Roger stands in front of the kitchen sink inside of the cabin he and, Leatherhead had been staying in for a while now. Ever since the spell Raven had casted on Roger, he had been a lot happier and had completely forgotten all of those horrible things that had happened.
Leatherhead was happy to see Roger finally back to normal, he was able to leave Roger to do his own thing for a while whilst he did some work on the device that AJ had given him for Christmas a while back.
Roger yawns a little as he grabs a plate to wash, he and Leatherhead had just had lunch not too long ago. Roger had decided to do the dishes to let Leatherhead get to his work. Besides, it was giving him something to do until he felt like drawing or going for a small hike.
As Roger focused on cleaning the plate, a voice whispered to him “Never….escape…me….” this caused the young lizard to drop the plate into the sink, turning around to see who was talking to him “…H-Huh? th..there’s no one here….” he thought to himself before shaking it off “Might just be tired.” he then picked up the plate to finish cleaning it when he saw something appear on the tap, an older looking lizard.
Roger turns around again, grabbing a knife as he did so but…once again there was nothing there…
Roger looks around before placing the knife on the countertop, his heart had began to beat a bit faster as he looked around then carefully began walking around the lower half of the cabin.
He could see nothing….no older lizard….no other voices…nothing. He lets out small sigh of relief not seeing anything “Definitely tired….” he muttered before he decides to head into the downstairs bathroom to wash his face.
Roger fills the sink in the bathroom with cold water then grabs a handful of it then splashes the water in his face, he does this a couple times until he felt more awake. He reaches for a towel then quickly dries his face before he stands up to face the mirror in front of him.
In the mirror that same face he saw earlier was standing, he smirks at Roger “You….can….never escape me, my son.”
Roger’s eyes widened as he stares at the lizard in the mirror, he looks behind himself but didn’t see anything but when he looked back at the mirror he could still see the lizard.
“…Wh-Who….” Roger started to say but was interrupted
“King Dayne….your father….your BIRTH father. I’m the one that is behind the reason you lost your eye….why you are here…” Dayne smirked
Roger’s hands trembled a little as he stared at the mirror, he was starting to remember it….all that happened to him….the nightmares….everything. Why was it coming back?
“N-No…y-you…” Roger grabs his head as the painful memories came back to him causing him to drop to his knees as he began sobbing softly. All that pain…all the horrific things he’d done….
“That little spell the bitch did was always going to fail….sooner or later….” Dayne smiled “You can never be rid of me…..you’re becoming just like me. You’re going to kill your family….tear them limb from limb….burn them…use your powers to annihilate them…”
Roger whimpers and sobs, he knew it was true….he knew that he would become like…him.
Roger closed his eyes and held his head, trembling slightly. King Dayne could be heard by Roger laughing uncontrollably “You are going to be like me. You are going to destroy this planet….rule others.”
Roger forces himself to stand up to look into the mirror, his legs were shaking, tears dripped onto the bathroom counter as he forced himself to look into the mirror “N…No…” he takes a deep breath “No…No more living in fear of what could happen….or what may never happen. No more living in fear of what happened to me.” Roger wipes the tears from his face, it quickly being replaced by anger “I…AM NEVER GOING TO BE LIKE YOU…I AM NOTHING LIKE YOU!!” Roger screams before slamming his fist into the mirror with enough force to shatter it.
King Dayne disappears from the mirror as the glass drops to the ground, Roger’s fist was bloodied and scratched up but…he did it…he was able to force himself to realise he would never be anything like that horrible King.
