Learning Curve
This project has been a massive learning curve for me in terms of myself and working with other people. Number one rule is the only person you can fully count on is yourself. In almost every team there seems to have been one individual often left with a lot to do, this seems more apparent at the end of the project. I think this is as individual team members have got distracted by their own reports and started to forget that this is a team project. Iâve certainly felt that I havenât been able to put enough time into my individual report because Iâve been so busy trying to get everything sorted for the event itself, and not always felt supported by all Pixel team members along the way.
You definitely have to say everything 1000 times. I certainly felt over this project one thing Iâve always been strong at is presentations. This is why I am confident to clearly execute information to different groups, team leaders and my team members. However, when information isn't passed on by the people it should have been, people like somewhere to place to blame. I wish if members of the class had been unsure, that they understood I was approachable enough to just drop me a message and id be more than happy to re-explain anything anyone was unsure of. I think members of different teams should also be aware people talk and in a project as big as this, what you say doesnât normally stay in private and wonât be forgotten.
I need to learn to be assertive. I'm confident in what I know I have or haven't said, what I've confirmed and not confirmed. Definitely going forward if I was in an authoritative role I would not let people question me as much and sway my decisions. There were too many times where I was trying to keep everyone happy and should have simply gone with my gut.Â
