“William and Kate raised the roof with a hilarious version of You’re The One That I Want from Grease. With William dressed in a black tuxedo and bow tie and Kate wearing her stunning strapless white evening dress, they strutted and sang their way through the John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John classic. Guests were on their feet whooping, clapping and cheering as the beaming newlyweds let their hair down – and showed off fun-loving personalities. One bleary-eyed guest – who left the party at 3.15am – said:
‘The Grease number brought the house down. They stood holding hands in the middle of the dance floor grinning, then suddenly the opening bars of the song came booming out. The reaction was just brilliant. Everyone started clapping to the music. Will and Kate began dancing around, pointing at each other and mouthing the words. It was hilarious. When the song finished, they ended up in each other’s arms with massive smiles on their faces. Everyone was cheering wildly, whooping and they did a bow to each other.’”
Ok so disclaimer: This is a post about my opinions about this week. I'm basing it on things that I've read and/or seen. I'm not claiming any truthfulness but I'm claiming ownership of what I write here. Deal with it.
I honestly thought that this whole debacle was gonna end after Henry and Meghan decided to leave the RF. Then after that, I thought it was gonna end with their big business announcement with Spotify and Netflix. Then, I thought it would end after Finding Freedom extraordinaire was published. Then I thought it would end after she won the case against the MoS (gotta say that petition of writing an apology in the same font as they run the story made me laugh so baaaaaaaaad. That's the type of petty I want to achieve). And then the Oprah confirmation hit. Now, I want to say it was a confirmation because I've known for a while this was in the making, the news of this cooking for two years wasn't a surprise for me but, as many other things I've heard over the years, this was something I didn't want to be true. But that's another story.
I'm gonna talk about the Oprah interview so here we go:
Kate made Meghan cry. I think that the way that Meghan said it was really interesting because she said it happened and she forgave her. It's not surprising and we've talked about this a million times already that they would have a better relationship than William and Henry, the way they navigated that rift, that did happen, is as gracious as it can be. However, the thing I don't like is that her name was dropped several times (even the term W*ity Katy) and that's just a no no. Especially because William was not even that talked about. I get it why she mentioned her and I loved the validation she gave me of the fact that if someone loves her, they don't have to hate Kate and if they love Kate, they don't have to hate her and that's AS VALID AS THE AIR WE BREATHE but also it's not like they didn't know Kate would be a target of bullshit things if her name was being dropped. The proof of that is the dozens of anons I've gotten demonizing Kate.
Archie not being a Prince. Ok this is royalty 101 and for those who don't know how that works, here we go: it's not that they didn't let him have a title or they were not letting him be a prince. According to a letters patent, only the children of the Eldest son of the Prince of Wales would have a princely title and a treatment of HRH. That's according to the line of succession. Meghan mentioned that when Charles is King, Archie will be entitled to be a Prince and that's true but also she forgot to mention that Archie is entitled to use his father's sub title, Earl of Dumbarton. Archie IS the Earl of Dumbarton, as well as baby girl is entitled to be Lady ____________ Mountbatten Windsor, just like Edward and Sophie's kids. She did't mention why they're not letting Archie use that title, which like she said, it's his birth right.
About Archie not having security. He would have security because of his father, who is 6th in line, was gonna have security. But Archie was gonna be 7th in line to the throne. Back in 2011, Eugenie and Beatrice got their Scotland Yard security removed because they weren't working royals. At that time were 5th and 6th in line. Archie was gonna be hardly above that place in line and if they wanted security for him, they had to pay for it, just as Andy Pandy piece of shit payed for Eugenie and Beatrice's security privately.
About Archie's skin colour: FUCK ANYONE THAT HAD THAT CONVERSATION WITH BOTH OF THEM AND HONESTLY I'M MAD AS FUCK.
The fact that she accepts that she didn't know what she was getting herself into, I appreciate the validation that I'm getting from her about the fact that she wasn't ready (and you know I've said it a million times already, y'all just didn't want to listen) but honestly, HONESTLY, this is all on HIM. I've said this already for the past four years, but SERIOUSLY, GUYS, HE TOLD HER HOW TO CURTSY IN THE MOTHERFUCKING CAR, GIVE ME A FUCKING BREAK. Of course a lot of the things she did wasn't the best but that was based solely on the fact that she didn't know what the fuck to do. She said she expected to be like in the movies, that someone would come in and tell her how it was when she had the freaking Royal Encyclopedia sleeping next to her. If someone had to prepare her, it was him and he chose not to. Let's not romanticise that bullshit because how is it that the only person she relies on told her nothing about the institution. Excuse me, but you won't make me change my mind about the fact that HE.DIDN'T.DO.IT.
Meghan's mental health struggles. I am absolutely disgusted and devastated about the fact that it got to a point when she didn't want to live anymore. I can't even imagine how that was for her and I'm at loss for words. The fact that she came forward and admitted that is brave and I salut her for it. I am connecting the dots (am I?) and this one, I also blame it on him. One, because of the lack of preparation Meghan received and secondly, because in the interview, she said she reached to the Institution and they said she wasn't an employee so they couldn't help her (that's right) but if I recall correctly, Henry has talked about how he went to therapy after finishing his military career because he was struggling, meaning he had help on speed dial. Not to mention the fact that he, with Kate and William, had developed Heads Together, meaning he had access to countless people that could help him in the matter. He could've gone to any of them and be like "my wife is having a horrible time and we need help" but what did he do? According to his own words, he was ASHAMED that she felt that way so he didn't TELL ANYONE FROM THE FAMILY SHE WAS STRUGGLING. EXCUSE YOU??? Your wife is crying for help and you have the balls to say, in front of her, in front of Oprah, in front of the world, and say you were ashamed??????? ARE YOU SERIOUS????? And he did the same thing he always does: he bolted. Fuck that, he's as responsible as the others for her not getting the help she so badly needed.
