“This?” he asked, looking at the stand holding his book. “It’s honestly just.. a few plants. My friend, Ivy, makes me these whenever I need them.. To hold the books so it’s easier to turn the pages.”

“Real plants? That’s interesting.”

He nodded again. “Yeah. I literally just set foot here.”

“So, why are you here?”

Noah nodded in agreement. “It certainly is. I just got here and I’m already interested!”

She gave him a small and somewhat shy smile. “Really?”

“The, uh, the school,” Noah said, unaware that someone had been listening. “I was.. talking to myself, but I said the school’s really cool.”

“Oh.” she nodded. “Yes, it’s...interesting.”

“Well as a teacher, I wouldn’t be very good at my job if I didn’t want you all to succeed, would I?” he asked “My first language is Italian, actually”

“You’re very good at it. What does it sound like?”

“Thank you, it means a lot. Really? What’s your first language?”
