ELIZABETH DEARÂ from LADY & THE TRAMP // AGE: 20Â // GENDER ID: Cis Female
Born to a pair of struggling journalists in the middle of nowhere, a life of seclusion was what Elizabeth was supposed to live. With parentâs that possessed a mindset that love is worth more than money, it seemed as if the Decker family hadnât a worry in the world. A lack of concern for the trivial things in life, the Deckers were happy. The were the epitome of a flawless family with an adorable bubbly baby and two artistically-inclined parents. How then was the perfect life ripped out of the tiny hands of a one year old baby? With no warning at all, her parents vanished, not leaving a single trace to their whereabouts. Baby Elizabeth found her way to the doorstep of the wealthiest family in town, only days following her first birthday. Her placement there was no coincidence, but no one could understand how she managed to make her way over ten miles across the town alone without a single person noticing. Residents of Hermosa concluded it mustâve been her parents who placed her there prior to running away from everything theyâve ever known. It was pure luck that she was discovered by the familyâs dog minutes before freezing to death in the December cold. The child came with nothing but a blanket wrapped around her small frame and a note with her name and address on it. Â Though countless police investigations were set in place for the missing Decker family, none came to any avail. It was almost as if theyâve been erased from society, nothing left of the couple but a child with their last name.
Her newfound family considered her a gift to Jim and Darling Dear â the householdâs newly weds whoâve made it widely known theyâve had issues with conceiving. Not long after the family found Elizabeth was she adopted and raised to be a Dear. Never once did she question the fact she looked nothing like her family as she played alongside her pale skinned blue eyed cousins, nor did she ever raise an eyebrow to the nanny that pampered her and the rest of the Dear children. Besides, living in the lap of luxury surely had its perks. Every other month her family would take foreign vacations to the most extravagant of locations. A boat ride in the Bahamas shortly followed by a shopping trip organized by a personal assistant in Paris, old money ran deep in the Dearâs estate. But who were they to complain? Elizabeth was raised to know herself of nothing other than Dear blood. It wasnât as if Jim and Darling wanted to keep the first year of her life as a secret, but telling a child that their actual parents disappeared is never easy. They planned to keep things that way until Elizabeth and her cousins stumbled upon old newspapers in the attic, including the specific details of her parentâs mysterious departure. For the second time in her short sixteen years, Elizabethâs entire world had been flipped upside down. It was then she began to ask more questions. The once quiet, obedient, girl wouldnât shut up, and rightfully so.
Eventually, she received all the answers she desired. Elizabeth visited the home of her birth parents, expecting more than the abandoned rustic style cabin that she was met with. She was able to acquire a few photos of the Decker couple, once used for the investigation that still remains unsolved. She was told that there were no more Deckers left, as her parents were the last of the name. Every question she asked was responded to, so why did she still feel so confused?
Still, Elizabeth had a life to live. She graduated high school as one of the top students in her class and continued into college, where the adjustment was easier than she thought. Liz continued to reside at home, as her school expenses were much cheaper if she only paid for the gas to make the short drive. After almost four years of insanity, finding things out about herself she never knew possible, her life was finally beginning to go back to normal â whatever that word means. But alas, another bump in her already deranged road would be thrown in. Her parents, previously declared infertile by doctors all over, were now expecting. The youngest member of the Dear family was going to have a sibling almost two decades her junior.
With the birth of James Dear, Elizabeth and the rest of the Dear family were ecstatic. Theyâve always loved children, as Liz can recall the fond memories of pinched cheeks by grandparents and what seemed like hundreds of relatives present for birthday parties. However, this birth was different. Instead of staying by their newborn childâs side for the first few monthâs of his life, they left. An indefinite trip to China is what she was told they took, and for the time being, Elizabeth and James were to move in with their Aunt Sarah and her identical twin daughters. Twenty year old Elizabeth initially saw no problem with it at first, considering she spent most of her time at school or busy with work. However, an aunt that sheâs never exchanged more than a few words with and cousins doting large eyes that seriously creep her out have practically made it their life missions to make every one of Elizabethâs days a living hell. Itâs safe to say theyâve succeeded in doing a damn good job at doing so. Sure, her parents always kept a watchful eye on her as a child, but allowed her to do what she pleased as an adult. Yet as she resides in the estate of Aunt Sarah, Liz is almost positive her twin daughters have been purposefully messing with her belongings just to get her in trouble. In all honesty, sheâs just surprised she hasnât been left to sleep outside like a dog by now.
The Tramp â Heâs not like you at all, is he? He comes from a world with no restraints; with no leash around his neck to tie him down anywhere â or to anybody. Sure, he might not have a place to call home, or people to call family; but he has something which you never have thought about possessing: experience. Heâs done it all and been through it all, and all of it he went through relying only on his wit and cunning. Heâs always been the one for adventure; but now, he plans to bring you along with him. Are you up to it, sheltered one?
Jim and Darling Dear â Oh, how they love you. You may not be their biological child, but theyâve never withheld any affection from you. From your childhood to your grown up years, youâve only known their love and care. But everythingâs changed, hasnât it? They have a new favorite now; someone new to dote over and protect â and that someone is not you. You bear no jealousy for their new favorite, but you canât help but wonder what it is in them that your parents cannot find in you?

The Creator has yet to see you in action. Itâs no accident that your path has crossed that of one of his favorites. Youâre a curious character to him â one that isnât all too common in Hermosa. You walk with grace and class; yet bear an innate ferocity and determination once your loved ones are involved. He canât wait to see you break out of your shell, though; and it would be most prudent not to keep him waiting. After all, you may not know it now, but the person whom youâve thanked for your indulgent life might just wipe you right off the picture if you keep him waiting any longer.