About the passport, car keys thingy. I don't think that's likely because she traveled to the US for her baby shower and they went on holidays outside the UK several times (Elton John's house everybody?)
They got their security removed: The security they had was because they were working royals. It was removed because they weren't working royals anymore (for those who don't know, security is taxpayer based, they're not working for the Institution, then obviously they won't need it. It has nothing to do with how famous they are). They had to pay for it themselves. See above Beatrice and Eugenie's security thing. Zara and Peter, the first grandchildren of the Queen didn't have security. And again, it's royalty 101. Plus, their security is not handled by the palace and they knew that. The Sussexes themselves said: : “The provision of armed security by The Metropolitan Police is mandated by the Home Office, a ministerial department of Her Majesty’s Government, responsible for security and law and order.”
About being cut off. How is it I wasn't surprised that he said he was cut off? Like, I assumed everybody knew that's what was gonna happen because you cannot be half in, half out. I thought they wanted financial independence. Using his inheritance is being financial independence so good for them. It's part of it. Which brings me to the next point.
They didn't want to leave. I'm sorry but yes, they did. This topic was a bit contradictory because Meghan said they've had that conversation for nearly two years but they said they didn't want it to go that far but they wanted to be half/half like any other people in the family. Comparing yourself to the likes of The Gloucesters or the Kents is wrong because they're far behind the line of succession, they have no protection unless they are on official acts and because they are sometimes asked to represent the Queen, yes. They all have their patronages because once upon a time, they were up and they needed to support HM when it was only her, Philip, Margo and the Queen Mum. But that's about it. And as they are accepting the taxpayer money, they're still following the rules. Henry and Meghan didn't want the taxpayer money, hence not following the rules. Henry was 6th in line, about to be part of the bigger picture when his father would've been king. He talks about expectations and his expectations were high because he was included in that, Meghan, Archie and baby girl too. When he decided out, he was quitting all of that (hence why Meghan says "a lot of things have already been lost") she endured that because it was the price to pay but he has already known, FOR YEARS, that's what was gonna happen if he left, which takes me to the next point:
That's why he never actually did leave. I was a Henry stan for years and I've known everything there is to know about him, ups and downs. I knew he wanted out for so long but he never did because he was afraid he would lose everything. He did it because in his head, that's what it took for him to save his family (forgetting he was the boss and he could call the shots, don't tell me I'm wrong when the proof is there with all the IPSO complaints and all the shit he has done in the past) but he has also never liked to be held accountable (the Vegas episode, the Nazi episode, the Weed episode that included him going to an addict meeting he absolutely didn't want to go). HE couldn't cope with the fact that he had failed not only the Queen, Charles and William by absolutely not preparing his wife but also to his wife because he couldn't help her (which I KNOW HE WOULD'VE). So he, sitting there with his wife's hand in his and saying he would've stayed if he had gotten the help is absolute bullshit. He can deceive loads of people but not me. HE KNEW. He wasn't trapped, he was absolutely content with it, that's bullshit too.
Do I still think leaving was the best for them? YES. Without a question, YES. I see them happy with their lives but absolutely bitter about the institution. I get it from her because she didn't know a shit ton and there's no way she wouldn't feel resentful. But him? Nahh. But they are happy and that's what matters, that's why I don't believe the would've stayed. I said they needed to leave a million years ago and a lot of people called me many names for it but I was right and this is living proof that I was right. That doesn't mean I'm not bitter, in return, about the fact that they had a lot of potential.
I would get why Henry would feel hurt by Charles. If Charles got a hand on all of this, it's absolutely devastating to hear that he felt his father didn't support him during the process. But I also think that with the plan of thinking the Monarchy would only be him, his wife and his sons' families, no wonder he also stopped answering his calls. That doesn't mean that that wasn't shitty. We do loads of stupid things when we're hurt and angry.
About the Institution and their lack of support. No wonder they decided to talk about the whole bullying thing. They knew they were gonna be accused about a lack of protection for MH and that's why they were like nahhh this is what happened. Which brings me to my last point:
Every story has two sides and everybody needs to be listened. And as always, everybody is the villian of someone else's story. I'm not saying MH are the villians, I'm saying that they were given their right to talk about their story in their own terms. That doesn't mean that's the absolute truth and that's why it's also important to hear the people who have felt affected by their actions. I'm not gonna talk about that just yet because this turned out to be too long but I will and will give my opinions about it. The only conclusion I get from this is:
From now on, this blog will report about Meghan, Archie and baby girl whenever I feel like it. I like them three a lot and I'm happy they're happy. But from this moment on, I won't talk about Henry. I think that, unlike his own vision, all of this was allowed by him, he had a hand in this and he let this happen. It wasn't just the institution that failed to help them on many occasions but he also failed not only to his family but to his wife. And I cannot go back from that.
