She’s been in contact with her fair share of grumps during her volunteer work. Many simply took fliers only to throw them away in the trashcan a mere four paces from where she resides, while others verbally assaulted her and the cause. Elizabeth has never really cared for either of those beings, but the ones who discredit her work? Instances like those are where all traces of the moniker Lady leave her body. That’s why she greets everyone with a smile, slightly sympathetic to the fact a slightly annoying obviously over-peppy stranger has just approached them, begging for donations to a cause they most likely care nothing about. When she approaches the blonde, it’s evident that they would rather be anywhere else, but Elizabeth has a job to do.
“Well you see,” She begins, flipping over the pamphlet to a group photo of the shelter’s volunteers, pointing to herself. “I promote for the work I personally do. Myself alongside ten other volunteers are the ones doing everything from running into busy traffic to save kittens who’ve somehow wandered in there to paying for the shelter’s supplies out of our own pockets.” Elizabeth explain, her tone soft in an effort to receive the most empathy. She may slightly be stretching the truth, but she’s sure someone rescuing pets during heavy traffic has happened somewhere. “Which is why I’m here today, in hopes that you’ll deem us a meaningful cause and spare a donation of no more than five dollars. What d'ya say?”
As Elizabeth mentioned the part about intervening traffic to save kittens, Alice chuckled in amusement; Alice assumed it was a hyperbole, but she couldn’t be certain: There truly are dedicated, animal-loving people in the world, who’d gladly sacrifice their own life for one of their furry friends.
During the woman’s explanation, Alice pondered about the things she had to say. Supporting people who rescue pets isn’t that bad of an idea; especially since Alice has gotten her pet cat from an animal shelter and was aware, that those institutions needed all of the support they could get.
After Elizabeth was done speaking, Alice mumbled a: »Alright, Alright« , and rummaged through her bumbag, pulling out her wallet: »I can offer you three dollars and ten British pence.« She said in an almost apologetic tone, holding up the little money in her hand. »Does that help you somehow?«
