thousands of years ago, THOUSANDS of years. We have always, always, always been wrestling with this profoundly beautiful existence and with knowing one another, while knowing that we all will die and be forgotten.
We become human by loving, but we also become human by knowing death.
And I’m just sitting here touching other human beings, another human experience, from across millennia, feeling a bit more human too through it, and I am trying very hard not to cry.
I nearly wept in a Detroit science museum planetarium show because the adorable host mentioned she thought that by polluting the sky with excess city light we were cutting ourselves off from seeing the same stars the ancients did.
hey does anyone remember orbit mist gum? it had like little bits of something in it and one of the flavors was watermelon and it was great and i loved it and they discontinued it in 2013
It probably isn’t like. Especially good but I remember it very vividly because I bought it all the time when I was 12 or so and I was really angry when they discontinued it
I had the same problem with 5 Gum’s Elixir flavor which was apparently berry but kinda tasted like Tomatoes, I loved it and they discontinued it, the fuckers.
