He loved his partners, of course, but they were always second to Sirius. Regulus is a far more interesting character when he’s complicit in his own tragedy. The fact he genuinely bought into blood supremacy, joined the Death Eaters, and then had to face the consequences of that choice is what makes his story compelling.

We can speculate endlessly about why and to what extent he changed his mind. To me, it’s way more interesting seeing him do the messy and hard work of unlearning the ideology he was raised with, rather than narratives that make him blameless or make him realise fascism is bad because he fancies someone.
