How to use self-hypnosis for shifting (as a hypnotist)
1)Test your suggestibility
Before any hypnosis, it’s helpful to know your level of suggestibility. This doesn’t measure whether you’re “strong or weak,” but simply how your brain responds to suggestions.
1️⃣Type “suggestibility test” on YouTube
2️⃣Try a simple test (magnetic fingers, heavy arms, etc.)
3️⃣ Notice whether you are low, medium, or highly suggestible
→ This will help you choose the right tools later.
2)Adapt according to your suggestibility profile
If your suggestibility is medium to high, you’ll find it easier to enter trance and integrate new beliefs.
-> If it’s low, no worries:
-practice more relaxation
-build up trust step by step
Hypnosis is a lot about repetition and openness.
If your reciptivity is really low you can listen to a guided meditation to relax before your sessions.
3)Clarify what You want to assume or understand
- Write down exactly what you want to assume
-Write down what you want to understand about yourself
→ e.g. “I want to assume that I can shift,” “I want to understand why I’m blocked.” or anything that you wanna know or believe.
The clearer your goal, the more effective your session will be.
4)What Is a hypnotic trance?
It’s not sleep. It’s not magic. It's natural.
Hypnotic trance = an altered state of consciousness where:
- your critical mind rests
-your subconscious becomes more open
- your imagination takes the lead
This state is perfectly natural (like before you fall asleep, or driving on “autopilot”).
It's not dangerous and you don't loose control.
5)How to use trance to reprogram your mind
-> In trance, your beliefs can become more flexible.
It’s the moment to plant new suggestions:
-visualize your DR as already real
-calmly repeat your affirmations
-feel emotions of safety and confidence, like this calm i'm already here feeling
→ This imprints the information more deeply than in your regular waking state. It is therefore easier to create and reinforce beliefs or assumptions.
You can also use subliminals during the session, the subconscious is more open, the subliminals become even more effective.
6)Using imagination as a tool
Imagination is like the native language of your subconscious.
-You can create vivid mental images
-imagine symbols that represent your transformation
-play with sounds, colors, sensations
→ The richer your imagination, the more your subconscious will “stick” to the suggestion.
If you have little or no imagination, focus instead on gentle and comforting affirmations linked to an emotional state.
7)Exploring your blockage in trance
Hypnotic trance is also a tool to explore your resistance and your blockage:
-You can question your emotions
- observe without judgment
-symbolically ask “what is blocking me?”
→ Often, images or memories or even sensations will surface, and you can process them more easily afterward.
9)Your subconscious Is YOU
Many people think the subconscious is a kind of “dark force” that sabotages everything but it's just you.
That’s false: your subconscious is a part of you, trying to protect you and maintain your identity’s coherence.
- it stores your habits, fears, automatic patterns
- it doesn’t judge, it just applies
- it prioritizes safety above all
Working with it = working with YOURSELF, not against you.
9)How does the subconscious work in hypnosis?
👉 In hypnosis, you temporarily set aside the rational part (the critical faculty) to access your subconscious more directly.
→ This makes your affirmations, images, and suggestions more powerful.
- Emotions can act as an amplifier
- and the repetition stabilizes the changes
→ That’s why gentle, regular practice is so important in Hypnosis.
10)Self-Hypnosis: how to use It?
You can induce hypnotic trance on your own:
- by focusing on breathing (coherent breathing, box breathing)
- by using guided audios (YouTube has plenty)
-by reading a script slowly, like a story
→ That may be enough to open the door to suggestibility.
If you’re a beginner, I recommend a guided video with a soft and progressive voice.
You can listen to this kind of video for example.
11)Reprogram or release blockage with self-Hypnosis
Once you are in hypnotic trance :
- set a clear intention (e.g. “I release my fear of not shifting”
-imagine that fear as an object moving away
-replace it with a positive image (e.g. a sun shining through you)
✅ replace it with a positive image (e.g. a sun shining through you)
→ Repeat this several times, gently, to offer your subconscious a safer alternative.
12)Consistency matters more than perfection
Don’t try to be a “perfect hypnotist.” this doesn't exist
Small daily practice > one big practice once a month
Even 5 minutes of calm visualization or self-hypnosis each evening can transform how you relate to your mind and can help you calm you down or entirely change.
