❗️COMIC COVERS! WIP ones, at least.❗️

The first one is a rebrand of the first comic. I want there to be a degree of seperation between "Lonely Heart Bounty Hunters" as a whole, and this specific story within it, so Im gonna re-release it under "LHBH presents SEPERATION RESTORATION." Will probably touch up the comic too, maybe release it in more parts to see if that gets engagement lol.

Second cover is the WIP for the second issue. Not married to the idea (doesnt really resemble the first one) but I do like the idea. Also, Ive been slowly working on issue two! Turnaround won't be as fast as the first issue on account of it not being dome for a class, but I WILL make it this year! Might even be before the summer, who knows! 👀

Finally, PLEASE leave a comment if you wanna see more! I'll always do this cause I love it, but the truth is that I feel more motivated to post in places where I get engagement. Don't be shy! Hell, Im always open to critisism too!

I enjoy how most sidequests in Silksong consist of Hornet being genuinely helpful while insisting she's doing it for self-interested reasons, and then the whole Plasmium/Lifeblood thing is just "okay, this guy is 100% going to die if I keep enabling him, but let's see where he's going with this."

genre fiction is fascist. the only ideologically pure fiction is slice-of-life with no plot.

any book with more than one sex scene is erotica

romance novels encourage women to have unrealistic fantasies, like “having enjoyable sex” and “being apologized to”

describing a female character’s body for any reason, even during a sex scene where her love interest’s body is described too, means you’re a gross male writer who doesn’t understand women

if the protagonist is an anti-hero or morally gray, each chapter should have a disclaimer detailing all of said protagonist’s moral failings

If a character was ever shown as a minor, allowing that character to have sex as an adult is exactly equivalent to child porn

If a female character is under 5'4", she’s child-coded, and therefore your work is potentially child porn even if she’s not shown in sexual situations

The death of any character who is queer falls under “kill your gays” and is not allowed. (Actual example– “they should have changed the ending to Bohemian Rhapsody.”)

The death of any character who is a woman is “fridging”

The death of any character who is another minority is “the expendable brown person”

Any close relationship between two people of the same gender is “queerbaiting” (also includes “not referring to two explicitly agender beings in a queer-platonic relationship as men that fuck”)

Any cishet character who has a gender-nonforming personality trait, a personality trait that is found attractive by members of the same sex, or, for that matter, has any qualities that queer people can relate to is “queerbaiting”

- Stating your characters race is racist.

- Writing a black father concerned about how the influence the majority white area he lives in may be affecting his son? Racist toward white people?

if you don’t have a reason for a character to be black/PoC (as in, for a “message”) then they shouldn’t be.

if you don’t have a reason for a character to be queer, as in to teach a “message”, then they shouldn’t be and it’s just pointless platforming.

writing in anything other than Standard American English is lazy writing, and you need to switch that to “proper” grammar (to my book that has a lot of AAVE because that’s how the characters speak!)

dialogue and inner moments are stupid pointless filler, everything should be active movement towards the climax

I had someone accuse me of creating a “false utopia” in a comment on a softcore smut series of mine because I refused to include underage characters even in an offscreen capacity. I feel like they had at least one of these opinions

@bethanythebogwitch that’s super interesting because the concept of ‘children do not exist here’ is, in my reading experience, an expressly -dystopian- one (Children of Men by PD James, Soylent Green (the film not the book), Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Kurt Vonnegut, Pop Squad by Paolo Bacigalupi…)

I of course presume that you weren’t writing a bleak ‘humanity is doomed’ story if it was softcore smut, but rather some version of

I feel like all of this only started happening in fanfiction culture before slowly leaking out into other social circles. We used to make fun of this in the early 2000s because it only, *only* got that bonkers in comments on fanfic, never ever in reviews of published literature that we ever found.

People who get into fanfiction as kids seem to depend on it as such deeply personal escapism, projecting things so dark and dire onto the characters, that they end up miring themselves completely in a very warped private bubble where their preferred comfort fiction is the very model of their world view and moral compass, completely unprepared to process anything else from any other perspective if they aren’t broken out of that bubble.

It’s the literary version of being raised feral by a pack of wolves, except it’s not nearly as cool.

People have a weird need to perfectly label things. Like, if they cant justify why something is perfectly okay, then they're tantamount to bystanders during the Nazi takover or something. And its specifically that THEY have to be able to justify it, like all their opinions are gonna be publicly scrutinized. They dont have the confidence to go "seems fine to me, i dont think theres a problem here," so they go on these big spiraling tangents about proving whats "objective," and get lost in the sauce.

I remember being on Tumblr pre-porn-ban. I left for Twitter because I was tired of the discourse (crazy right?), but then a couple months later they all migrated there anyways. And cause Twitter was ultimately much more mainstream, I think thats how this line of thinking infected modern culture tbh. Who knows though right?
