CATALYST / 70x100cm. Dedicated to my mother. A catalyst is generally referred to as something that speeds up a reaction or chemical result. This piece deals with the start or origin of all nurture, knowledge and creativity and how it is passed on to a future generation. From the beginning to the end the initial spark always influences future actions.

The first in a continuing series of work based on my watercolour studies. As an artist I'm looking at the fields of science, mathematics and biology and finding the duality in theories that apply to themes of growth, behavior, emotions commonly experienced personally as well as within global context. I'm using expressive abstraction to visually translate the research and emotions of personal and societal themes into each piece. The is the first series which uses paper collage for the execution.
