“isaac deleted otis’ voicemail” yeah, and otis publicly humiliated maeve, spent the better part of a season waffling between maeve and ola, and abandoned eric to spend time with maeve when he could have been seriously hurt. but otis apologized for all of those things, and he was forgiven, by the other characters and by the fandom. otis and ruby shippers love him despite him basically using ruby to try to get over maeve. but isaac deletes otis’ voicemail, gives maeve a heartfelt and sincere apology, and even steps out of the way so maeve can figure out her feelings for otis, and the fandom still hates him. this is in spite of isaac having clearly learned from the experience, having been there for maeve in her personal life and understanding her the way no one else does, making maeve smile and laugh and feel safe, championing her dreams at every opportunity, and giving us what is hands down the most beautiful love scene in the show so far.
i don’t hate otis. my point is that he and isaac both have flaws as characters and as love interests. when otis shows remorse for his mistakes and maeve forgives him, his relationship with ruby is still widely shipped by a sizeable portion of the fandom (despite ruby and isaac both filling the exact same narrative role as romantic false leads for the inevitable otis and maeve endgame). but isaac shows remorse for his mistakes, maeve forgives him, and the fandom still gives otis and ruby all the fic, all the vids, and all the praise where maeve and isaac comparatively have almost nothing (major props out there for the maeve x isaac content creators who are out there).
it’s almost as if there’s one major difference between otis and isaac that would cause the fandom to ignore/hate him that no one really wants to acknowledge. that’s probably because most of them were the same people posting shit like “otis throw isaac” or worse. you all are so transparent, it’s not even funny.
