On the one hand this is fucking ridiculous. On the other hand I cannot say I wouldnāt do it myself if I could.

The first Asian nation to do so š³ļøāšš³ļøāšš³ļøāš
me: humanity is awful i canāt believe this there is no goodness or love
me: life is ok actually and i have a reason to live
Twenty minutes ago same-sex marriage became legal in Taiwan.
š³ļøāšWe are witnessing history as my country becomes the first one in Asia to grant everyone the right to marry who they love, regardless of gender.

you think you want me to shut up? i have to listen to myself even when im not talking
slow-burning gay romance in a story which isnāt itself primarily about being gay. characters must be middle-aged and sort of boringly domestic. cooking and home decorating should be involved.Ā
i was teaching my grandma to use computer so we can talk on skype and such but today she went kinda mad at me because āi didnt show her the knitting programmeā and i was like what
and it comes out she accidentally opened ms excel and found out its a great way to create knitting patterns
my grandma is 82
The street finds its own uses.
āYes, being in a female dominated field, I do know what it means to be marginalized. ā
oh
my
god
omg
oh my fucking god
The really ugly part is theyāve actually done multiple sociological studies on this, and guess what the result is? Men in female-dominated fields arenāt marginalized at all; they get special treatment and are fast-tracked to the top, getting more credit for their work, faster promotions, and greater pay and benefits than their female colleagues.
Hereās one study. Hereās another. And another.

When her kiss transforms the Beast, she is furious. āYou should have warned me! Here I was smitten by an exceptional being, and all of a sudden, my fiance becomes an ordinary distinguished young man!ā
the 1909 playĀ Beauty and the Beast: Ā Fantasy in Two ActsĀ by Fernand Noziere, the very first published version of the story where the Beauty is disappointed when the Beast transforms into a human at the end. (via corseque)
I always think itās weird when people are embarrassed by baby picturesĀ
being all oh no my momās bringing out my baby pics this is the worstĀ
but Iām like I peaked as a baby. that was my cutest self. Iām never gonna top that letās only look at baby pictures for the rest of my life please
I just left my husband alone with our two children for sixteen days. I was not worried about anything regarding the house, their food, or their wellbeing. I put all the appointments in the family calendar and my husband checked it and kept them. I literally did not worry about them. I missed them, and I was sad that they missed me, but I didnāt worry about them AT ALL. I need to impress upon you all that I missed their company, but was not worried for their welfare.
I also did no meal prep. I donāt even think I went shopping right before I left.
This is not about apples and oranges. This isnāt even about my husband. This is about the fact that this is apparently WEIRD.
Another mum at my daughterās school is leaving for ten days. Sheās taking her youngest (who is a very small baby) and leaving her husband with their two girls. She has been cooking for days preparing freezer meals. Sheās panicking and deputizing her six year old to remind him how to make school lunches. AND I AM APPALLED.
A) He is definitely not helpless. (Heās a doctor or something.) What gendered bullshit. B) THAT LITTLE GIRL IS NOT OLD ENOUGH TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR HER AND HER SISTERāS WELLBEING. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. C) Why is she married to this person and creating children with him if heās this big of an idiot?
While she was laughingly recounting this, the other mums were nodding and smiling sympathetically, like oh yes, I too have my caveman at home!! Such managing required! I was the only one who was like āDude, heāll be fine. Literally. He will be fine.ā I said it a lot. She was not convinced. She kept bringing up her older daughter. Sheāll be like a little mum!
NO.
NO NO NO NO.
NO.
Straight women, donāt do this shit. Itās gross. Donāt infantilize your husbands and then expect your daughters to pick up the slack. So fucking gross. So. So. GROSS.
The fact that so many adults think a six year old girl is more capable of learning and performing basic domestic tasks than a grown-ass man says it all, really.Ā
Right alongside this, can we stop calling Dad watching the kids ābabysitting,ā like itās not expected that fathers actually parent? Men are not idiots. If he is, donāt marry him/have kids with him.
My dad isnāt a great cook, and my mom has done the āfreeze meals ahead of timeā thing, but thatās it. He knows how to heat food up, he can do his own laundry, and he was totally fine taking care of my brother and I when Mom was away. Mom never panicked, thinking he couldnāt be an actual parent. Ever.
Coolest thing Iāve seen today.
coolest dad
look I have nothing against Brie Larson as a person or an actor but her casting feels like an undeniable result of the cultural fixation with Women Under Thirty
okay so I fired this off on my phone just as a thought but let me elaborate on this a little:
Carol Danvers is a Colonel in the US Air Force.
Even if we accept that Carol was promoted at younger age than most, that kind of promotion doesnāt come lightly. According to military-ranks.org (a website that I have no reason to question):
By law, colonels must have twenty-two years of service and a minimum of three years of service as a lieutenant colonel. Most colonels spend three years as a lieutenant colonel before being promoted.
I think itās pretty widely established that Carol joined the Air Force as soon as she was 18, which would place her squarely at age 40 after the minimum 22 year service, assuming she got promoted as soon as she was eligible.
What Iām getting at here is that, unless the Marvel Cinematic Universe is stripping Carol of her illustrious military history, thereās no damn reason for her to played by a 26 year old. At all.
⦠Unless they think a woman in her forties has no business being a superhero, in which case Iād like to direct your attention to Jeremy Renner (cast as Hawkeye at 40), Ben Affleck (Batman at 43), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man since age 44), and Paul Rudd (debuting as Ant-Man at forty-fucking-six).
Listen to me. Listen. Women over forty are badasses. ¾ of the new Ghostbusters cast are women in their 40ā²s. Ming-Na Wen is kicking asses and taking names all over Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. at 52. Those old ladies from Mad Max: Fury Road - including Megan Jaffer, whoās 78 - did their own fucking stunts.Ā
There Is No Expiration On Women Being Awesome.
Hereās the story behind that amazing Google doodle from Thursday
If you think Walt Disney was the first person to create a feature length animated film youāre wrong. The first person to do it was a woman ā Lotte Reiniger. See more about how her silhouette stop motion worked.
